Anyone see The Meg yet? Seems to have been popular/made a ton of money over the weekend. I guess people were in the mood for a shark movie. I've liked a couple indie-shark films in recentish years, I wonder how this one, with its more action vibe (vs. slow suspense) will be. Nothing beats Jaws tho ... not yet anyway.

Rumours about acquisition by Microsoft
Everything I've read is that MS seems to be putting out a lot of letters on intent. Which doesn't mean Obsidian will actually go for it. Still, as others have pointed out, it wouldn't be totally surprising if they did ... assuming there's really an offer/intent and it's a decent one, of course. I wouldn't be very happy about it, tho. I mean, can't blame them if they did want to cash out and they have to do what feels best for them, but acquisitions of this sort are rarely things I end up liking/often equal the eventual company/product deathknell from my perspective. More importantly, what might happen to the forum! But such can happen to companies regardless of buyouts, whatever the reasons. Time and the changes time brings tends to do that. I think it's been amazing they've managed as many years of making games that I (personally) enjoy, as they have.

More weird outfit mod choices. But the red soles are awesome. Ignis can jump really really high. As well as jump right through the belly of the beast. Since I'm always posting the handsome bro's, here's Cindy for the guys More Cindy: https://ffxv.crimsonkeep.com/blog/archives/287

That TV Topic
Y'know, people said that Morgan Freeman didn't age, for a long time. But I saw Patrick Stewart at a convention in ... maybe '91? Watching that video, he still looks quite the same. He even ... wears the same jeans and black belt with a white shirt. He must be time-traveling.

Doubtful that would get her of her couch... rofl ... most likely not. ...when in doubt, move furniture/reorganize. Which is what I'm in the middle of doing.

Regrets - games/console/hardware you have sold
Same here. Not that I owned any console besides the original NES, along with some joysticks and gamepads for it. Which I kept in a closet for the longest time. Maybe I tossed it a year or three ago finally, can't remember, don't feel like checking. But I don't sell/trade (physical or digital) games. If it gets to a point where I no longer want a game, I just toss it into the garbage can. On PC with digital tossing isn't physically literal, ofc. I'm of the mindset that even if I think I'm completely over a game, I never know when I might want it years down the road so I'll hold onto it as long as I have something that will run it.

Hubby decided he doesn't like the new van and is returning it. No comment. I'm still in my apathy-mode. Haven't washed my hair in a week. Still slouching around, FF-ing through Korean day-dramas between naps. I think I sat outside briefly yesterday but I'm not sure. It's all a blur. I did attempt to break lethargy a bit by installing a new WordPress subdomain for FFXV screenshot blogging (since I hate tumblr etc). Dunno if I'll actually use it or just uninstall it again. WordPress sure has changed a lot since 7 years ago. Still the easiest but the premade theme concept has become really commercial (and harder for me to figure out how to slightly reconfigure them) even for simple pic-posting themes. Can't be bothered to create my own style/look from scratch these days however so whatever. *back to couch-slouching*

I always found Worf's character boring. But I really wasn't into the whole ST:TNG Klingon thing. I liked the old Klingon's better, and I don't just mean the makeup. A new series with Patrick sometimes being in it would be interesting however. Picard songs - those are both classics at this point. The past 5-6 years, excluding game soundtracks, I think 1/5th of my favorite songs have been silly parody things like that.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS - BATTLE ROYALE
The trailer was only so-so for me, but about 20 seconds in, the song they were using seemed like something I'd really like ... until the trailer effects drowned it out after 30 seconds or so. Does anyone know what song that was?

I didn't watch it all, but they were playing the newer Jumanji film on Starz the other day. It's not really a movie for my tastes but every single time Dwayne Johnson was on screen acting like a nerd-teen in a hulking adult body, I lol'd. He's so utterly charming with decent comic timing and great expressions. He may never win an Oscar but who cares - he's so much fun on-screen.

Based on these titles, which controller to get
This. I also prefer (PS4) controller over xbox, because I have small hands and some hand/finger arthritis ... the PS4 just fits my hands and short finger reach much better [ snip ] We were lounging on the sofa after dinner and this thread came to my mind for some reason. So I took a picture showing why hands are the "thing", at least for me. Hubby's hand (he's 6' 1"-ish) against my hand (I'm 4' 11"-ish): Hubby probably has slightly longer hands than average for his size, but still, you can see what I mean when I say I have a short finger/thumb reach. It's not just finger length, but having a lot less palm length to go with it. It's also why I dislike certain KB hotkey configurations. ...hubby prefers the Xbox controller overall, I think. Although his hands started to ache using it (he's getting old too, haha!) recently so he hasn't gamed much since to prevent it from getting repetivive-worse.

Ready Player One ...I liked all the culture references, some of which made me chuckle (and most of which I "got"). But overall it was more CGI flash and effects then a good story/characters. So much cgi business the rest gets kind of lost most of the time. The lead actor/competitor was very bland - his costars were more lively. The section re: The Shining was the best thing about it. I actually dozed off for 10-15 minutes somewhere after that, dunno if I missed something vital in that time, but it just felt like all reference and no substance. The lead baddie did have that 80's baddie type of feel to him, which was amusing. I would have liked a bit more focus on the outside/real world vs. the game/avatar world. Anyway - I'd give it something like 5.5/10. Watchable and the pop culture and CGI stuff was cool (I'm sure that part was a lot more impressive in theaters) but nothing special imo.

People sure make weird outfit mods. But at least they're cute/funny. Coeurl scarf - goes with the leopard print shirt I guess. The banana distraction technique.

