  1. Oh please do you think I started this thread to find a solution? Come on. This is a gaming forum with an off-topic section and reading this outraged me. If I even had an inclination to actually *solve* problems like this, the Obsidian forums are certainly not the venue I would use. Just by the tone of the posts here, it seems issues like this have been discussed here before and people have gotten tired of them. Or the whole "nazi anti-male feminism" which people seem to run into constantly (I have a fair amount of friends who voted for the Feminist Initiative here in Sweden and I wouldn't consider them to be anti-male, hence my being friends with them) but which I have never seen personally. I think there is a very large point in talking about the things that happened to her are not OK. Maybe I'm very naive but it is my personal belief that talking about things like this and saying "no, it's not ok to threaten to rape someone, even over the internet" can have a large impact if enough people do it openly. If something like that happened to my daughter, if people started talking on the internet about raping her or worse, if someone actually took the steps to *call me* and make real contact, I would be terrified and furious. Turning the other way, or in any just *suggesting* that it's ok and not speaking out against such things worsen the situation if you ask me. I'm glad you're here to tell me these things. Yeah, sure, the things that happened to her aren't ok, there, done, let's get back to the issue at hand... no wait, apparently we also need articles from the gaming media labelling all gamers white misogynist male scum, and apparently it isn't okay to be against those articles, or anything Zoe Quinn has done, otherwise you support the threats, despite stating you don't. There is absolutely nothing that can be done to stop the threats that isn't illegal, most statements on our side of the fence quick and offhandedly state they don't support the threats at their start, thus we might as well talk about the issues with game journalism and corruption, and not circlejerk about how sad it is that Zoe Quinn got threatened, despite the fact that other people are getting just as harrassed, if not more, on our side of the fence, and those other people want the discussion to keep going. There is only so much speaking out you can do, there is no point repeating "What happened to Zoe Quinn is bad" over and over, and doing so would be a massive waste of time. Do you really not have better things to condemn than some threats a person recieved? And yeah, this topic has been discussed to hell and back.
  2. It sort of is insulting to the people born poor who managed to become succesful in spite of that, saying if you are poor you will stay poor implies poor people are completely powerless, people born into wealthy families do have a way easier time getting wealthy, but the above statement is claiming that there is no way you can manage to become succesful without always having been.
  3. Ask anyone whether deaththreats and the like should cease, odds are the response will be yes, and no, she doesn't deserve everything that has allegedly happened, but we can't stop internet people from saying stuff, there's no justifiable point in shifting the discussions about the massive corruption allegations that've been going around to "All gamers are ***hole and hate women, we must all feel great pity for Zoe Quinn." like a lot of people have been trying to do. Also, there are people far more worthy of your tears than Zoe Quinn, save them for the better people out there who are being treated worse.
  4. Harassment irl (which she has alledgedly (I believe her, just saying) recieved) through noninternet mediums is serious, it doesn't mean we should stop calling her out for the various things she did, it doesn't mean we shouldn't be boycotting mainstream game journalists, it doesn't mean we should stop the whole gamersgate and notmyshield thing, both of which are very valid issues, it just means the people who did it are total ****ing ****. Some people might be particularly angry at what Zoe Quinn did because she's a woman, the rest of us are pissed because she engaged in inappropriate relations with the press that covered her without said press telling the public, she attempted to sabotage a charity that tried to get women into game development for no reason, she might've falsely accused people of hacking her, there's an okay chance she lied about giving money donated to her to a charity, and because when called on all that, she just responds by calling the other person mysogynist. Whether a person is motivated by hatred for women or blacks shouldn't matter, whether a person is a woman or is black shouldn't matter, you should judge the people on our side of the argument by whether we've presented valid reason to behave the way we do (people who go overboard and into deaththreats obviously don't have proper reason to do so, but most of us haven'tdone that), and you should accept that the entire debate shouldn't be paused because one person said something bad, especially when people (both men and women) on our side of the fence are being just as harrassed, if not more, by social justice ***holes. Anyhow, how do you justify our entire campaign as mysogynist because we're fighting against, among a ton of SJWs and corrupt people trying to sweep themselves under the rug, two women, when the women on our side are just as harrassed as the women on Zoes?
  5. I gotta disagree, whether threats on the internet generally aren't serious or anything to worry about, if anyone who has ever played an online game got 5 bucks every time some raging guy said something along the lines of "I'll kill you" or "I'll **** you up" everyone playing online games would be millionaires.
