  1. Spotting Alts used to be a bit of a game around here. A long time ago. Pay it no mind. Post as much as you like. All opinions and posters are welcome here MD.
  2. In a way I hope Bernie does win. After four years the US will still pretty much the same country it always was. No free college. No free healthcare. No locking up people in labor reeducation death FUN camps (yes that's it). Maybe the crazy lefties that are lining up behind him will get discouraged and get on with their lives.
  3. Agree completely. The leftwingers of the Democrats epitomize what C.S Lewis was talking about in his quote about the unrelenting tyranny of moral busybodies.
  4. There is a pretty big difference. I don't recall Obama supporters promising to do the very things people said they were afraid he would do. Bernie's own campaign staff is talking about gulags and riots and killing millionaires.
  5. Bernie can't win. Not even with her. The US is not ready to elect a 78 year old communist or social democrat or whatever it is he calls himself. A 5 minute you tube search will turn up enough damming comments from him to doom his candidacy. His comments supporting Castro and Ortega in the 80s will cost him South Florida which means he can't win Florida. Bernie could actually drive Democrat voters to Trump. Or, more likely, have them stay home. He'll win the young votes. Maybe even some of the minority votes. But that is not enough by half. Unless Trump is damaged in this impeachment dumpster fire or somehow implodes (always a distinct possibility with him) a Bernie nomination guarantees his re-election.
  6. The one thing Gabbard could do that no other Democrat could is take votes away from Trump. All the rest the Red will vote Red, the Blue will vote Blue and the fight will be over the middle. Gabbard changes that and would force Team Trump to focus on the base rather than fight for the middle. But it's moot. The Democrats won't have her. The party bigwigs think she is disloyal and the liberal left thinks military service is immoral.
  7. I wonder if the coronavirus in China is in any way related to the strain that puppies are regularly immunized for in the US? Humans are immune to that version though IIRC.
  8. NFL HoF player Chris Doleman passed away after a battle with cancer. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/former-49ers-dl-hall-of-famer-chris-doleman-dies-at-age-58/ar-BBZqKv2?ocid=spartandhp
  9. You're in good company here: I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever in religion, in philosophy, in politics, or in anything else where I was capable of thinking for myself. Such an addiction is the last degradation of a free and moral agent. Thomas Jefferson Disagree as you know. But no vote is wasted as long as you are square with the guy in the mirror. At this point, vote for Trump or (insert Democrat Nominee here) I don't think I would be. I didn't have strong opinion on that one. Even after Vegas. But I knew nothing about bump stocks. Certainly never used one. With just four exceptions (2 bolt actions and 2 semi-auto) none of my firearms would have looked out of place at Old Kindersly Livery and Horse Corral in Tombstone AZ in October of 1881. Having seen one in use I've changed my mind a little. If automatic firearms are illegal (except by license) and hardware modifications to make semi autos fire at the same rate can be made illegal too. But to tell the truth rather than regulating by action type Congress would be smarter to regulate by cyclic rate. Banning firearms by action type is... problematic.
  10. That is pretty presumptuous that they assume THEY are in the elite isn't it!
  11. Can't imagine why Trump supporters hate the media: CNN's Don Lemon and guests mock Trump supporters as uneducated and illiterate
  12. With all the travelling you've done in recent years ir probably feels good being in one spot for a while
  13. Exclusive footage of the Trump Defense team in the Senate trail:
  14. Oh please please please please please let Hillary Clinton get into this election: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7936395/Hillary-Clinton-believes-win-ran-2020-renews-attack-Bernie-Sanders.html
  15. My total out of pocket cost for my education was somewhere around $5k. All I had to do is serve a tour in the military. Most of which I enjoyed and all of which came with many opportunities for education that I took advantage of. But you are absolutely correct about trade schools. HVAC mechanics will never want for work. Nor will electricians, auto technicians, etc. And it's a nice advantage starting out your career not being a quarter million in debt. That definitely flattens earning curve between the two choices doesn't it? You know the sad thing is Community Colleges were the best thing to happen to advanced education since the athletic scholarship was invented. And they are turning into the very thing they were created to be an alternative to.
  16. One side note. Want to defeat your loans interest rate? Pay weekly. If your loan has a contract payment of $200 a month pay $50 a week. You will be paying at a rate faster than interest accrues and it will speed up the amortization schedule. But be careful. Some loans have a provision against that. They hold partial payments in escrow until a full payment is received. Once again, if that is in your contract ask them to take it out BEFORE you sign. Everything is negotiable,
  17. Most contract loans follow an amortization schedule that determine how much of each payment is interest and how much is principle. All contract loans are going to be front loaded. You are going to buy interest before principle. That is a hedge for the lender in case you pay the loan off early. Once the interest for the loan is bought the loan is amortized and now all or most of the payments go to principle. The thing is, the amortization schedule is negotiable. Heck just about everything in the loan is. BEFORE you sign it. Some lenders put really nasty things in loans like pre-payment penalties and such. You MUST read that contract before signing it. If you don't like something insist on changing it. If they refuse tell them where to shove that contract. If you can't understand it take it to someone who does. I realize 18 year old college kids are getting screwed coming and going. Hurlshot is right. The colleges are screwing them by jacking up prices. Lenders screw them with bad loans. The government is screwing them by requiring to take classes that have nothing to do with their field of study. The students get it coming and going but mostly they walk right into it. And that is the problem. They are adults and they AGREED to the terms they are saddled with. I didn't agree to it? Why the hell should I have to pay for their ignorance? Most of the Democrat candidates think I should however. Nuts to that. There is another problem with this loan forgiveness BS. When has subsidizing the ability of the consumers to buy widgets ever resulted in a decrease in the prices of widgets? Never. Do you think the University is getting a nickel less? They are not.
  18. Florida is proof that weird s--t drifts south
  19. Just how many kids does she think Satan has? https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/After-Trump-s-spiritual-adviser-calls-for-all-15005707.php

  21. Heck just imagine if the USFL hadn't folded. He might be running that rather than... whatever it is he's doing now.
  22. US Army is having trouble with physical fitness: https://mwi.usma.edu/army-physical-fitness-problem-part-1-eight-myths-weaken-combat-readiness/ I bet Shady and Manifested remember this double time cadence: Army Army tell me please Why your belly hangs to your knees Is it whiskey or is it wine? Or is it a lack of PT time? I'll tell you one thing. No one ever said such about the Marine Corps. Whatever else you might be, if you're in the Corps your ass WILL be physically fit. We might not be smart but we fast and we strong!
  23. I hate to say this but I had completely forgotten about that whole sorry affair. Didn't forget about Michael Vicks misdeeds however. I guess the level of villainy is in the eye of the beholder. Probably says something about me I guess. Something not good.
  24. Just saw this. This is just tragic. https://www.tmz.com/2020/01/26/kobe-bryant-killed-dead-helicopter-crash-in-calabasas/
  25. This is a pretty decent story from Tim Alberta at Politico: https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2020/01/24/2020-guns-trump-obama-michigan-voters-102790 The short strokes is Trump's supporters mostly don't like him. But they hate the Democrats and the Democrats hate them.
