  1. I had this problem as well. What worked for me was remapping the keys back to the original layout, W A S D and space. Then when the race starts and the lights go from red to green before hitting the mouse button to accelerate I hit the space key and then the mouse button. The swoop hits the roof like always and then drops immediately back down and works perfectly after so I can finish the race.
  2. Gotta agree with him, short development time made Jedi Academy suck a whole lot of balls too. That quote above though, have there been any scripts released for the removed sequences? Or is that guy just passing on rumours? Even just reading what happens would be good, and would make that last level of generic hallways and random enemies tolerable. *Edit. Nevermind, found the thread. :">
  3. STAR WARS KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC II - THE SITH LORDS Update ReadMe Version 1.0a 11-Feb-2005 ############################################################## Thank you for downloading the STAR WARS KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC II - THE SITH LORDS Update This update includes the following: Manual pdf ##############################################################
  4. When I played HL2 I thought the engine could have been designed specifically for a Jedi Knight game. Force Grip gravity gun style would be outstanding, and free reign to tug anything about you want instead of the few things you're supposed to what be pretty good too. It would definitely need better characters though, Jaden and his/her whiny pal were the most irritating game characters ever. Jedi are supposed to be warrior monk style folk trained from childhood like shaolin monks. So why are so many Jedi in things lately such stereotyped whiny little teen ****? I blame Anakin Skywalker.
  5. That was one of the positives, as far as I was concerned. I don't like playing an existing character (Revan was an exception because, technically, he wasn't "existing" before KOTOR was made). Uh, did Kyle Katarn exist before Dark Forces? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Where? I thought he was invented for Dark Forces way back in 1995.
  6. Hey thanks people. The item crafting sounds interesting DarthDoGooder, for some unknown reason I really like pulling things apart and making new stuff :"> it's one of the reasons I like arcanum. The swoop biking, is it a proper race with other riders or still just a time trial with added obstacles? It's good to hear that they've improved the pacing of Pazaak, have they made it any prettier though? The awkward taking out of the game when playing pazaak was one of the reasons it lost it's appeal for me after awhile. It was like the game was saying "hey, stop being immersed in the Star Wars universe for a while, my old son, and be reminded of card games on your old mobile instead." Thanks for all the info.
  7. Hi, I've had a good look around on the boards and the various reviews but I can't find any info on the mini games in TSL other than the fact that they exist. Could anyone tell me what Obsidian have done to overhaul them, is pazaak better? Swoop racing more exciting? Turret game less tedious? Also how have they upgraded item upgrading? Being able to build things from scratch sounds interesting, can you build almost anything or is it only certain things? I'm not asking for story spoilers though, that's why I've posted here and not the spoilers forum. Thanks in advance for your time.
  8. Being able to play a "chessmaster" style villain would make Kotor2 perfect. Subtle dialogue choices to guide others into the path that most benefits me. Ahhh... Mission: You'll have to kill me! But I don't think you will. Revan: No, I'm not going to kill you Mission, but Carth will. He'll think you've joined me and he'll kill you without a thought. Mission: But... Carth's not like that! Revan: You think not? He's just abandoned you Mission. Would he have left you if he thought otherwise? He killed his son for being a Sith, what makes you think you'd receive any different treatment? That kind of thing would've made that whole scene so much better.
  9. I've got another question about the upgrades system. Will you be able to actually build things from scratch? For example get ahold of high quality components and build yourself a hybrid weapon (like a disrupter/ion rifle) or a very high quality ordinary weapon that has the potential to be more powerful than an upgraded one could be, because you're building it from scratch?
  10. PC, and with a vague hope it will be a little less.... x-boxy than the original. Peter Molyneux summed up the difference between console and PC games once while talking about fable. He said PC games are targeted towards people who actually want to play the game and invest time in it, while console gamers like something as simple as possible to play when they roll in from the pub. Don't know if it's true or not but it is the attitude of at least one major figure in the game industry, I just hope obsidian don't share his viewpoint. If they ignored it and made a more complex PC-style game for the X-box I'm sure it would delight the many Kotor X-boxers as well as the PC players.
  11. Rouge squadron? Isn't that the crack team of elite Jedi makeup artists? Anyway, just had to disagree with the mention of Jedi Academy. Speaking from a single player perspective Jedi Outcast was far better and even that paled in comparison with Dark forces and Jedi Knight + Mysteries of the Sith.
  12. I doubt you'd deflect bullets with a lightsaber. Just think about it: Bullet is fired, bullet flies, Jedi whips up lightsaber, bullet hits lightsaber, lightsaber melts bullet, high speed blob of molten metal formerly known as bullet hits Jedi in face. Ouch. Anyway, the only chance you'd have of playing a non-jedi in a starwars CRPG is if they set one during the time of the empire before ep IV, when all the jedi are dead or hiding and the only sith are vader and the emperor. Then you could have an entire game that didn't feature even one of the force wielding wee buggers.
  13. but isn't that the same thing as cheating? who'd want to play black jack if the dealer had his own deck with better cards in it... The Pazaak card game is definitely getting some love from us designer types and will have some changes. Rich (Akari) touched on some of them. It is still going to be an optional part of the game. But hopefully there will be even more to like for you Pazaak fans out there. -Ferret Is pazaak getting a cosmetic overhaul as well? I mean, the game was fun to play, but man was it ugly. Individual looking cards (ie. not plain boxes with numbers in) would brighten the game up no end.
