Meh, don't care anymore. There is barbarism enough to go around in the middle east. I say we wash our hands of it and turn our backs on it. Civil wars, terrorism, Return to Zion, jihad, protests, embassies, West Bank, Gaza, houses, rockets, rocks, it's just enough already. They have been trying to make peace there for 50 years. Concessions offered and rejected. Deals made and broken. It's a fools errand. If you put a Sunni, a Shia, and a Jew in a room together and told each the other two was the last of their kind they would probably all fight to the death. I'd say give every man, woman, and teenager in the ME a rifle with three full magazines and a box of grenades and tell them to do what you think is best. Make peace, don't make peace, whatever. It's past time to be done with the whole lot of them. Civil war in Syria? Nukes in Iran, Saudi Arabia funding terror? Screw them all. You cannot stop any of it and you shouldn't try. Just let it be known that if you use nukes you will be attacked with nukes. Fire one off at Tel Aviv and the US, UK, & France will exterminate your entire population. Still want them? Go ahead and make them. Enjoy the expensive upkeep of weapons you dare not use. Most of the problems in the world today stem from the powers in Europe reorganizing the world to suit their ends after WW1 and WW2 (to a lesser extent). The only thing that ever held artificial countries like Iraq together was violence. First the British, then the Baathists with a few in between. Take away the violence and all these groups who hate each other start fighting each other. What a shock. It's best to just let them sort it out. Had the US never invaded Iraq ISIS would still be just a figure from Egyptian mythology and Syria would not be in the mess it's in. There was nothing to like about Hussien but a whole lot of people would still be alive and whole today today if he were. But it's a lesson we are incapable of learning because here we all go interfering again. Last year US combat troops were killed in Niger. When did we declare war on Niger? Oh they were hunting terrorists? Right, don't let the public forget to be afraid of that hobgoblin. Injurai was right. Past time we worried about our own s--t and left everyone else to theirs. Don't send arms, don't send aid. None of it ever gets into the hands of the people who need it anyway. Besides, there and thousands of charity groups already doing that and doing a better job of it. Just my $.02

You should take that up with your State governments. Most of that is on them.

Realistically if the US were to invade Iran, I mean really invade like Normandy or Inchon not some half measure that is done lately, the outcome is not in doubt. The Iranians will mount a fairly effective resistance I have no doubt. But by no means could they hope to defeat the invasion. A US victory is a foregone conclusion. But it will be costly for both sides. Thousands of US troops, hundreds of thousands of Iranians, most of whom will be citizens who never have or would harm anyone. And the end result will be another hostile, occupied, and ruined country with a never ending insurrection and a middle east even further destabilized. Since none of that sounds appealing I'd say we take the route that leaves hundreds of thousands of people not dead.

That's one thing the democrats and republicans have in common. They both love going to war. To quote US Army Gen John Buford "There is something about mayors, politicians, and dignitaries that troubles me. They're too fat, talk too much, and they never think twice about asking someone to die for them."

I am definitely doing this: https://www.wikihow.com/Make-Watermelon-Wine I just ordered a dozen empty wine bottles and corks from Amazon and I still have the 5ga wort pot from my failed beer making days to use as a fermentation vessel. And in a matter of weeks I'm going to have more watermelons than I know what to do with.

Welcome back Gorth! I see you put your time away to good use. Best of luck with it!

I wouldn't say the NY Post is unimpeachable, but it definitely ins't Breitbart or Mother Jones. If it prints a thing is so it's a safe bet it is.

So, what about this news article is surprising to anyone? https://nypost.com/2017/12/18/obama-protected-hezbollah-drug-ring-to-save-iran-nukes-deal/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=site%20buttons&utm_campaign=site%20buttons Iran & Syria (where dealing cocaine is a death sentence) are helping smuggle cocaine into the US, laundering the money, then using the money to fund Hezbollah? Barack Obama knew all about this and deliberately shut down the DoJ & DEA investigation into it. None of it is suprising. Put me down for option 3

I live in NW Tennessee, I wouldn't even know where to begin looking for illegals. There are plenty of folks of Hispanic ethnicity around and I'd say about all of them were born somewhere north of the Rio Grande and south of Canada. Or maybe not. I don't much care who is from where or what they are doing as long as it does not interfere in my life. So today I bought and downloaded Deadfire but figured I'd take another run through PoE (and actually finish it this time) first. I'd say my entertainment is pretty well set for a few months.

I have roughly 5 acres cleared for a garden. 20k square meters give or take. Not all of it is planted though. Maybe about 75% of it. I ran out of seed before I ran out of space back in March. The carrots and black eyed peas are the early pick. The rest has a ways to go yet. I'll wait a few more weeks to see f they give me any late pods then clear the plants and turn the soil and let it rest before the fall plant. It costs about $50 per acre to fertilize it twice and apply insecticide. It's pretty labor intensive especially since I'm working alone. If I had to put a dollar value on my time this would be a losing business for sure. But having a pantry full of fresh vegetables is it's own reward. There is over an acre of watermelons that will be ready in mid June. Those you can make a little bit of money on. The farmers market sells them for $5 each so they will buy them from private growers for $2.50-$3 a piece.

I spent most of the day yesterday picking vegetables. Then last night choosing what I want to keep and putting the rest in hampers. This morning I loaded up the truck and took them to the farmer's market in Dyersburg. I just got home with a full tank of gas and $118 in my pocket. Now it's time to start canning and making preserves.

Kangaroos are attacking people over their McDonalds food. http://www.foxnews.com/travel/2018/05/02/tourists-warned-not-to-feed-kangaroos-mcdonalds-fast-food-after-series-brutal-attacks.html Ugh, I don't know how they can stand that crap! Who buys hamburgers from a clown anyway? -
So, you want to invade the USA?

Single handedly? Mmmmm, I doubt that. He was a factor though. Kim suddenly felt like talking after visiting China and offers concessions after his nuclear test facility collapses. And the check is not in the mail yet in any case. This may be a ploy for time and nothing may come of it. Or Kim my promise the world in renege a year or two down the line. Or sooner. It's not like NK has never done that before. It's a little soon for back slapping and Nobel Prize nominations. Of course that prize is a f-----g joke anyway Le Duc Tho, Henry Kissinger, Yassir Arafat, Barack Obama are all winners and all responsible for prosecuting wars. And I do believer our old buddy Adolf from Austria-Hungary was also nominated for one. Unless that big coin is really made out of chocolate I'd tell them to keep it.

I usually drink my bourbon on ice. But today I had a craving for a mixed drink. So I decided to make whisky sour. The problem is had no cherries for the sour mix. But I do have blackberries. So I pulped a few blackberries with water, lemon and lime juice (fresh squeezed of course). If you use a sweet fruit like blackberries do NOT add sugar. Mix in a blender a few seconds. Then add one part sour mix with two parts Four Roses or some other quality corn whiskey and shake with ice. Gentlemen, that is mighty fine. Then relax with music and think your life over. I'm playing this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMmTkKz60W8

Never mind. It's entirely too nice a day for political discussions.

James Paxton throws a no-no last night: https://www.mlb.com/cut4/james-paxton-finished-off-his-no-hitter-with-his-fastest-pitches/c-275880834 Also, it looks like Tebow might actually amount to something after all. His average is well.... average. But with a SLG of .435 and an OPS 0f .762 he's in the top 10 of Eastern League hitters with over 70 AB.
