  1. A drivers license is a privilege. The chance to vote is a right. BOTH require responsibility!
  2. Not much of a Stein fan. Think her ideas are crazy. Still, has a sufficient amount of support personally believe she should have a place on the stage also. Along with Johnson, course. Oh I don't disagree. But personally I think the criteria should be 50 State ballot access.
  3. Here is an interesting tidbit. In the debate on 9/26 everyone on the stage will have an association with the Clinton Foundation. Donald Trump has been a donor, Lester Holt (the moderator) was on the board in 2003-2004, and Hillary Clinton uses it to collect bribes. No wonder the CPD didn't want Gary Johnson there. He would be the only one not "in" on it.
  4. Master of Orion. The new one. So far I'm really enjoying it. It has a easy learning curve. If you played MOO2 you can jump right into this. Not as detailed or as customizeable as Galactic Civ but is is clean, enjoyable, and bug free (so far).
  5. If anyone had told me Trump would be in the lead after 35 votes I don't think I'd have believed it.
  6. I have to admit a certain satisfaction as seeing Trump succeed inspite of a media machine that has shed all pretense of impartiality. A Trump Presidency would be entertaining at least so long as one or both houses if Congress are in the hands of the Democrats. Although that will be far more likely to be the senate than the house. I do NOT want a man like him to have unchecked power. Or anyone else for that matter. If Congress is arrayed against him we can pass four quiet years with not much happening. Hopefully our choices in 2020 will be better.
  7. Venison with carrots, bell peppers and red potatos cooked in a crock pot all day. There is plenty left for tomorrow too.
  8. Interesting assessment. I seriously doubt it will happen but... http://www.smobserved.com/story/2016/09/10/politics/donald-trump-will-not-debate-hillary-if-gary-johnson-not-allowed-to-participate/1894.html
  9. Interesting that you omitted that the media was taken for a ruse to show how incompetent they are and how they now have to admit the following instead: Please do a little research before saying " Hilary started the Birther Obama controversy " Its has been debunked many times now, Hilary Clinton did not start this malicious rumour http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2015/sep/23/donald-trump/hillary-clinton-obama-birther-fact-check/ http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2016/09/16/no-hillary-clinton-did-not-start-birther-movement/90500762/ No Clinton is not so ham fisted as to have her name attached to something like that. But it was started by her supporters as Michael Smerconish discussed at length on his show yesterday. If you think she had nothing to do with it you are kidding yourself.
  10. Yes I am aware of a view from some that " Trump is doing everything right " This is of course subjective. Some people think letting a comedian play with Trumps hair demonstrates Trump has a human side and " cant be that bad " Of course Trump is human and has some positive ideas. He is not all bad , he is not like some despotic world leaders like Mugabe or Putin But his views on " how to make America great again " concern me immensely. He is cavalier with the truth and is happy to make comments in the interests of political expediency and the later retracts them when it suits him. I am really only concerned with realistic views on policy that are consistent and feasible and Trump keeps failing in this regard It concerns you that he is cavalier with the truth but you support Clinton????. OMG, I haven't laughed that hard all week. She is a habitual liar and if nothing else about her has been that HAS been proven to you! Now as for your last sentence I don't disagree with you. Much of what Trump wants to do is just not going to happen. Much of what Clinton wants to do can happen. That does not make it good though.
  11. Don't read this Bruce... it will upset you: http://www.cnbc.com/2016/09/16/trump-is-doing-everything-right-including-letting-jimmy-fallon-mess-up-his-hair-commentary.html
  12. I took nearly all my classes at night. I was going through a bad time then, money problems, marriage problems, you name it. The night of my final in my Statics class I stopped by a bar in Davie FL called the Oar House to study a bit before the test. They had Icehouse on tap for $.75. I was so stressed and upset that one just followed another. When I left there I was hammered. I walked across the street and took the test because I was firmly in the DGAF zone. I passed. I got an A on it. Either I was relaxed and brilliant, or just lucky, or it's true God looks after drunks, fools, and children because that night I was all three.
  13. Bruce i believe you are mistaking revulsion of Clinton for support for Trump. Most of his supporters do not think he is the best candidate... just better than her.
  14. Funny, I thought they exist to take care of all the boring **** without which modern society couldn't function. Silly things like making and enforcing laws and the like. That is what I mean about doing more harm than good along the way. In the US there are 2057 individual laws governing just the sale, transport, and regulation of purchase of alcohol. That is just FEDERAL laws. That isn't counting State, County, & City laws. The IRS internal regulations and tax codes are over 3.4 million words long. Just to give you an idea is you printed that in Arial size 10 font at 60 lines per page it would be over 7500 pages long. And that is just the IRS. Every State and small has their own tax code. From 2000 to 2007 Congress CREATED 452 crimes. These are actions that in 1999 were not criminal, in 2007 they would land you in prison, or in debt to Uncle Sam for a long time. There are 4450 FEDERAL crimes with mandatory prison time. Most of which were "created" since 1938. Since becoming President Barack Obama has signed 386 new laws into effect and issued 191 Executive orders as of 2014. Bush did even more of both. At what point in enough going to be enough? We are being governed to death. I'm probably breaking a law right now sitting here at my desk in my own home. Every one of these laws requires a staff to write them, that means staff jobs. Lawyers to fight or argue them, that means jobs. Congressmen to pass them, political jobs and a huge never ending bureaucracy to enforce them and when convenient or incentivzed to do so, look the other way on them . This is gotten way out of hand. Small wonder the US has the highest percentage of citizens in prison of any western nation.
  15. Don't get down on Volo Bruce. Once you get past his schtick the man is no fool. And he has a lot to add too. Volo makes his points using absurdities but even if it frustrates you... they get your attention, you read them and know where he's coming from. The ideal internet forum IMO is like the Star Wars Cantina from Ep 4, only with ideas not aliens.
  16. Bruce there is a dirty little secret you need to know about governments. They exist solely for the purpose of self perpetuation. Governments are made of of people who want their jobs to continue and enrich them. Absolutely everything they do is in furtherance of that goal. If they happen to so some good along the way that's great. Those who serve in Government if they trouble themselves to think of that at all console themselves with the notion that in the end they did more good than harm. To quote one of my favorite Americans George Washington "Government is not reason, it is not eloquence — it is force. Like fire it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master"
  17. Stein is definitely on 38 as of now. She should be able to get six more. They have the signatures, they just need the State elections folks to approve. It looks like 44 is where she will top out. The LP is on the ballot everywhere and has some 4k candidates in races across the country,
  18. Perhaps not unexpected but bad news nonetheless. The Comission for Presidential Debates, an organization founded by the Democrat & Republican parties to prevent another Ross Perot has fulfilled it's intended function and blocked the Libertarian ticket from the first two debates. It was of course a rigged game from the start. The requirement to make 15% in five polls, two of which did not regularly include them in their polling, was daunting enough when news outlets did not regularly cover the candidates. It was no surprise I guess but still very disappointing. There is still an opportunity to make into the two in October but the hill to climb is steeper since most undecideds will have picked a horse after the first one. http://reason.com/blog/2016/09/16/debate-commission-blocks-gary-johnson-an
