Influence, your spelling makes my eyes hurt. Since we are deep in Metaphysics, and none of this is any more than speculation, fate and choice may be very two dimensional! It seems you are treating fate and choice the same way that Sovereignty and Free-will are treated in Christianity. I won't go in to that argument, but if fate is the guiding force of the Starwars universe, there doesn't have to be "free Choice" at all. You could argue that any choice you make without knowing the outcome is (from your perspective) "free", and yet still be completely controlled by fate. The issue is that, in my opinion, there really isn't any good reason to assume that an individual could make a dent in reality/fate. The universe is governed by complex laws and forces, even more so with Starwars' "Force". A single thread can shout about its individually as much as it wants, but in the end it is a tiny strand of fabric that was created by another and forced to be part of a grand design it can never hope to comprehend, and its whole existance is for some hidden purpose known only to those of equal intelligence to its maker. What hope does even the Mighty Anakin have? He was just a chess pawn. I don't think you're reaching Transcendance just yet, Comrade... ...and in the words of Kenobi, "In my world there is no such thing as luck..." Meditating on Meta-science does not "discover" anything more than the extent of a persons imagination. There is only the "educated guess", based on scientific experiment results, and the "Faith" in your own ability to understand what you cannot comprehend. Vanity of Vanities... -

Then tell him what part of the drawing needs to be improved, and how. I'd accept his artwork for an online comic, it sort of reminds me of Drowtales. If you're curious, read Spiderborn. Its only a few pages long, but an excellent little yarn.

That was uncalled for... I wish I could draw as well as that, let alone Aimo. And Aimo is hardly a master, although I do like her work.

Oh come on, you love him really. He adds character to the board, with his "fact"/"opinion" catchphrase, and his feisty little lego avatar...

Hah! Our anscestors are rolling in their graves! History has repeated itself, and once again, all men do is sit around and remember stories of epic Old Trolls long extinct. Maybe our idle camp-fire chatter will awaken his dark soul?

And, it would be prudent to mention that history also records Christians doing the sort of things Asimov mentions, such as Calvin in Switzerland, and the Catholics just about everywhere until recently. " I was merely stating that the pot seemed to be calling the kettle black. My parents now live in the UK, which I would classify as a "Liberal Democracy". It is strange how it is so different from the US, when they have so much in common. I don't see a "Religious Right" screaming against Gay Marriage, or Communists burning Bibles, and yet both groups can be found there. I am even told that all religions are taught in public school classes, as well as evolution. Seems like a very free society indeed. Maybe it is simply a case of the average American diet containing too much sugar... While I hold to a "Literal" Belief of the Bible in regards to the soul, I would rather live in a secular state that protects everyones freedom of belief than the would be-Theocracy some Americans apparently "pray" for. Such things end in Despotism. -

Bonjuer. Don't worry about your english, most of the americans here can't speak it either... When you say the "play" Kotor 3, a assume you mean the "game", although a stage production might be worth seeing. KotOR 3 is only a rumor, and no one knows who will make it. Bioware is too busy I think. Maybe Obsidian will. It is too early to know.

I may be being anal, but they are being incomplete. Incomplete=unfinished. Agreed. I still think it was money well spent to buy the game, and have enjoyed it. Btw, are you personally going to download the content patch?

Deus ex Machina: the Will of The Force ...
FaramirK replied to metadigital's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
An excellent Quote. One that desparately needs to be translated into Russian Language and Thinking. Well, the Bible claims to be the patient findings of an omniscient God, so the patient findings of thinking minds through all the centuries since the Bible was written really don't amount to much in comparison. As with most athiests, Asimov imagines that Christians are forcing their dogma down everyones throat. I can't ever remember a "Christian Authority" forcing their feeble and childish beliefs on me, or invading my school, library and home. I do however, remember the Communists doing it regulary in the Soviet years. And I personally resent that bitterly. I agree whole-heartedly. Everyone should have the right to believe what ever they want. But you probably never lived in a place where there was no freedom to think against or doubt the social norm, have you? -
No, that's not a "fact". That's your opinion, there's a difference. The game is finished, like it or not. Your idea of what it should have been means nothing. Just deal with it and move on. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 213374U, come on! Open your eyes! If you decide to cut a quest or line of conversation from a game, and you accidently leave parts of the quest/conversation in the game, your task of removing the unwanted elements is..............drumroll.............UNFINISHED! And so is your game. If I mis-diagnosed a patient and decided to change the perscription, but left some of the original drug on the list, I'd be incompetent. I'm not mad they took stuff out...I'm mad they left scraps in the game itself. I'm tired of hearing you juggle "fact" and "opinion" like two brightly coloured balls. Even the Official Prima Guide says that some quests are incomplete and CANNOT be completed! Case Closed. Thank Goodness for the up coming cut-content patch

Why is this thread still alive? The patch is out! Stop whining about whiners. Besides, the faults of the game speak for themselves, even if some people are too whiny about it. As for all of you who think the game is unfinished, behold, thy salvation! Time to leave this parrot house...

