  1. Yeah, the game doesn't make real-world sense in a lot of ways, but I'm willing to overlook that aslong as it doesn't impede the gameplay too much. The melee is close to getting there though. You have to waste praxis points on these nonsensical energy cells and they don't even recharge on their own. You'd think the technology would've improved by then and that's buying into the idea that doing one move is going to completely drain my energy - wth? Honestly, I don't find the alternate routes to be near creative enough for the developers to be overly concerned about their overpowered melee mechanic abuse. It moreso cheapens the experience and is why I don't find the major missions to be much fun. I just stood back and did headshots and killed everyone in my last mission. It's pretty hilarious seeing suspicion levels drop, even though you've killed many guards in plain view, just because you've stepped back into an airvent. I'm just glad that they did grant me enough ammo to headshot enemies when I want to, otherwise I doubt I could get through the game. So, even though the workings of the game are a bit weird, atleast there are alternate methods no matter how crude, ultimately it gets you through the game without too much of a headache.
  2. That's what I figured. Instead of doing that - they should've kept unlimited stealth kills in but the second anyone sees/hears you, it turns into hand-to-hand combat like Alpha Protocol or something along those lines. They made the stealth melee too powerful, and in turn lazily limited the use.
  3. Deus Ex:HR - Started putting more time into this. It's a good enough game to keep me playing - mainly the environment and leveling up. I wish they didn't choke the melee use with the depletion of energy - why can't I just do a normal melee attack without the use of some special energy source powered by an energy bar? I mean you can find enough energy sources to where it's almost redundant but obviously they meant to give you limited melee use for "game balance" purposes - which just comes off as lazy design. It also doesn't make much sense to do this since the gunplay feels very much like the Fallout 3 engine - very stiff and almost useless shooting mechanics unless you just want to sit far back and pickoff enemies via headshot. This is the type game where sometimes I want to be stealthy and other times I want to play it faster and just bust through enemies with bullet spray, but unfortunately the gunplay is just too rigid to really do that. The boss battles are almost laughably bad. I really don't enjoy the bigger missions so far - the smaller, sidequest stuff is better but still isn't great. I don't know, this game is just generic as it gets but the unique gameworld and leveling up is enough to keep me interested.
  4. It sounds right up my alley - I've been on an Asian cinema kick for most of the year. Too bad I've been buying too many nondescript games simply because they're cheap, or else I'd be playing Sleeping Dogs already. I just need to finish a few more games before buying anymore and it seems to take me forever to beat games as of late. I'm not sure how some of you do it.
  5. Sounds pretty decent. Too bad I can't trade in SR3, which bugged out on me, for some credit towards this game. Most likely it will be my next game purchase.
  6. Not much - just expected it to be a fun shooter to screw around with. Turns out there's far too much inventory management which appeals to the old school rpg horder types, but that wasn't what I was looking for. The presentation of the game seems to lean this way as well, blatant nerd humor is just grating.
  7. Love the tech but wish they could come up with a better narrative/characters.
  8. Yeah, I hate those type games. I shouldn't have bought it but it comes down to deciding which is more worthless, a game or $5?
  9. Just saying academy awards are meaningless - if those pompous snobs that do the voting don't like you(as in Kubrick's case) you'll never win an award. It's the type movie that appeals to masses of females, much in the way of the comic book movies that appeals to the 18-40 male demographic.
  10. Not sure if serious, but if you notice there is actually only one film from 1997 on that list, and none after 97. So Titanic (1997 release) is barely at the point where it would really be considered. It did win 11 academy awards, so your argument is pretty shaky here. Glad to hear about the pacifist playthroughs in Dishonored. I still plan on getting it on day 1. Kubrick only won one academy award and it was for "special effects". That's how meaningless those trinkets are.
  11. No? Well why do the same enemies that I easily defeat early on become harder even though I later had better weapons? Something definetly changed, they're given better weapons and perhaps better AI at the very least if not more. The game sucks bro. The whole game is one giant example of filler. 17 hours in I was still waiting for the real experience to start.
  12. Borderlands - f'n uninstalled. This game represents almost everything I hate about gaming. OCD inventory management, enemies that level up with you and come in respawning waves, no manual saves, unnecessary filler with unnecessary travel, horrid storyline, horrid quests, little to no return for mindless action, stupidly annoying talking robots, uncreative boss battles, etc. No clue how enough people bought this game to generate a sequel.
