Fair enough, but I think they will come through and patch everything up. But I agree, if the soon-patch ends up being a lie or a misleading half-fix, by all means there is no reason to trust them a second time.

I'll buy KotOR III as long as LucasArts isn't publishing it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> <_< How is it possible for you to hate a company so much for one mistake? Your unnatural rage towards LA seems alittle too harsh. Why damn an entire saga simply because the publishers made a mistake? Maybe they read all this and learned their lesson? Then when KOTOR 3 comes out we'll all have a blast playing it except you and your descendants who will be bound to a rash vow you proclaimed back in 2005. (Take this post with a pinch of sarcasm...its not really supposed to be a flame.)

That makes perfect sense, despite the proliferation of Caps Lock. I actually applaud them for boldly weakening a boss fight for stories sake, rather than just making one more long tedious fight. -

I don't know how patching works on an Xbox, but since they added Yavin to KOTOR 1 Xbox, I don't see why they couldn't add to KOTOR 2. However, I believe it would be redundant to want the same patch for XBox as PC is getting "soon" because the bugs are totally different, no?

I wouldn't have a problem with just "ignoring" their mistake and totally rehauling the Level up system. I'm kind of tired of adults becoming Jedi anyway, its just not canon. If Anakin was to old to start (Revan, Exile, Luke are exceptions) why can all your henchmen suddenly become Jedi? I'd rather they just start you off as a Jedi, and focus the leveling up more on getting better and better at something, like blocking damage or repair than turning you into some demi-god within a year (game time). Keep your Vitality the same throughout, just get better and better at not taking damage. This would be more realistic. Thoughts? -
Luke didn't beat Palpatine. He refused to kill Vader and threw his lightsaber away. I don't think he could have ever beaten the Emperor if he had attacked. Its hard to judge though, because besting someone in battle doesn't mean your stronger than them in the force. Kenobi just let Vader kill him.

Regards to Robert Frost. This could be a poll...but I dislike polls. I'm wondering how many people who loved KOTOR 1 want a KOTOR series that is a continuous story, as opposed to those who merely want the games to "orbit the same sun but invlove different planets each time". I remember back in the NWN forums that many people were adamantly opposed to ever having to see Aribeth (OR anyone else from NWN's OC) again, and instead for the NWN Expansions to be completely different stories and characters in the same universe/game-structure. So, two points of discussion. 1) You would rather the KOTOR series be realised as a familiar level up system and universe but with each installment starting you as a new level one Character in a new story arc, possibly (but not nessesarily) hinting at events in a previous game. 2) You are attached to the characters in KOTOR 1 & 2, and desperately want their story to continue without limiting your ability to roleplay. (Feel free to copy and paste either point as a start off, so people know which point you are defending). Point 1)'s greatest strength is that every game, you get to start from scratch, be completely suprised with the story and leave room for multiple endings. Point 2)'s greatest strength is that you become deeply involved with your characters, and the game series truely becomes an epic story people fall in love with. The main problem, as Bioware discovered in NWN is that (No spoilers here, don't worry) in trying to create multiple, unique endings, they had really screwed themselves in trying to make a sequel, because the two endings were contradicting! A sequel couldn't contain the option for both endings to have been true without the game becoming two seperate games. This problem is perfectly illustrated in the Command & Conquer games. Red Alert 2 had to choose a winner, even though either team could "win" in Red Alert 1. Point 2 will always limit the openness of a Roleplay experience. After thousands of Revans and Exiles have been created and played through, you can't make a sequel that caters to everybodies individual path through KOTOR 1. I, however, choose point 2, because I love Balduresque stories. And I would love KOTOR 3 to have the courage to do two things. 1) Either the Exile and Revan were both good, or they were both evil. Not one or the other. Thats the first non-negotiable the story should take into account. 2) Admit that the leveling in both games was to ofast, and create a system like Icewind Dale (or Baldur's Gate) where you control an entire party. Have Revan AND the Exile in Kotor 3, and have the opertunity to customise each one at the start to be like the people you played in KOTOR 1 & 2. Then, you can choose which other henchmen you want to come with you. Have TWO PC's, not one. Revan and the Exile can't be turned into NPC's once they've been the players character. It just doesn't work. Then, you are in control of the two characters you are so involved in, and the story continues, unabated, with either a light or dark ending. And if it's Dark? I think Revan and the exile should finally turn on each other (You have to choose which one you will control), and the loser be dead and gone FOREVER. That...my friends, would be an awesome game indeed. I'm against Point 1), so I'm looking forward to hearing a fan of that idea speak up. AS for me, I'll be defending/doscussing point 2)

" Have you played Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay? The festering dark pits of mutants underneath the Prision facility are like a sunny knoll covered in little bunnies playing in the wildflowers when compared to the depraved depths of the Lucas Arts forums. One *shudder* topic read "Everyone is betching [sic] abot [sic] what they wantg [sic] in KOTOR III what do you want to see in KOTOR IIII? Discus... [sic] (w00t) KOTOR IIII? I almost laughed myself to death. Yeah. Don't go there. Ever.

