  1. Except it's not. I don't watch their shows but I think Hannity, Carlson, or Ingarham advocating the systematic extermination of human beings would have made the news. All three have also been advocates of smaller government which is also very un-nazilike. Unless they have seriously changed their message since I cancelled my DirecTV service.
  2. One cataclysm coming right up: https://www.usdebtclock.org/index.html
  3. That is a little unfair. This Nazi comparison stuff has long past grown tiresome.
  4. I'd be satisfied if the next President is quiet, competent, knows and follows the limitations of the office, does not start any new conflicts abroad nor deliberately antagonizes anyone at home. That is the kind of leader we need right now. And we are not going to get it. In fact such a person could never get nominated.
  5. Beat me to it!
  6. Corey Booker has dropped out of the running. : https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/sen-cory-booker-suspends-presidential-campaign/story?id=67472609 Marianne Williamson dropped out the other day too. I had no use for her and small use for Booker. Of all the Democrats left (with a realistic shot) Klobuchar is the most tolerable from my perspective. I can't say I'd endorse her because my endorsement seems like the kiss of death. Sorry Tulsi.
  7. And that is a shame!
  8. Leave us alone Stop Spending Money
  9. Some of the proposals I've heard is everything over $40k. But I'd start at $15k. And yes that means people in poverty pay taxes. Right now, they don't. Well, if the stuff the government does with the money it takes from us by force is so goddamed awesome that men with guns will take everything you have, kidnap you and lock you in a cage if you don't pay then everyone who benefits from it should bear 15% of the burden of paying for it. But that's just me.
  10. I can fix illegal immigration right now: work permits for anyone who wants them. And as long as you are employed (within a reasonable amount of time) they don't expire. Why is there a demand for illegal immigrant labor? Because they have no leverage. You can screw them on money and they can't do anything about it. Make them all legal and you have to pay them minimum wage (at least). If the war on drugs has taught us anything (spoiler alert: it hasn't) it's that you can't get rid of a thing in demand by attacking the supply of the thing. But you CAN get rid of the supply be attacking the demand. Plus not having people treated like slaves is a very good thing.
  11. The US economy lives and dies on consumption. VAT & sales taxes make consumption more expensive. When an activity costs more you get less of it. Bad idea to cut your own throat.
  12. Flat Tax is the way to go. 15% flat tax on all income and everyone pays. From the burger flipper to Jeff Bezos. No exemptions, no deductions
  13. Oh I hear you there. Eleven years ago I left South Florida for the same reason. There I lived in a 1100 sq' house on a 400 x 600' lot in a suburb where I could ear my neighbors TV from my kitchen. For 2/3 of what I sold that house for I bought 24.5 acres AND built a house on it. I know family ties you tightly to north Cal but the beauty of your profession is that it's everywhere should you ever want out. Housing costs go up until the reach a point no one can afford them. Then the demand drops and they start to go down. A thing is worth what someone will pay for it. But here is the thing and there is no getting around this... rich people paying more in taxes will not benefit you any more. It will not make the costs of living go down. It will not even delay the debt apocalypse since any new tax revenue will be more than offset by runaway spending. And it's basic economics: if and activity becomes less profitable there will be less of that activity. Increasing things like capital gains tax means a decrease in economic growth through investment. Taxing assets means a divestiture of assets. More taxes now means less revenue later.
  14. Are you drawing a comparison between two these two facts.? Because one has little to do with the other. So is this a statement envy or a faulty understanding or economics? Or just frustration.? Because it's not like the 1% took anything away from you personally right?
  15. To whom it may concern I have been drinking since 11 AM so if I am a bit more argumentative that usual... something something
  16. Let's kill them
  17. Out of all the flaws of the people who seek political office over their fellow citizens I think hypocrisy galls me the most. More than dishonesty and megalomania to tell you the truth. the latter two are just to be expected. but with hypocrisy they are just mocking you right to your face.
  18. Assuming you take the man at his word. Political leaders have a long history of crafting laws in ways that exempt themselves from it. "Socialism is for thee, not for me" and "All animals are created equal but some animals are more equal than others". But even if he could do all the s--t he promises as President, and spoiler alert: he could not raise enough money to fulfill his promises. He could not do it if he seized every nickel of the top 1% and had all of them put in labor camps. Which means deficit spending on steroids. Well, it already is on steroids. But all the democrats are promising to spend even more. Trump IS spending more. Meanwhile: https://www.usdebtclock.org/ Tick tock tick tock. Hey, IDGAF. Let the whole thing burn. But I'm an old man with no family to worry over and I'm already well prepared for the collapse of all things. What about you?
  19. I cannot argue with that! Or much of what else you said. My job and my dogs are likely the only things keeping me from going feral at this point. I'll tell you one thing, hell will freeze solid before I ever live within a city limit again. Solid. That life is no good for anyone!
  20. Obama's former campaign guru warns against Bernie: https://www.politico.com/news/2020/01/11/bernie-sanders-trump-jim-messina-097578 Bernie Sanders would be a f-----g joke except he isn't funny. He is a multi-millionaire who says it's immoral to be a millionaire. But he's not giving up his money or any of his luxury homes. In both of his Senate terms he ran as a Democrat until after the primary elections and THEN switched to independent so he would not have to face a challenge from the left. Then looks down his nose at the Democrats and piously exalts himself over them. He checks off all the boxes of the caricature of a politician. A rich old white man from the political aristocracy so far removed from "the people" he might as well be from another planet. But he has legions of idiots eating out of his hand actually believing his sales pitch. Personally I hope he gets nominated. An election between one dangerous idiot and another is better than we deserve
  21. Yesterday I turned and fertilized the garden. I'm planting 5 acres this year. The soil has been resting since May. Now WHAT I'm planting is still a matter for consideration. I still have a considerable amount of canned produce in mason jars in the pantry. Strawberries, jalapenos, and tomatoes for sure. I have been wanting to try honeydew melons as a cash crop. But they are a pain because of seeding requirements. You have to start them in trays. Butter beans, black eye peas and snap peas are also a for sure
  22. The voters in Iowa are worried about electing the wrong candidate to take on the Orange Menace. I'll save them some trouble.... they are ALL the wrong candidate. Not t take out Trump. He'll undo himself. But to be President... none of them are good choices. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/elections-2020/many-iowa-democrats-are-paralyzed-by-fear-of-choosing-the-wrong-candidate-to-take-on-trump/ar-BBYPEkU?li=BBnbklE