  14. I'm willing to bet most teens hate cutesy games and pay no attention to ratings. I know I didn't with films when I was a kid, I watched Aliens when I was six and watched Silence of the Lambs when it first came out and saw many 15 + 18 rated films at the cinema before I was anywhere near old enough. The problem is though that in the slightly twisted and disturbed world of the popular media and overly concerned mother's groups all you teenagers are fluffy little peachy darlings who must be wrapped in cotton wool, protected from the nasty things and only shown flowers 'n ponies and suchlike. The result? Pure tripe, as bereft of any serious weight or substance as a milky way. Far below the quality possible if mature themes are accepted. As has been grumbled about many times a lot of the DS stuff in Kotor was lightweight thug stuff because any more serious evil would lose the teen rating. More realistic depictions of evil would make the game more popular with both teens and adults playing it. Quite an unfocused rant, that. I just can't see the point of teen ratings, a large number of star wars fans for both games and films are well past worrying about age ratings and the majority of teenagers will buy their own games and ignore age ratings anyway (I mean, what self respecting teen would ever let their parents know what they are up to?). Surely it would be worth the risk to make a Star wars game with a thoughtful, serious and mature plot, givve it a mature rating and see how the sales go. I'd predict they'd be far higher than any teen rated game.
  15. Will Kotor 2 definitly be a teen game? It says that it will be darker in tone and there is a rating pending sign on the official website. Maybe there is a small change in direction at lucasarts going on? Republic commandos is supposed to be a dark, gritty kind of game as well. Maybe with some more mature games and the apparently quite dark Birth of the Empire coming out next year the higher ups in the lucas empire have realised that a large majority of lifetime star wars fans are on the wrong side of middle aged by now and all this cutesy teen business isn't really necessary. Here's hoping anyway. B)
  16. the less kotor2 relies on known star wars elements, the better. bio set kotor 4000 years in past... and they still had to contend with fans and lucas being all slavish to canon. heck, Gromnir thought EU stood for European Union 'fore we seen the bio star wars boards. HA! Good Fun! True, but there were things mentioned in Kotor 1 like Empress Teta, the great hyperspace war, krath and other things I'd never heard of. Not to mention Exar Kun. If Kotor 2 is going to be referencing things like that then some description of what these things are would be useful.
  17. Is there going to be any expanded fiction in the game? Histories, faction details etc. for those who aren't famliar with the Star Wars EU.
  18. I was wondering what form this new upgrading of items will take. Will it be similar to Kotor 1 where you have a limited number of items to upgrade? Or will you be able to use different items to upgrade almost anything? For example adding high quality energy packs etc to a common as muck blaster to make it more powerful, with the pc's skills determining how many upgrades can be added.
  19. Whoo, all good ideas, I think. Hey thanks, the way I see a thread like this is that combat, skill and force mechanics as well as multiplayer (or lack of it) and the main plot are already set in stone harder than the ten commandments at this point and there is no way in hell the guys at obsidian are going to change what they have decided on. So we might as well save our virtual breath. However there is still plenty of development time left and if people come out with small suggestions like the database or constructive criticism on Kotor 1's minor flaws (like the forced choices) then there's a small chance a dev might see and think "hey, that's a good idea! We'll have that." which can only make Kotor 2 better. Another thing I'd like to see in Kotor 2 though would be more unique items. Not uber powerful ones, just items with a bit of described history to them. Lightsabers for example were way to generic in Kotor 1 for something that's supposed to be individual to each jedi. A good example of what I mean in terms of described history for items can be found in some of the saber mods for Kotor 1, especially sepithro's sabers. I have to admit that I never thought of the Ebon Hawk as mine in Kotor 1. I mean, Carth and Bastila piloted it and used the funky communicator thingy, mission fiddled with the computer at one point and T3 used the sensors. All my character did was stand about and occasionally be used as gun turret monkey. The layout of the ship itself was bland as well, all those pretty lights and none could be played with. I agree though that with a lot more functionality and personality put into it the ebon hawk would make an excellent stronghold.
  20. After just replaying Kotor I've thought of something I'd love to see in Kotor 2. Not sure if I can describe what I mean very well, but I'll give it a go. That bit when you play darkside, Mission's dead, carth has scarpered and the Ebon hawk is on it's way to the star forge. The admiral contacts the ship and talks to bastila with the PC looming menacingly off to one side. The admiral says that her forces will have to pull back. The camera zooms in on Bastila's eyes as she looks questioningly at Revan, then it zooms in on Revan as he gives a very small shake of his head. Bastila tells the admiral to continue the attack and at the end of the conversation Revan stands there looking contemplative with a smirk on his face. The thing I like about that bit and what I'd love to see more of in Kotor 2 is that it gives the pc character. At that point Revan truly looked like he was a military genius with a cunning plan, rather than the blank faced and baffled idiot he'd looked in every conversation before that. What I suppose I'm saying is that the PC in sith lords would be a lot better if there was more physical characterisation in conversations and cutscenes, rather than the occasional wave of a hand. Things like evidence of the force, moving stuff about with it in cutscenes, force lightning folk, force healing people. Actual expressions and proper camera angles in the conversations, as in the example above, to emphasise that the PC actually posesses a personality. Anyway I've described what I mean as best I can, what do you think?
  21. I've just seen a dev post that states as Kotor 1 saves were not designed to ever be ported to another game, and Obsidian have altered the file format for their own reasons it would be impossible to add a kotor 1 save into Sith Lords.
  22. As the magazine articles are already wrong or unclear on a couple of points could you reveal whether the PC is Revan or if he/she is returning as an NPC? A dev answer one way or another would be nicely definitive. Thank you.
  23. That's a damn good idea, a kind of Obi-wan ghost style of thing, giving out sage advice to the PC. Hehe, having a light side pc with a dark side Revan's ghost whispering vengeance in his ear would be funny.
