  1. You know... I remember a long time ago, growing up in north Florida. Florida had a pretty active professional wrestling circuit. A lot of big names got their start there. I was so into it. There was a two hour show that came on every Saturday morning. I never missed it. I used to mimic the moves, I read the magazines, all that. My Dad told me it was all fake, it was all a show. I never believed it. I would actually argue with him about it (as much as a thirteen year old argues with his father at lest). Finally the day came the circuit had an event scheduled at the Orange Lake Jai Ali Fronton. I was stoked. I begged my dad to take us. He did. We had great seats too, right in the front off to the side. The headline match was Barry Windham vs "Big Cowboy" Ron Bass. They were to two biggest stars of the circuit. During the under card I noticed both of them sitting together in the screened in players area so I walked over. They were talking about fishing like two old friends. Like two co-workers. When their match came up they did their thing with all the theatrics and I knew my Dad was, as he usually was, right. The whole thing was BS. It's just a show. I told you that story to tell you this one. As most of you know I got into politics when I got out of the military. It was entirely by accident. Right place at the right time. I ended up being an adviser on veteran affairs to Don "Big Daddy" Garlits during his run for Congress. My only qualification for that was that I had in fact served in the military. The previous guy (who was now the policy adviser) hadn't even done that. One of Mr. Garlits pet projects was his Drag Racing hall of fame and museum in Ocala. After he lost a contentious race with the democrat opponent (a lot of name calling etc, questioning patriotism, the usual) she goes to DC and gets him a grant for an expansion of the museum and he pays her campaign debt. Every election is made to sound like the most important one ever. The donkeys are good and the elephants want to poison the air and kill school children. The donkeys are communists and want to take your freedom away. It sounds a lot like professional wrestling doesn't it? Because it IS a lot like it. It's all BS. It's a show. No matter who wins the outcome, if different at all, will only be different by degree. It's not for nothing I call them all Republicrats and Dempublicans. They are far less rivals than two haves of a peanut in the same shell. The only way to stop this cycle is to break it. Elect a third party or independents to Congress, or the Presidency. Now more than ever a third party vote is not wasted. It's the only productive vote there is. Because the show will go on:
  2. You know it would almost be worth four years of Trump just for the laughs at all the wailing and gnashing of teeth it would produce in the left. This despite the fact that aside from immigration Trump has always been left of center. Almost anyway...
  3. " Waaaaaaaaaaaaaa....the media is being unfair ....waaaaaaaaaaaaa " Volo blaming the media is like getting angry at Bioware for betraying gamers because they became more inclusive True enough. You can't fault a compass for pointing north. The media is mostly biased towards liberals. It's just how it is. You can find plenty of media of varying degrees of popularity and quality that slant right. You can tilt at windmills all day. The Wall Street Journal. U.S. News and World Report. Investor's Business Daily. Fox News. NewsMax. Breitbart. WorldNetDaily. The New York Post. The Washington Times. Etc.,.. Many people nowadays tend to get their news from sources they are already pre-disposed to agree with anyway. Check this one out, tell me what you think. I've been reading/watching for a month now. So far I haven't found a bit of bias, It's pretty straight forward & factual: http://www.oann.com/ Its not bad, it neglects certain facts like the fact the FBI found all or most of the deleted emails. We discussed this before, data recovery software works well in cases like this https://www.yahoo.com/news/fbi-finds-deleted-clinton-emails-112714810.html?ref=gs That story is old and inaccurate. She used Bleachbit, which makes the data impossible to recover. Try not to use year old stories as evidence. They get stale real fast. Edit: "The Hill" also seems fairly unbiased, although it's also a matter of which stories get coverage at all. When I read Breitbart, it's less that I like the conservative bias, it's that they cover the stories that interest me, which no one else covers. Now this is a thing. CNN and the "big three" tend to ignore stories they'd rather not run altogether.
  4. What I'm liking about it is that the news stories make no suppositions or draw no conclusions from the stories. The tone of delivery seems pretty matter-or-fact. Bias is usually found in the choice of words that give the story a tone or in a summary sentence or two that paint the facts of the article a certain way. And in the headline. That has been conspicuously absent from OANN so far as I've noticed.
  5. I didn't say that... Leferd did

  8. For the first time since 1980 a major US newspaper has endorsed a Libertarian for President: http://www.richmond.com/opinion/our-opinion/article_b79cc2b6-8ed5-532c-92eb-4a37e779c433.html
  9. Barack Hussein Obama. Certainly not a fan of free speech (or any other kind of freedom) himself.
  10. We use the metric system exclusively for work. But the funny thing is anything we have to present to any government agency is converted to standard prior to. Even they think it's a waste of time.
  11. I didn't do near as much as I was planning. And I didn't do as much of what got done as I was planning on doing. I hired out the floors, kitchen cabinets and counter tops to the places I bought the material from. I did do all the drywall work and painting and replaced the front door (can you believe you need a permit to that?!?). i installed a new security system and replaced the light fixtures and ceiling fans. I put a new tub, toilets, and vanities in the bathrooms and replaced the hot water heater (what also needed a damn permit). The cabinets and floors were the two biggest jobs though and the time vs cost vs aggravation led me to think it might be better is someone sled did those.
