  1. You're just a little ray of sunshine, aren't you?
  2. I can just imagine this case coming up in front of a British judge: Barrister: The case concerns property held on an MMORPG, mlud. Judge: An MMORPG? Barrister: It is a form of computer game played on the internet, mlud. Judge: Internet? Barrister: It is a method of linking together many computers, mlud. Judge: Computer? Barrister: It is a device for processing information, run by electricity, mlud. Judge: Electricity?
  3. I liked Morrowind a lot (not sure it qualifies for best game ever, though), but the dialogue system was a real weakness, especially on the second play through, when I struggled to remember which words triggered certain important events.
  4. I went back and tried my username, and it produced 'Latex Sex' (w00t) , which I prefer to 'Death Dealer' or whatever my real name gave.
  5. Aside from my first playthrough, when obviously I didn't know where to go, this method has always worked for me, even leaving Mira at level 6 or whatever. It's great to do this, because
  6. I'm glad we were able to reach some level of agreement.
  7. Or at the very least show us a movie of the ship-repair fairy mending the ship. It would save a lot of confusion later.
  8. These are the bits I don't agree with. It's not patently clear to everyone involved. The Japanese that I know who support these textbooks aren't disputing the facts, they're disputing the importance and interpretation of those facts. Revising history is not the same as falsifying history - it's finding a new interpretation based as much on the facts as the old one. It's the idea that one can 'allow' for bias, if by 'allow' you mean that you can remove it from the equation. There are indeed social scientists who take that view, but the point I was making was that in your comments to Azarkon you were implying that it was the only view possible. It's not. There are plenty of historians and social scientists who believe that history cannot be 100% objective and shouldn't try to be, and that while some knowledge of the biases of the author is useful, it's not possible simply to use it filter out the bias in the historical text as you seem to be suggesting.
  9. Am not!!! Seriously, I don't agree with you, and I'd be happy to discuss this further, but not on this thread because it's too far off topic now and liable to imminent closure.
  10. I just spent the morning playing Facade. It's not exactly a game; it tries to be an interactive story, but I'm not sure how well it succeeds. It's fascinating, but desperately frustrating - the parser is very limited and it gives the feeling that there's a world of depth there that I can't quite get at because I don't know the right words. Still, it was an interesting experience.
  11. Well, I just finished King's Quest VII. What is it about game developers that they think, "We have a six-chapter game, we'll make the last chapter a quarter of the length of the others, but don't worry, people won't be disappointed."? Overall, it was quite fun. Not the best in the series, but interesting to control a character like Valanice - unique in gaming, I wonder? I don't feel the need to progress to KQVIII. I never heard a single positive comment about it.
  12. You don't need some silly computer programme to validate your life choices! If you want us to call you 'Groin of Despair', we will.
  13. I also got Death Dealer.
  14. On a not terribly related note, are there any plans for next-gen consoles to implement smell-o-vision? I did hear something about this once, but it might, just might, have been a joke.
  15. Obsidian are promising this for NWN2. I'd love to know what they're planning, but I just can't bear the Bioware forums.
  16. Which I've got, and I can't say I ever noticed it doing this.
  17. Sometimes they occupied the same space, in which case the projected image replaced that part of the Exile's image. They didn't bump into each other, though.
  18. I think it would be an interesting idea to set the story in the Sith Empire . However, I get the feeling the developers like to use familiar planets from earlier games or the movies in order to generate interest among potential purchasers. Still, it should be possible to end the game with a showdown on Coruscant or something like that. Kreia's final conversation was talking about the True Sith - who knows exactly what that means, but it seems to be something above and beyond the Sith Empire that Revan/Malak took control of. I think the regular Sith Empire would be a much more interesting place to explore than some 'True Sith' whatever beyond the Outer Rim.
  19. Did taking it the first time do any good? These tests are a bit of fun, and when I watched the TV programme related to the test, the 'experts' actually did a pretty good job of predicting people's behaviour by their personality type. There was one group of three people of the same type (I forget which), set the task of preparing a meal, and the experts predicted they would be so disorganised they would set off the smoke alarm. And they did.
  20. Nah, I've always got that, even before the patch. I assumed that it was a hologram being projected into the room, so naturally my character would also be visible.
  21. Benefit Fraud Inspectorate? Edit: Oops, too late. I was just suggesting that the style and content of your posts are very different. :">
  22. You can trigger it from the console in the same room. It's a camera recording - holographic or something, so your Jedi isn't actually part of the scene.
  23. Darth Launch and Hildegard are both innovators. I wouldn't have predicted that.
  24. Of course, that's the beauty of these things. :D They're vague enough to put Nostradamus to shame, and expert consultants make millions writing books about this stuff.
