    I'm also on a laptop but my setup is a little 'special' because I use an external video card (GTX 660) when gaming. I've also got 8GB of ram. Anyway, the biggest perofrmance annoyance right now is the in-game UI elements, especially the character screens. Very laggy. I'm sure they will be improved a great deal over the course of beta. Also loading screens are currently really unpredictable and wonky, with some taking as little as 4-5 seconds and some taking upwards of 20-30.

    Yeah, I'm afraid of that journal bug myself. Kinda killing my drive to keep going with videos right now. I'll likely wait for a later stage of beta. Just seems like the logical thing to do.

I was just going to edit my above post but could not find an edit button?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGl6A1aGEWg&feature=youtu.be This might be the last one for awhile because of the aforementioned performance issues, not to mention there are other serious bugs that make an LP tough. Not surprisingly, an early beta test is somewhat unstable for this. I will try to continue if I can.

    Hey all, just an update on episode 2: I'm having really nasty video lag / poor optimization lag in the character and inventory screens and during loading screens. Had to literally spend 2 hours in Premier fixing the de-sync issues it caused. I'm either going to see if I can come up with another way to record it or be forced to ****-can this series for the time being. Episode 2 is encoding/uploading now. Should be up in 1 hour.

    Hey all, the first episode of my Backer Beta LP series is up now on my channel. Please feel free to comment or request anything specific you would like to me to cover in the LP. This is only the 3rd LP video I've ever done so please go easy on me! Appreciate any constructive criticism etc. I'm off to record episode 2 now. Expect to see it up in the next 2-3 hours. My youtube LP might be an option for you and any others will slow / unstable connectoins.

    I've heard it's around 1.5TB. Of course, I'm the person who said that, who I heard it from, so it's very likely not correct. Wow, 1.5TB? Must be all the beetle animations.

    Haha, just chill, I'm sure it will all work out, and whatever is gonna happen will happen. And I think we are all just waiting for Steam at this point so not much point for devs to comment yet. They are probably just waiting for it to go live, just like all of us.

    I'm doing a first impressions / LP of the beta (25-30min blocks) on my new channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCveZBtCIpqOkHvCxTDJ4F3w I have all day Monday and Tuesday free so I'm hoping to get at least 2-3 episodes out on day 1. Streamers will of course have content up faster because of their 'streamyness'

    I think physical manuals are quite cool but I view them as more of a novelty, collector's item, conversation piece than something actually needed and practical. Anyway, the days of almost every game having an 'actual' manual that doesn't come as part of collectors set but as just a normal part of the game are looong gone. So manuals have in fact, become purely collector's items.

    Yeah, I just became a backer too.... just 3 days before it shuts. Better late than never! I wanted to show my support at the 11th hour. Had to be a part of it. Me three. Backed and ready to go! I want PoE to be a massive success. As much as it can be.

    Overall I was seriously impressed with the Gamescom footage. Rushed to over to make my pledge right away after watching! When he got TPW'ed by the beetles I was sold. (and laughed my ass off) Yes there are things that will need tweaking and improvement, as is only natural for a beta. I'm really excited to see what everyone praises / criticizes when they get their hands on the backer beta. Still not sure how I feel about the character creation & stat screen for example, but I don't think it's terrible, just needs something...

    Yep, same here. I'm also a backer of several other RPGs and PoE really looks like the best of the bunch, IMO. They flat-out scored all the nostalgia points for BG and IWD. It looks really sharp to me and just has the whole kind of feel/aesthetic that makes me happy. As a tester I just want to offer any feedback I can that will help it become even better than the classic Infinity Engine games. Also many younger players out there have really been bashing the graphics etc. which kinda makes me worried about its future potential on Steam as a top seller. I want to show my support for these games. (and less support for the crap out there!)

    With Steam, it's out when it's out. Even Obsidian can't do much about it they delay it for some reason. Usually it's around 10am PST but many games get delayed anywhere from 1-4 hours, because Steam. I'm not complaining at all btw, just how it goes.