  13. Got to love those unintuitive journal systems, though I don't remember the Witcher being too bad. I might be finished with Borderlands. I just can't see how anyone can like a game like this. It's just so old having to run through two maps, usually fighting some sort of enemy horde before reaching the quest point which, surprise surprise, is filled with more hordes of enemies and if that wasn't enough, after you complete the quest you have to pull a reverse and go through the same horde and travel all the way back to "turn in" your quest. What kind of bull**** game design is this? The ONLY good thing in the game is the custom weapons - however, even that has it's drawbacks as the game then turns into gross inventory management + there's hardly ever any weapon of worth to buy + my ammo upgrades were partially useless as the system never comes close to filling out my ammo capacity. The default is like 250, the $6k upgrade allows for 500 rounds, but I can never really collect over 300. Pointless. And then to further devalue the one nice aspect of the game, the weaponry, well, when you break down the combat it feels like you're just targeting paper mache dolls. The guns are pretty much just trophies.
  14. Hard Reset is a nice little game with good shooting mechanics and more atmosphere than the AAA titles. Yep, I didn't mean to say it was a bad game or anything. Very short, but I don't think it sold for $60 or something at the start anyway. The atmosphere in the levels is very cool, heh, made me wish I could go into the places. The weapon switching was a bit weird to get used to - 2 guns but with different modes. Probably didn't help that I suck at the game, had trouble with the gorrilas for ages before I figured out that the stasis and rockets work well. Yeah - I was just backing you up in saying that it was a decent little game.
  15. Why play a game you don't enjoy? Maybe my attitude will change later in life, but currently I play a game until I don't enjoy it anymore. This happens the most with extra long RPGs, there comes a point where I simply am no longer having fun, at which point I have better things to do. Some I finish, some I don't. I never finished FO3 the original game for example...not have I ever finished an Elder scrolls game. On the otherhand have finished all of Bio's games, and such...but that doesn't mean I'll always do it. Play for fun, and when it's no longer fun...don't play. I didn't like Borderlands either by the way. I just like to try to get some use out of it, and then uninstall it forever without having an unfinished game waiting there. Or, I might just like punishing myself for buying such a crappy game.
  16. Forcing myself to beat the original Borderlands so I can uninstall it. Borderlands + Saints Row 3, two games of which I never wish I bought. Even though they were cheap as dirt, I feel dirty just playing the game, having no fun and just trying to get it over. SR3, I can't even play due to a bug.
  17. Hard Reset is a nice little game with good shooting mechanics and more atmosphere than the AAA titles.
  18. I prefer playing Bloodlines as it is. The added stuff just doesn't feel right to me, unless you need a patch to actually get the game running, which is possible. I can't run it without using a cracked Exe for whatever reason, and before I startup Steam, I slip the original Exe back in the folder, just incase Steam checks it.
  19. It looks great graphically, as expected, but man, could they integrate an anymore uninspired story? I was bored of those voice actors/characters in Crysis 1 already. I'll pick it up once it reaches the bargin bin for it's tech. Also, didn't they say they were going back to sandbox gameplay like Far Cry and Crysis 1 to an extent? It looks more like Crysis 2 from the preview.
  20. Heh, deleted the file - but "Party Time" still freezes and shuts down the game every time. Tired of these buggy games and that's part of the reason why I always wait till games get around $10 before I buy. Most games arent good enough to offset the trouble they cause.
  21. Nice... can't believe the hassle it is to get some of these games to work properly.
  22. Might be a FoV issue. Try a mod that gives you at least 80-90 degrees and see if that makes any difference. Got a mod. It definetly helps, though still feel slightly queezy, but it's much better. The only problem now is that the game freezes everytime when i try to start the "party time" mission. Not sure if it's the mod or just the game, but I'll have to investigate later. Ahh, sometimes it ain't easy being a gamer.
  23. Jade Empire is $3.74 today. I nabbed it as I've been waiting for it to drop from it's ridiculous $15 point. Always loved the soundtrack and setting of this game and the character's aren't half bad. The only problem is that you'll probably have to do some tinkering to get the game to run on Windows 7/vista.
  24. Does anyone else get somewhat sick after playing Saints Row? The camera just really seems to screw my eyes up along with the mouse sensitivity which feels so light like the world is made of cardboard. The game just feels weird to play.
  25. I've never played it but remember hearing about it before. Thanks, just nabbed it.