What did you do today?
The heatwaves have completely passed us over, where I am. All this news for a while about massive high temps and the fires but nothing like that here. Not complaining. Death Valley is the hottest place I've ever been in. Sure it was a "dry heat" but even with the car A/C on I was sweating through my clothes driving/sightseeing through there. I have no desire to ever revisit that spot. Unrelated: I love Korean dramas, I've liked some Taiwan/Japan dramas. I've tried some Chinese dramas and I might like some, but what drives me crazy with them is their constant dubbing (they dub almost all dramas because of many regional dialect issues). Thus you can watch one, start liking an actress/actor and then try to watch another one of their shows ... but even if you're using subtitles, the completely different dub-voice coming out of their mouth throws you off. I can't stand it. lol.

This. I also prefer (PS4) controller over xbox, because I have small hands and some hand/finger arthritis ... the PS4 just fits my hands and short finger reach much better and doesn't cause any thumb joint flareups from moderate-heavy time use, while the Xbox one cramps up my hands (the way you have to grip it doesn't fit my palms well so I tend to grip it a lot tighter) and makes my thumbs hurt fairly quickly. I also prefer the feel of the PS4 joysticks motion wise. I don't know why, I just do. So just depends on individual.

How is it to live in your country?
1- What country do you live in? The USA, West Coast. Main attraction is fairly temperate weather (where I live anyway) and the easy commutes to many different environments. I prefer to stick to the Western USA. 2- What country would you prefer to live in? Why? Some other countries sound interesting on paper for various reasons, but (for me) unless I've spent several months (or more) in any such country, I don't think I could state some kind of specific preference. eg. 2 week vacations aren't enough to go by.

What did you do today?
I've been really lethargic and find myself just slumping in bed/chairs reading long recaps of TV series (either faves I've seen or ones I don't care to watch but don't mind recaps to get the gist of it instead). I need to get out of this strange mental rut. My brother and sister emailed me last week with more parent-estate stuff (I swear that stuff takes forever/never seems to entirely end) which probably triggers all kinds of mental avoidance foolishness I suppose. Hubby's new van: despite the fact it's 98% closer to his original van than the last one he bought, his general thought so far is almost exactly the same: "It's not as comfortable to drive (various small reasons)." To which I replied: "Nothing you buy will be, because that van of yours has had 20+ years to mold itself to your skinny butt (plus spine, shoulders and mental aura)."

☆ The Dream Thread ☆
I don't remember dreams very often these days. Used to remember one every night and in fine detail. Now even if I remember I dreamed I rarely recall such details, just the overall concept. All my dreams are always in very vivid color. I remember my father saying his dreams were always black and white (except occasionally one single object in the dream might have a single color shade) and I had a hard time envisioning that. Interesting to see this thread however, since last night, I had my very first true visual nightmare. It was basically torture porn but with a voodoo-zombie/Borg aspect. Strangely despite the imagery/what was being done to "me", it didn't feel frightening and at some point I knew I was dreaming - I told myself to wake up but I was so sleepy I couldn't be bothered and kept letting the dream run further ... until one "scene" was finally bad enough it made my head actually hurt so I finally opened my eyes. Now I'm sleepy from only 2 hrs of sleep. I say it was my first because usually my "nightmares" are just strange/bizarre or emotionally traumatic vs. horrific, if that makes sense. I hope I don't start having these types of dreams a lot, I much prefer my typical dreaming. >.>

Compressed can of Air or a leafblower
I use a manual plastic squeeze bulb to get the worst off (if it's been a while) then finish it with a few blasts from compressed air held some distance away. I can't imagine using a leaf blower. I mean I'm sure it works and all, but using a leaf blower just to dust out the pc feels a bit excessive. I guess it's "free" tho, assuming you own one already. But cans of air aren't that bad and you don't need a lot. It lasts a while. Even better is having the PC in a room where dust collection isn't very severe to begin with. And not having it rest on the floor/carpet.

*watches the Glass trailer* "I specialize in those individuals who believe that they are superheroes." ***Drawn out Bass Note*** :::: those certain 3 actors sitting in chairs :::: -----> Me suddenly laughing uncontrollably. ...the rest of the trailer made me go "eh, could be/hope it'll be good, who knows" ... but those 10-15 or so seconds are a new classic moment for me.

What did you do today?
IKR? Although it was probably more like $800-$1000 since there's taxes and registration and all that on top. Anyway, it was delivered this morning. It's definitely very close to hubby's original van, with some minor differences in styling here and there - like no triangle-window openings on front windows and no carpet flooring, just this vinyl stuff. Which they decided to Armor-all (something you use on your tires) to make it all shiny, meaning if you got in and walked around your shoe soles were all slippery. Idjits. >.> Had to scrub that all off. Other than that it looks good. Don't know what hubby will think of it until he drives it around for a few weeks/gets used to it. Also, either it's slightly taller or the "step" is slightly higher or I'm just bloody older every hour, but it feels like more of a struggle for me to step up into the thing/passenger seat area (short legs and bad knees). Pretty soon I'll need a special cane just to get into hubby's cars. Most of the time I make him drive me around in my car, instead.

What are you playing right now?
I'm back to playing that old familiar game called Nothing. :/ Why do I always end up loving games that have almost no similar other games (there still has been nothing even remotely similar to Borderlands, for example). Over the years, Diablo clones up the wazoo....that's about it. I'm almost tempted to buy House Flipper.

What did you do today?
^ If it saves me physical trips to the store - like maybe I'd only have to do that once a month vs. once a week - I'm all for it. I've been dreaming of such for years but I feel like it's only been recently that such services have enough of what I'd personally buy to make it worthwhile. I'm a little picky - frozen/processed, beverages and non-food items I can see, but not sure if I'd like not being able to pick out the exact apple or bundle of bok choy etc. We shall see. :D
