  1. Now you'll have that song stuck in your head all day!
  2. Samantha Bee, Roseann Barr, the NFL, the NFL players, Trump, Disney, CNN, Fox News, yadda, yadda, yadda. Want to make it all go away? You can:
  3. What does our future look like? or Or worse yet
  4. See? One problem solves the other!
  5. For reasons I'm sure most of you understand I don't comment on the politics of the great state of Tennessee. It's highly unlikely any comment I've made here would ever be held against me but you just never know. So anyway, this story is big news here. One of our candidates for Governor as suggested the rise of internet pornography is to blame for school shootings: https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/politics/tn-elections/2018/05/30/diane-black-pornography-root-causes-school-shootings-tennessee-governor-race/654620002/ Yeah.Porn and the internet are hardly a new couple you know. In fact I'm pretty sure porn beat shopping and bill paying online by a year or two. But I guess we could examine every boy in every school and if one arm is noticeably stronger than the other we'll keep an eye on him As far as Ms. Black is concerned, she will fit right in in Nashville. Of course this is no less absurd than blaming inanimate objects so it's not like anyone in this debate is exercising their brains much.
  6. The next time I make an off color political comment I'm just going to say "that was the Ambien talking". Bourbon, you are off the hook! Just a thought though. Had Rosanne said that about Condleeza Rice do you think she still would have been canned? In other words are insults only insulting when the politics of the person being insulted lean left? Because she has said a lot of off that wall s--t over the years, the majority of which was cheered by the "left".
  7. This is great: https://www.theonion.com/george-r-r-martin-promises-fans-the-winds-of-winter-1826115223
  8. Hey cut me some slack here. It's a slow news day.
  9. Well... I'll agree there was a reason. As to it being good or not we'll see. So far it hasn't been a disaster but we have flirted with it. One thing for sure, the economic expansions we have seen '71 would not have happened if the total number of dollars was a zero sum.
  10. It seems Louis Farrakan is calling for an "end" to white males. http://dailycaller.com/2018/05/27/louis-farrakhan-end-white-men/ So... what'cha got in mind there Lou? Death Camps? Firing Squads? Burning at the stake? You might be able to round up all those gun control loving Democrats easily enough. Unless they are hypocrites they probably don't have the means to resist. But I think you'll find the Libertarians and most of the Republicans to be a much tougher nut to crack.
  11. @ smjames & Malcador: No argument from me that the record isn't much better. But is seems to me that being in charge of something should require and understanding of that thing. That said actual government experience is also important. Trump has on a number of occasions threatened do do things the Constitution does not empower the executive to do. And he's hardly the first one there. Barack Obama was 10 times worse because he actually DID things he did not have the power to do and was allowed to do so because Congress did not stop him.Back on subject military officers who came to office with no political experience also have a poor track record. Eisenhower is something of an exception in that he was not a disaster. But no one has him in their top 10 either. Grant & Taylor were both poor Presidents.. The only one to be a success was Washington. @Pidesco: Carter's biggest flaw was his indecisiveness. That is something a President absolutely cannot be. It's better to be decisively wrong than to dither. It lead Carter to do things in half measures which all but assures failure. On another note, if you have been reading my posts over the years you know Carter set in motion a series of events that culminated in the Great Mortgage, Banking and Financial Crisis of the early 2000's. He does not bear the blame alone but there is no doubt it started with him.Of course he can't be blamed for not seeing the future but decisions made with a poor grasp of economics and US History should surprise no one when they turn out badly. @Gritino: I would not describe Obama as evil. He did not act out of malice or ill intent. Although he was perfectly willing to sacrifice the liberty, proceeds of labor and even lives of people in the name of some "greater good" (as he defined it). He did change forever the relationship between the American citizens and the government and not in a positive way IMO. He also did more to marginalize the power of Congress than any President since FDR and again, not a good thing IMO. That does not make him evil but for those who value personal liberty over some nebulous and intangible concept like a "social contract" might see this as a distinction without a difference.
  12. Oh easily. But for this discussion they have to be worse than Trump but meet the criteria in my proposed amendment.
  13. Franklin Pierce, Richard Nixon, and Jimmy Carter.
  14. How does that old saying go? If I had a dollar for every time a woman snubbed me no woman would ever snub me again.
  15. The President is the commander in chief of the US Military. I'm hoping that having served and knowing what that is like they will be less reckless about ordering them into combat. I'm recalling Bil Clinton's ill-advised intervention in Haiti where US Airborne troops are landing in a hostile situation with no ammunition because Clinton did not want any casualties.
  16. I have an idea for a 28th Amendment of the US Constitution. Article II Clause 5 states: "No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States." I suggest we amend that as follows: No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, having completed a minimum of two years of honorable military service to the United States, having served a minimum of two terms in the United States House of Representatives, or one term in the United States Senate, or one term in a national appointed office confirmed by the United States Senate, or one term as Governor, Lieutenant Governor, or other State wide elected office of any state in the United States, or at least two terms as a legislator of any State within the United States, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States. If the last two years have demonstrated anything it's that the executive office is no place for amateurs. Of course I can think of three off the top of my head who met all those requirements were worse Presidents than Trump so you never know.
  17. Seems a little overpriced.
  18. I don't remember if this has been posted before. What the heck
  19. You are two for two today!
  20. It's understandable. I know that there are many soldiers who are so done with war that they're anti-war. Hell, if I'm not mistaken, many vets voted for Gary Johnson and William Weld because they were anti-interventionist. Compare that to Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, who are both warmongers. We're going to get along well Gritino. Just a feeling.
  21. I'm attending a Memorial Day service at the VFW in a few hours. I hate dressing up but I'm not buying on of those "uniforms" they like to sell there. When I turned my rifle in I was done with uniforms too.

  23. I never knew that one. I just looked it up after reading it. The Roman Empire fell fifteen hundred years ago... but it's sort of still around in many ways. OT I'd hold a door for a dude if he were behind me too. Letting it shut in someones face just makes you look like an ass.