Deus ex Machina: the Will of The Force ...
FaramirK replied to metadigital's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well folks, I'm back. And if only to annoy Metadigital, I'll say right now that I do NOT have time to read the entire threaad, fascinating as it may be. I beg your pardons in advance if this argument has already been stated. Just stopped by to say that I watched Episode IV last night, and there is a scene on board the Millenium Falcon (Great name for a ship. btw, totally off topic, why was the Ebon Hawk not black?) where Luke is practising his blaster deflection against a remote. As Obi-Wan advises Luke, Han is skeptical, and says something to the effect of "Kid, I've been from one end of the galaxy to the other, and I've seen alot of crazy things, but never anything to convince me that there is an all-powerful force controlling everything." Han clearly stated that The Force has no will. However, he was a skeptic and he didn't really know much about The Force anyway, so its hard to say if he was right or wrong. He sounds as if he is arguing against a commonly held belief, like I could say exactly what he said, but end "...convince me that there is an all-powerful God controlling everything." - My statement suggests that what I am saying is NOT true is held to BE true by others. I think, on having recently rewatched the OT, that GL always intended The Force to have some kind of conciousness or will. I withdraw my earlier argument that The Force was originally only meant to be a latent energy that could be accessed by anyone. Deus ex Machina is sounding more likely...and while I disagree with Metadigital's dubious theological conclusions regarding the sola scriptura, I think I was wrong about The Force being simply a resource, without a "will". Blame my past dabblings in Atheistic Materialism for my eagerness to deny the possibility. -

Where is the romance in this kotor2 ?
FaramirK replied to antagonistix's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Totally disagree. The interplay between the Exile and Handmaiden or Exile and Visas was MUCH MORE intimate then anything offered in KotOR1. So what they didnt kiss or bump ugly, the underlaying tension and eventual release of those tensions were much more pure romance and MATURE in nature then anything Bastila had to offer up to Revan in KotOR1. Even the dialog with Mira was semi joking but laced with underlaying tension (expanded on when you read Miras thoughts) and left with a "possible" future connection type of feeling. Seriously folks, you DONT need to see them kiss or screw on screen to get the point across. Obsidian was much more subtle then Bioware (who basically just slapped you upside the head with the love story so none could miss it). Obsidian did it in a far more mature and intense manner. The (as called force sex) between Visas and Exile at the start of the final chapters was one of the most well done and sensual moments Ive ever seen in a RPG game to be honest and the effect and meaning was obvious for all but the slowest of people. Handmaiden going crazy and kidnapping Kreia, killing her sisters, fighting Atris, and finally opening up to you and telling you her name all because she thought you were killed by Kreia and Atris (atris indirectly) left no doubt what so ever on her true feelings for you. Mira tracking you on Malacor V even after spurning your advances at the risk of her own life even was symbolic of the loyalty and feelings she had for the Exile. Come on folks, you DONT need the kissing and such when you have all that in play. Obsidian did quite possibly the best love interest story Ive ever seen to date in cRPG to be honest. Even in part 1 when Bastila declared her love and they kissed I was like "ok, who really didnt see that comeing", it was all predictable! Obsidians way was much more subtle and there for much better pay off. The Exile didnt hold to the Jedi path either, Obsidian decided not to close the stories off (which is the GREATEST INDICATION that a KotOR3 on its way). These storyline HAVE to pick up where they left off and complete in KotOR3. Exile not being true to Jedi code, he just took the storylines as far as he could in KotOR2. Obsidian just doing what ALL good story tellers do, they didnt rush you to the climate of the tale like KotOR1 did regarding Bastila/Revan. As Ive said in multiple posts I usually HATE the love story crap in cRPGs and its handled so immaturly. Obsidian however hooked me and dragged me in leaving me ACTUALLY WANTING MORE! I actually want to know where these characters end up, with who they end up with, what causes that. Obsidian did what ALL good story tellers should do, leave you wanting more! I cant really comment on the female Exile t hen to say sure the love story was lacking there, but then again its obvious to pretty much everyone the original story (for parts 1 and 2) were designed for the PC to be a MALE LS Revan or an MALE LS Exile. The female PC stuff was just after thought to increase options and multiple play throughs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How many times did Han and Leia actually kiss? Only two or three times in THREE movies. Well said Kalfear. Bioware can be delicate also. The Baldur's Gate Saga gave the Character and NPC's an entire game to build relationships without a HINT of romance. It made the romance that followed in the second game all the better. -
