  1. DS9 was the high water mark for Star Trek IMO. That show was almost always good. It was sometimes outstanding. And when it was Trek was never better. Except the ending. That was kind of a mess. But let's face it, few shows ever end well. In fact the only one I can thing of that really stuck the landing was Cheers.
  2. Got up this morning and took Sunny and Bela for a walk down to Cold Creek and back. We used to follow it all the way to the river but they are both elderly and Sunny has health problems now. After we got back I made them breakfast, 2 cups of Blue Buffalo Wilderness for seniors and two cups of Fresh Pet Select warmed up in the microwave. I made a pot of coffee for myself and we're all now sitting on the porch. They are snoozing and i'm returning e-mails and talking to you fine folks. The sun is shining. The sky is a cloudless azure blue. The air is clear and cool. It's going to be a good day.
  3. Motherboard. I didn't fix it exactly. More like worked around it by changing the IRQ and a few other things.
  4. That show would have been so much better had they stayed away from the time travel nonsense. I HATE time travel story lines.
  5. When Wil Betelgeuse Explode?
  6. He could do worse!
  7. The takings clause of the 5th Amendment is one of the worst things in the US Constitution. The private property of citizens should not, for any reason, be subject to the whims of the state. And the "just compensation" is nebulous enough that the government can and usually does get away with paying pennies on the dollar. Unless of course they find something to arrest you for. Or just "suicide" you. Once upon a time Republicans fought against Eminent Domain seizures. That was until Trump turned them into the government loving bastardized and slightly uglier version of the Democrat Party. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/trump-justice-department-sues-to-seize-private-property-for-border-wall-construction-2019-12-27
  8. This book has been on my "to do" list for years. Seems an appropriate time to get around to it. I know the broad strokes of Watergate but the details are fascinating.
  9. The new Zumwalt Class ships have had little good news in recent years. Between propulsion problems and a primary weapon system that was, and I'll be kind, not ready for primetime, the US stealth destroyer has had a rocky start. Looks like things are improving: https://www.defensenews.com/naval/2020/01/23/heres-how-the-ddg-1000s-stealthy-hull-design-handles-stormy-seas/
  10. Remind me how that worked out again?
  11. Irony. Definitely my favorite form of humor: https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/22/india/rooster-****fight-death-intl-hnk-scli/index.html
  12. $23T in debt/unfunded liabilities. It's expanding at a rate of $62,300 per second. Do you know what happens to the US Dollar once it is not longer the standard for international trade (which it is only because of it's stability)? And there will be no relief no matter who wins in November. The Democrats are promising to spend even more. But hey, at least we got a f-----g space force out of it.
  13. Let's start off a serious topic with something absurd: The United States Space Force has a new logo. People seem to think it look familiar: Hmmmm.... where have we seen this before?
  14. We are so screwed: https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/trump-responds-critics-rising-federal-spending-debt-deficit-presidency-fundraiser-2020-1-1028833452 Time to buy more gold, bitcoin, ammunition, seeds, and non-perishable food. Tick tock tick tock...
  15. Has anyone been following the impeachment trial? I started to but lost interest. It really doesn't matter what he did. They are not going to remove him. And the Democrats just fail as the party seeking justice because if all the political parties is this sad tale were reversed they would be employing the same defense of the Democratic President. It's just become a f-----g sad joke.
  16. Trying to fix a problem with my laptop. This is it... no more windows machines for me. If I have to buy another I'm switching to mac.
  17. The Cow, like the voter does have another option... turn around and walk away
  18. Book of Gorth, Chapter 2 Verse 7
  19. Al Gore too. He is not a "true believer" in the green cause. He jumped on that bandwagon when he decided to run for President in '91.
  20. Some 17 year old from Sweden who travels in luxury and gets her ass kissed profusely has determined, based on her many long years of climate research, that time is running out: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/greta-thunberg-says-world-leaders-are-running-out-of-time-to-tackle-climate-emergency/ar-BBZaNHg?ocid=spartanntp Good! Thank God! I can't wait until we pass the point of no return. Then all the people like this can finally STFU and let us all dies in peace!
  21. It seems Australia is mad at it's inhabitants and is trying to kill them.
  22. I just saw Tim Tebow got married over the weekend. Well, actually I heard it on SiriusXM, I've got BBC World Morning on while I was in the shower. Anyway... I thought the news guys said he married Demi Lovato. I was a little surprised because she is kind of trashy and has drug problems. Seems an odd choice for that guy. It wasn't. It was Demi Lee Peters the former Miss Universe.
  23. The greenest thing you can do is plant trees. Plant life (most of it) metabolizes CO2. More trees = less CO2. I planted three in my back yard a few weeks ago.
  24. No kidding, seems like a no brainer to me.