  6. In general another persons sexlife is indeed not our damn problem, but when someone screws journalists reporting on the industry they work in then that is the publics buisness, and when that someone responds to the allegations by crying "omg mysogany!" instead of adressing the massive conflict of interest you can't blame the public for getting really pissed off, then when a crapload of journalists join up behind her, people with views opposing hers are harassed without having been involved in something potentially corrupt, and a ton of potential connection between various people within the game media is discovered, then that's our problem even more so. Also if someone wrote "I wish I lived in Nazi Germany" with the hashtag #gamersgatesuxx that doesn't mean everyone using the hashtag should stop.
  7. Ah, sorry then, the context and that it was in a quote made me assume so, my apologies. I disagree here, the names should fit what they do, it makes it easier for people to assign attributes without having to do the math, if the name doesn't fit the name should be changed, you could even just straight up name it deflection&interruptionavoidal, but the name has to allow people to make their chars without putting to much thought into things. I don't feel agree that they make an excellent pair, and I don't see why you even need a pair there, the reason healing and damage, and aoe and duration, are paired is so the stats are useful to everyone. If interrupt was made more severe, and the concentration on resolve was upped so chars with medium resolve won't get stunlocked unless they're completely surrounded with as many people as possible beating them, and chars with high resolve won't get stunlocked at all, then resolve would be useful to everyone, and because you didn't throw deflection into the mix it'd be a clean understandable stat offering users choice and not forcing them to get concentration if they want deflection, or the other way around. The clearer and straighter attributes effects are the better, I don't care about the quantity of different attributes, as long as they allow me to define my chars.
  8. Socialism in its purest form is literally communism - the "once we control the entire world and brainwash people for a few generations we'll abolish the more tyrannical portions of our state and people will naturally behave properly" part, western socialism just isn't pure socialism.
  9. There's the problem right there. The one quote you presented from your pdf didn't really convince me, its argument wasn't really sensible, as having guts and determination doesn't make you any better at defending yourself (besides not being stressed out with fear, but that fear would manifest itself in other ways just as much), if there is something inside the pdf that shows why I'm wrong you shouldn't have had a harder time quoting it than the thing you did quote. Deflection not seeming very resolvy to me also wasn't my only argument, I stated that I felt adding deflection for no real reason clouded the clear tradeoff resolve has and would have under my system, better vs crowds, better vs individuals.
  10. The military and the police in countries that aren't ****ed up won't arrest people preemptively with no evidence, thus they can't do jack to stop starving people from attempting to break into your home or mug you, when wealth goes down crime goes up, even if you have a police force. Quality of life improves for the people who were born with wealth, the rest will have a much harder time getting educated, and if for whatever reason they're unable to get a job (mental illness, disease, handicap, or just a bad economy) they'll starve. Eventually due to the rich instead of the smart being the ones capable of getting a high level education there's a decent chance your technology will start falling behind. During the cold war people who liked the Soviet Union and wanted to migrate weren't allowed to by the US state, those people did exist, and nowadays plenty of people are migrating to leftie areas like Scandinavia, sure not rich people, but that's because capitalist societies benifit them immensely. That people who benifit from certain systems will prefer living under them is hardly a surprise. That last part is pretty much 100% propaganda. For the record I'm much more of a capitalist than I am a socialist, but that doesn't make the capitalist propaganda any less bs.
  11. If you raised interruption chance overall but then increase the concentration resolve gives you they'd roughly even eachother out on a medium res char. Lower res chars would have more attribute points to throw around and would thus be superior at dealing with few, strong, enemies, or in the case of spellcasters, anything that don't attack them. Higher res chars would still be able to put up a fight whilst severely outnumbered, or in the case of spellcasters, reliably cast spells whilst targetted by enemy ranged. I enjoy the prospect of a meaningful choice like that, and I feel it would add greater character build variety, which I would consider fun. I'll admit I didn't read the entire pdf, skipped some bits and pieces here and there, however I don't really agree with the argument you presented there, deflection doesn't really seem very resolvy to me, a person with resolve doesn't feel less pain when struck, nor does he move his body in certain ways when hit to reduce the blow (that's dexterity if anything), he just ignores it in order to complete his task. The reason I wouldn't like the two together is that I feel deflection doesn't fit into resolve, and giving resolve deflection would mean you couldn't make it as important in relation to interruption without overpowering it, I feel it'd make resolve less flavorful. If anything I'd tie resolve with stamina, for someone with a lot of willpower would fight uninterrupted until they completely broke down, they wouldn't take any more hits before dying off though, but I'd still prefer resolve just being concentration.
