  1. Ah forming week. The utility uniforms have changed (Charlies are the same) and the squad bay looks a lot newer and nicer than what I remember. But it hasn't changed that much.
  2. Using a nuclear weapon? No, that will not happen absent some extreme act of war. Using the power of the office against an opponent? That is already going on and is hardly new. Under Obama the IRS had been ruthlessly suppressing all PACs whose politics his party disapproves of. Under Clinton many of his outspoken opponents found themselves under IRS scrutiny. And Nixon, Need I say more? Muslim database? If you don't think something along those lines does not already exist you haven't been following what's going on around here. Snowden did not become a wanted man because he sold secrets to foreign governments (at first). Targeting terrorists families... that may happen. I doubt it and hope not. Internment camps? No. Not happening. We have a bad history with that sort of thing. Race riots in US cities? Noooo... say it ain't so. It's happening right now.
  3. But to be fair I thought that post was directed towards Gromnir so I didnt think I needed to read it. I should have read it, my bad But now your comment towards my question unintentionally demonstrates why I get frustrated and confused by some of the anti-Obama and anti-Clinton comments you guys sometimes make You are an intelligent person who has some real life experience, you made a very controversial comment and I asked you why you would think that, For me you must have a theory or reason but it doesnt answer the question in anyway to read that Webster quote because thats just a opinion that is subjective and could or could not apply in some circumstances I want to know your personal view I will get back to you tonight. This will be a rather long response. But let me say Mr. Webster's words are exactly on point.
  4. Bruce if you are not going to trouble yourself to read the material how can you expect to have a discussion about it? As for why, I will allow a great American thinker and patriot, Daniel Webster answer that question: "Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters."
  5. what they "don't talk about" is not same as multiple instances o' obama calling for the creation o' a national police force. it simple ain't. again, Gromnir has concerns 'bout a national police force, and such a thing is unconstitutional regardless, but the claim you made is simple untrue. the issues you raise is valid. am even agreeing with some o' what you say. no need to muck up the water with mischaracterization o' obama statements. HA! Good Fun! I do sometimes take the liberty of boiling a topic to it's simplest terms. But I have to say you are one of the few members on this forum who will recognize you may be wrong or at least your comments may be misplaced due to emotion. This is a positive character trait Hold up here Bruce. I am only agreeing with Grom in that yes, I did intentionally over simplify my statement to you when I said Obama is calling for a "nationalized" police force. He is way too smart to actually say something like that, that is so obviously unconstitutional. But as much as I respect Gromnir, he's wrong. That is EXACTLY what the President and his admin is trying to do. If you take the time to actually read the documents and articles I linked the committee that commissioned the Rand Corporation study, was created by his administration is is ultimately answerable to him. And it's very obvious in reading their findings they are trying to justify the creation of something that has never existed. So yes, mea culpa on quoting Obama's speech but I stand by my assertion on what he tried to do here. Now this may all be moot. In 120 days we will have a new President. Congress will only be in session for 41 of those 120 days.Very little is going to happen between now and then. But it is worth noting for those casting a vote in a few weeks what the intention was here.
  6. And when will you finish building the catapult? Do NOT tempt me like that
  7. I planted the whole garden in pumpkins. They are starting to form! There are 75 individual pumpkin vines. That might make 125 pumpkins give or take. That's a lot of pumpkins.
  8. Pay your student loans.... or ELSE motherf----r! lordy. we do feel sympathy for those who took out massive loans to pay for school. is there any school that discourages ignorant 20-somethings from mortgaging their futures in the name o' higher education? "hey kid, go work for ups instead." how many art history, political science and communication majors at private and public universities 'cross the nation woulda' benefited from such advice? HA! Good Fun! They have a mortgage with no house! I told someone last week who is starting U of Memphis in the spring he'd be crazy not to take his first two years at Shelby County Community college. It's the exact same curriculum for $40 hr vs $92 hr. I took my first two years at Miami-Dade & Broward Community Colleges before going on to FAU. I'll bet I save $15k that way.
  9. OK just to re-iterate. I did not say a national police force is imminent or inevitable. But I do think I'v given everyone enough evidence that this is a thing the American Left (Barack Obama and his ilk) wants. Now I seriously doubt anyone (talking about citizens rather than political leaders) want this thing because they think it will be a weapon used against them someday. Too many people entertain the notion that their government is a benevolent giant that only wants to help them. It isn't. The government is a monster that you need to have around, but have to watch every minute or it will eat you. Those who don't see the danger in this whole concept have never read a history book. As soon as you give the Federal government the monopoly of Force along with the monopoly of power we are all pretty much f----d. Of course I won't live to see it.