It would have been a very brave move to make the boss fight a long cut-scene with no interaction from you at all. I'm mean, the fun for me is the story, and varied combat against different enemies. Beating Malak, however, was just repetative and very "unepic". If it was a cut scene, it could truely involve an epic duel, worthy of the power of both you and the end boss. -

Ha! I tried that once and my friends almost beat me to death for being so foolish. I thought it would be cool, and then, for the first time in my life, understood that too much realism in a game makes it to much like real life, and no longer fun. Like Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance and their stupid weapons breaking. -
Once again. This is a thread asking for people who own KOTOR 2 on PC AND Xbox to give their opinion which platform KOTOR 2 runs best on in its current form. Everything else, Everything else, is redundant on this thread.

Corr well maybe KOTOR2 won't be the heap of crap you keep pointing out it is forever, cos I reckon SW fans are at LEAST as obsessive as D&D fans. I should know, I'm both. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, in Hades_One's defense, NWN seems alot easier to community fix than KOTOR 2, but maybe I speak out of ignorance. I'm no programmer.

Ignore Stargate: 2000's false prophecy. I played KOTOR on both, but I don't think I want to pay for KOTOR 2 twice in its current form. If Xbox is less glichy I'll buy it, but PC is easier to upgrade. I don't think there will be a content patch, so its simply a matter of polling to see which had less technical problems.

MONKEY ISLAND what a classic! But to be fair a lot of those games were from a different era in Lucasarts history, when the original Monkey Island was released they had no interest in producing Star Wars games, and in fact, tended to be very clear about this when employing people. Lucasarts was originally intended to be about quality video games, especially adventure games, and not Star Wars franchises. And it showed. Monkey Island still stands as a classic, more than that, as a benchmark.. even if the 4th and 5th installments got a bit ropey and self referencing. Then they made brief forays in the form of X-Wing vs Tie fighter, Dark Forces... but generally. it wasn't about Star Wars.. Now it is about Star Wars... and its all about the mighty dollar before quality. or it seems that way to me.. Point in hand, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds... terrible game.. like they had to get together with Micro****e and see just how bad a Star Wars game they could make. There's a collaboration of two evils for you. Well some of you may have liked it, but you'd be wrong Frankly I think Lucasarse has a lot to prove before the general buying public will put the same trust in them as they might have done in the late 80s and early 90s. The day used to be when the Lucasarse label was one of guaranteed quality, not guaranteed Star Wars merchandising, with the occasional quality product slipping out amongst the quagmire. But then again, in those days no-one would have DARED release a buggy game. that would have been commercial suicide. Just because the internet is out there to facilitate downloads the whole culture has changed and now its considered OK to put things out before they are ready because you can fix it later. And there were probably MANY games in the past which had content dropped, and likely never had the opportunity to be restored, But at least they worked. I just think its a crying shame there even needs to be a content download, cos it just shows how far its gone, when not only are games released in such an unstable state, but also with plot holes like this. At least when content had to be dropped in years past it was done so cleanly. Frankly I think you're wise to wait. yes you are missing out on some damn good stuff, but why not hang on and get the full uncomplicated, and potentially uncut (or at least less cut) version of the game. All the rest of us will have to play the game AGAIN to get this. and much as I love it the replay appeal is only going to last for me for maybe 4-5 outings, if that. Sorry if I went a little off topic but the mention of Monkey Island kinda made me think how things have changed <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Heck yeah. Those old games never crashed. I still play Civ 2, Conquest of the new world and Transport Tycoon. Maybe KOTOR 3 should be done in a really retro style, like text-based or point and click, or even better... (w00t) ...Republic Tycoon/SIM Republic! Turn a primative planet into the hub of a galaxy-spanning power. Will you create a thriving trade-democracy, or forge an evil Tyranny? Wow, did I just say that? I think I better run before someone sees that last suggestion. That would really kill Lucas Arts/Obsidian forever. -

Why can't NWN stand by itself? The OC was great, SoU was great, and HotU was great. You can play those three BIOWARE games, be satisfied, and then move on to a new game without ever having to have downloaded a single byte from NWVault. I know because I have done so. Later, I added CEP and NWVault modules, and they enhanced an already great, complete, game.

THis maybe premature since the PC patch is immanent(?), but I was wondering if anyone has both the PC and Xbox KOTOR 2's and which one played more smoothly/had an overall better feel? Thanks in advance for any information.
