  1. Knock this crap off PLZ. It's against the Laws of God & Man for you two to agree...
  2. You'd get a better picture by looking at annual sales figures. Then looking at R&D projections for the coming year. For example, there is a trend underway among console game companies to develop PC game titles in order to diversify their product lines. You don't do something like that unless you have projections indicating a downturn in your primary product market in the next 12-18 months...
  3. Agreed, tho' the catagory "Sim" should be "Casual". Real "Sims" are stuff like Steel Beasts ( Tank Sim ), Silent Hunter III ( Sub Sim ), or flight sims like Jane's F/A-18 Hornet, Falcon 4.0, Strike Fighters Project 1, European Air War, M/$ Combat Flight Simulator 3, or the IL-2 Sturmovik series... To compare these to the Wil Wright's Sims is like saying Fallout is nothing more than a Diablo clone. With the inevitable reaction from the military simmers making the most rabid of the FO fans look like a Church social group... Military Simmers ( & Flight Simmers in particular ) tend to have the most up to date computor hardware & are most savvy in regards to drivers for their equipment. They are the most demanding of all computor gamers & tend not to suffer fools gladly to the point of it being their religion. Arouse their *Ire* at your own risk...
  4. Well, for those that claim they didn't have problems with HL2 & STEAM, I congratulate you. That hasn't been my experience. I'm sorry, but I still feel ripped off. I will not buy another STEAM game & will strenuously advise people to do the same. eventually, valve will get the point, or they will go the way of iply. There are only so many users with broadband, & a helluva lot more who have dialup & will continue to have dialup for the forseeable future. It's never good business practice to alienate a sizable portion of your potential customer base...
  5. I've had nothing but problems with HL2 & STEAM. I purchased my copy retail at Sam Goody on the day of release, waited 5 hours on my dialup to get confirmation. Then waited another 14 hours for verification so I could play the damned thing. As I don't have the connection for MP, all I want from it is offline mode. Every two weeks or so, I get a message that it's "not available in offline mode", then I have to go back up on STEAM, login & update ( about a five hour process ) just to play the damn thing offline. Selecting Properties & saving the game data onto disc doesn't work. Re-installing the game doesn't work. So I finally said to hell with Gabe Newell, Valve, & STEAM and uninstalled the damned thing. No Valve game will pollute my HD until such time as STEAM is no more & you can install it like a normal piece of software. Screw 'em...
  6. Son, If you really truly believe that crap, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn that I'll sell you cheap...
  7. Uh, did you actually manage to uninstall it? I had to delete it manually, because after uninstalling HL2, then Steam, the Valve folder would still be about 5 Gb. Neat stuff, this Steam, huh? Anyway, If some other developer ever thinks of something like Steam, I don't think they will be very forthcoming about it. That makes um... well, a whole lot of us. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yup, manually hunted that sucker down & *Slayed it*, folder by folder...
  8. Agreed. Neither TOEE, nor Po0r2, were up to IWD2 standards. Let alone PS:T or BG series standards...
  9. I finally uninstalled that sorry peace of crap last week. I will *NEVER* purchase another game that requires you to have STEAM. I don't care how *good* the game supposedly is, it ain't worth the hassle of fighting with STEAM... Period. HL2, for me, has been nothing but a ripoff...
  10. Go Feargus, Go !!! ( Or at least don't get caught! ) Seriously though, Happy Birthday F.U. May it be a pleasurable one...