  12. Then raise interruption chance overall.
  13. I agree, the large AoEs do make them a bit weaker and friendly AoEs would make those persistent AoE damage spells overpowered. Concentration only prevents DPS loss, it doesn't really give you any survivability. Stamina can also be healed. Health cannot. If you can just dump healing spells, and several party members have AoE passive heals, then increased Stamina isn't really that fantastic. There's already far too much resting in this game as well, which breaks up the adventuring pace way too much. We don't need even more of that. Might, Intellect and Constitution are pretty much perfect attributes, there's no reason at all to change them. Yeah, but that DPS loss can get up to 100% in certain circumstances, and preventing such DPS loss is a significant thing. I don't want to give resolve more stamina, and your suggestion does as much to deal with there being to much resting as mine, which is good, because if you want less resting, tweak the stamina-health ratio, no need to do anything with attributes. Concentration can do just fine on its own, provided the amount given is appropriate, so why give resolve a bunch of fancy stuff like deflection?
  14. Why do we really need to do fancy stuff with resolve, why not just give it more concentration? Concentration is the single most resolvy thing ingame anyhow, besides maybe stamina, but I'd prefer stamina sticking with constitution. Sure concentration is a situational stat, but in said situations it's do or die, when your frontliners get completely swarmed or your spellcasters keep getting shot before they finish firing off spells concentration is what will allow your chars to remain functional. Besides resolve Sensuki and Matts system sounds great though.
  15. Only a female infiltrate would want to cause strife within the patriarchy, I have issued a warrant for immediate genital inspection, begone woman.
  16. I feel sorry for someone that full of hate. Good to know that the SJWs are showing their true colors though. Maybe you guys should create a thread dedicated to men where some of you can openly dismiss and make a mockery of gender equality under the guise that it is " satire" and "just a joke" so you are free from moderation. That not a bad idea, oh wait...you already have a thread like that We do? I only thought we had the secret patriarchy headquarters, I didn't know a genius here had gotten around to figuring out how to dismiss the evil gender equality. Also, the severity of the actions of some don't lessen the severity of the actions of others.
  17. Always assume any f2p game with a cashshop will once they've gotten a decent sized audience, if not instantanously, heavily increase the advantage cashshoppers get. In a p2p game people will start flipping out and demanding refunds if things get too bad, and if the game has subscriptions, people will stop renewing them. In a fully f2p game with no cashshop component it isn't really possible to favor paying customers. Generally you should just avoid anything with a cash shop, especially if it is otherwise f2p.
  18. The patriarchy is an organization created for the purpose of opressing women, we're also a worldspanning enterprize. The patriarchy has full control of the globe, and we would personally like to assure you, we have full control of the situation, if you see or hear of a man being opressed by a woman, we guarantee that it is merely a fabrication made by us in order to further subdue women. The patriarchy is also officially changing our transgender policy. Due to an influx of men who are obviously women on the inside into our organization, we declare that you not only be a man, but feel like a man, to be welcome within our evil headquarters inside the great mountain of manlyness. We should probably clarify that anyone lacking the glorious Y chromozome, regardless of what they feel they are, don't have the right to determine what they are or what they stand for, or for that matter, whether they're allowed to stand.
  19. For AoE, what about giving every AoE spell a base AoE, then allowing you to scale the AoE up or down in size based on your INT, this would fix the "only occasionally useful"ness of the AoE bonus, without going down the road Sawyer suggested, which to me just feels sort of off. Personally I'm I'd like the decoupling duration and AoE, I like me some customization, however it wouldn't be an easy change to implement, as you'd have to retain/recreate balance whilst doing so, perhaps if duration was moved into resolve spell range could be added to INT.
  20. Isn't the first name like the standard thing to call someone? Is there really a point in adding a last name when everyone knows who you're talking about?
  21. You finally get why the patriarchy used their puppets Anita and Zoe to destroy the evil 4chan...
  22. Before reading anything in this topic: Pull down your pants to double check that you are indeed male. If you find yourself without the key signature male genetalia, kindly close this thread, this isn't a conspiracy to retain our firm grip on every aspect of life, this is merely a perfectly normal golf club. This forum appears to be lacking a place for us men to unite in the opression of the female gender, this topic has therefore been created to discuss everything from how to best brainwash women into thinking they enjoy piv, to mass media control, to which car truly represents the Y chromosome. The first motion I'd like to propose on this board is one to fabricate evidence to discredit Anita Sarkaasian, before she can prove that the female companions in Fallout New Vegas main gameplay function was to serve the PC (who as we all know, was male by default in character creation), all agreed?
  23. Yeah, she isn't exactly my idea of an honorable, principled, person, but that doesn't mean she's stupid enough to risk being charged with fraud when she never defined the amount she'd give, nor claimed she had an actual arrangement (at least from what I understand, she never said she'd spoken with them, just that she'd give them money), and thus could appear clean in the eyes of the law whilst donating a dollar and pocketing everything else.
  24. Thanks, I'm hardly SJW though, I'm very libertarian.
  25. Love your accent, very informative video.
