Here's a little fun fact about your 'list': Denmark (my country, which is ranked 14'th) managed to just miss qualifying for the world cup, for once, whereas Sweden (ranked 16'th) came second in its group and proceeded as one of the best runner up teams. So, what's with the pipe again?

That's my question entirely, why is it fun? The Germans were superior in every respect, and cought them (albeit in what seems like a bit silly now) situation. It might be because I'm from a third party country, I just don't get it.

The ones who did so hardly represent France in total, do they? No more so than those who tortured (or whatever you might call it) prisoners in Abu Graib represent the entire US military.

Well, the US didn't succeed in their objectives and eventually had to pull out due to reasons already listed, no? That's pretty much a 'defeat' in my book. If, say, Denmark was to try and take back old parts of Sweden that belonged to us, and we couldn't sustain the invasion (for whatever reason) and had to pull out, the mission would be a failure, no?