  12. Well the NWN toolset did allow you to make some very high quality and detailed areas pretty quickly once you mastered it. The heightmap system was much more powerful and produced much prettier results but t was VERY time consuming. Plu I had a lot of trouble getting scripted triggers to work right in NWN2 that I never had trouble with in 1. I didn't much like the dialogue display and camera zoom in 2 when there was no voice over. Which few mods did. There were very few "epic" mods made for two. There were a dozen or so for one whose quality exceeded the OC by great lengths.
  13. Speak for yourself. You don't speak for me. He speaks for the collective. You are we, we are you. Well as long as we are alike in one very strong way. I speak of course of our hatred of Jose Mourinho. I think everyone on this forum should share my views on politics and support my general sentiment on matters like SJ, this would make debates much less complicated and then we really would all have similar views and get on like that much debated but allusive and metaphorical " forum family " objective we aspire to achieve But lets say on this forum we had to decide on an overall ideological view around things like politics and SJ, so that means you have to support one forum members views where reasonable...so this has got nothing to do with personal life choices like who you date or how you should be spending your salary At least my views can be justified and explained and are based on current and historical metrics, even if you disagree at least my views are logical Sounds like we are having an WoT US Election Thread.... election. And Bruce is running. Then allow me to nominate another outspoken forum member, WoD. WoD vs Bruce for the philosophical presidency of the WoT forum. I can't wait for the debate!
  14. Meeting the building inspector at the townhouse today. I didn't realize I had to pay for him to come out. That is quite a racket they have. Afterwards I'm meeting the association manager. She mentioned she might know a renter who would be interested. That would be a lot quicker and easier than I could have hoped.
  15. Condolences TN, that sucks.
  16. We're going to build a wall on the southern border. It will be 700' high and made of ice and stone and spells to keep the cartels, terrorists, and Others out. And we are going to overhaul the border patrol. From now on it will be a sworn brotherhood and the agents will join for life. And they will keep us safe, for this night and all the nights to come!
  17. I can't really complain though. If any other pair than Clinton or Trump were at the top of the ballot Gary Johnson would not be doing near so well or get as much attention as he has gotten. the best outcome I'm hoping for is Johnson getting at least 5%-10% of the vote and whoever wins the Presidency the congress is controlled by the other party.
  18. Oh, he'll certainly try. And probably screw it up just as badly. The GOP is having to deal with Trump in part because all the folks who they thought/hoped would be the young saviors of the party-- Rubio, Walker, Jindal-- turned out to be really awful at facing any kind of campaign adversity. Well, that is certainly part of it. Most of the people I know either are Republicans or lean that way (my social circle is pretty small) and the thing I hear the most from them they vote for the Republican candidates and then are horrified when the folks they elect go to Washington (or Nashville) and act like Democrats. More spending, more intrusion, more... more... more. I remember saying to someone about Mitt Romney; Can you name 10 things Romney would have done differently than Obama? Can you even name 5? The two parties are a lot more alike than they are disalike once you get past the social issues. And I really think those matter far less to everyday people than the media and politicians will credit. Rubio rode into the Senate by talking the Tea Party talk. But he never heard the story about the man who rode a tiger. He's likely headed back for the Senate because his Dem challenger has a lot of corruption questions and is only running for Senate because he was about to be voted out of his House seat. But Rubio had to beat off three primary challengers to do it. To say the least his brand is not what it was. Of all the big Tea Party names only Mike Lee and Rand Paul kept faith and it didn't serve Paul in the end. So after the disillusionment of the past three elections and a whole host of Republican candidates falling over themselves to offer up another bowl of vanilla creme democrat lite pudding and the conservative voters start looking for something different. Unfortunately they found Trump. And here we are. The sad truth is any of the other Republican candidates would have made a better President but I couldn't say for sure any of them would be doing as well against Clinton as Trump is.
  19. I am posting this for it's comedic value only.... and brother does it have some! http://www.infowars.com/special-report-alex-jones-asks-hillary-clinton-not-to-kill-him/
  20. like MW just said, if you played the custom content and user made mods NWN1 could keep you busy playing new stuff even today. It's literally the gift that keeps giving. If all you wanted was the stock game, it was a stinker. NWN2 was far better on that count. But once you played it, you played it. That's it. That was why I like NWN1 better.
  21. Dammit man, 2016 has struck again. https://www.yahoo.com/movies/gene-wilder-star-of-blazing-saddles-and-willy-wonka-and-the-chocolate-factory-dies-at-83-195513023.html “But Charlie, don’t forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he always wanted… He lived happily ever after.” RIP Gene.
  22. As a whole which game did you enjoy more? NWN2 had 3 campaigns that were much, much better right out of the box than NWN1. The game was certainly much better to look at. But the community content never reached near what was produced for NWN1. The tool set, especially the heightmap was VERY difficult to use to create large areas I found. I think NWN1 was strong not because the game itself was good, it wasn't. The OC was awful, SoU & HotU were a little better. It was good because is was so easy to mod. It was the modders working long hours for free to make content that made NWN1 great. I think the dame still has legs even today. New NWN1 content is still tuning up regularly. For me based on the "whole experience" NWN1 was better. And that is owed more to people who never mad a dime on it than those that did.