  10. Pay your student loans.... or ELSE motherf----r!

  12. No, I did quote that speech but I am far more concerned about what they want to do and don't talk about: A task force to look at Federal oversight of policing (http://www.cops.usdoj.gov/policingtaskforce ) recommends that very thing: http://www.cops.usdoj.gov/pdf/taskforce/Interim_TF_Report.pdf . They even had the Rand work up a study on a military force to be used domestically against American citizens :http://www.rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/monographs/2009/RAND_MG819.pdf . It hasn't received the news coverage it should have because it is not a thing that will or can imminently happen. But it is enough to keep in mind this is the direction that a political faction that controls half of the political power of this country wants to go. It has received some news coverage :http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/crime/item/20305-obama-unveils-plan-to-further-nationalize-local-police , and of course some of the left are talking it up like it was a good thing: http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/bal-video-sharpton-calls-for-justice-department-takeover-of-policing-20150430-premiumvideo.html. I don't need to explain to anyone that a government that feels it is acting in the "public good" can do terrible harm to innocent people. Especially when it recognizes no restraint on it's ability to act in what it thinks is the "public good". And it is more than a little disturbing to see agencies like the EPA, FDA, IRS etc that do not have "police agencies" under them buying tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition and body armor, http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/jan/7/golden-hammer-feds-spending-millions-to-arm-agenci/ . While the argument may certainly be made this is all in the name protecting the people from "terrorists". The problem is that tern has a pretty fluid definition. In 2009 the DHS direction Janet Napolitano and the Obama administration said the real terrorists where people just like me: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/apr/16/napolitano-stands-rightwing-extremism/ How about we have a federal government that does what the federal government is supposed to do and stay the hell out of everyone's business?
  13. He may not be a racist, but he's perfectly willing to exacerbate and exploit racial divisions if it helps to advance his and the left's agenda. Same goes for Hilzilla. Edit: Btw, did anyone notice how she lectured to not jump to conclusions after the latest terrorist attack, but immediately jumped to conclusions after the latest police shooting? You know every now and then you do say something I completely agree with. Since before he took office Obama has been floating the idea of a "national" police force to replace city, county, and state police. His exact words were that it would be as "well armed and well trained as the military". And since it would be an arm of the Federal Government and a law enforcement agency it would be under the control of the President. City, County, and State police do not answer to the Federal Government in any way. The answer only to the people and leaders of their community, county & State. That won't do for the left's vision of the future. So to advance his goal is is necessary for him to undermine and destroy credibility in local law enforcement whenever possible. And he has certainly done so a number of times in the last seven years. It's not racism which is a reactionary response. It's nihilism. There have been more than a few leaders in the history of the world who shared this trait with him. They are not remembered as good people by and large. Are you suggesting Obama is involved in a surreptitious and orchestrated campaign to undermine the police in the USA so he can replace them with a Federal police force....that doesn't exist ? In that many words... yes. Such a police for does not exist, that is true. But he has on at least five different occasions over the last eight years called for the creation of such. Of course Americans being the freedom loving sort we are see the real danger behind something like that. And there there is that annoying Constitution getting in the way. But if there is one thing Obama has learned is that he can ignore that annoying document written by dead white slave owners as long as he can get enough people to like what he does in ignoring it. But at the moment a "national police force" is a solution without a problem. To implement the solution you need to "create" the problem and undermining local law enforcement is a good way to start. Now he is out of time to be sure and Hillary has never said anything to make me think she would go for something like that. To her credit she is not and ideologue like he is. But the left and it's disciples tend to take a "long view" on such things and he may hope the seeds he plants today will bear fruit later on.

  15. I wouldn't say he's a racist. He hates everyone who's last name isn't Obama.
  16. Glad you are OK Hurlshot. Car accidents are bad news (speaking from experience). Did the other guy even have a driver's license?
  17. Well it looks like the Donald will claim victory in the Obsidian poll and become President of the Obsidian board. His first act will be to build a wall around the NWN2 forum to keep the Bioware posters out... And Canada will pay for it!
  18. They are leading the league in blown saves and are perilously close to ending the even year streak by missing the playoffs altogether. Don't look now but the Marlins are only 4 games back and with Stanton back in the lineup they are on a winning streak.
  19. Relevant on some level? No... it's relative to them and their kids (who will be fine I'm sure). But as a topic of discussion? Nah. Who gives a f--k?
  20. I don't remember if this has been posted here or not. But it is funny so at the risk of being repetitive:
  21. I just did a whole Battlestar Galactica thing in MOO. After losing a war to the Meklar I took one colony ship, one cruiser, one destroyer, and two civilian transports and fled to a planet on the other side of the galaxy. I didn't buy much time though. The Meklars found me withing 25 turns. I haven't gotten a damn thing done since installing this game.
  22. The truth is the "establishment" DNC has been wanting Clinton since 2008. There is no way in hell it was not going to be her. They didn't want Obama but he ruined that for them by winning. With Bernie they took no chances and sabotaged him. But Hillary was already poison and has only gotten worse over the years. The truth is had they run someone like Brian Schweitzer, Mark Warner, Tulsi Gabbard, or even if they had not torpedoed Jim Webb this election might look very differently. A huge part of Trump's success is because Hillary Clinton is rabidly hated by 48% of the country.
  23. Yes here firearm ownership is a right. And like a lot of other rights it is not absolute and may be forfeited if exercised irresponsibly.
  24. Everyone is hung up on what an important job the Presidency is. But the truth is any jackass can get that job. And of the 44 Presidents we've had at least 15-16 of them had no business being there. I doubt Trump would even turn out to be the worst of them.
  25. That basket of deplorables sure has a lot of people in it! http://www.politico.com/story/2016/09/trump-shatters-gop-records-with-small-donors-228338
