  1. I consider KotOR as Legendary, or it's becoming one. In all gaming-forums that i visited, where they had a 'What is the best game ever?'-thread, KotOR is mentioned all the time along with PS:T, Half-Life, Deus Ex 1, Zelda, Doom, Fallout and Counterstrike. So i voted 'good', since i'm under the impression that it won't give the "WHOA!"-feeling again, i'm betting on "That's nice"-feeling instead
  2. Oh dear, now Halo comes to mind Seriously though, they can always make the game longer by having more complicated quests instead of fedex-like that you encounter now and then.
  3. From what i heard from the devs, there WILL be more side-quests in KotORII, making the possible game-length a bit longer.
  4. Yeah, but this is just an arbitrary arse characterization which doesn't have to turn into a canon to describe a society that has been in struggle with itself for 40.000 freaking galactic years, you'd think there would be SOME change in such a large span of time. Just because emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader are both pshycotic sociopaths doesn't mean every single sith in the entire hystory of a galaxy far far away from making ANY sense has to be modeled after them. I say destroy the old canons and give us a restructured characterization of the sith, we don't need an entire society of Anakins Skywalkers, for the love of god... It isn't arbritrary characterization. It is how their society works according to people that were given authorization by Lucasarts to create it. They could change but not suddenly. A reason would have to be created and a good one too. Personally I think only someone becoming the Sithari and rewriting their beliefs could do it. What's this Sithari-myth? I thought that it was something invented by Bioware.
  5. Uh Hello. KOTOR is a game set in the SW universe. That means it has the same rules that have been established in a million and one sources. Otherwise it isn't SW anymore. Again, i guess i'm not into SW enough to care about the lure of the darkside all the time. My judgement was strictly based on that when you're playing an RPG, there should be a time when you "suffer" from your choices you done in the past, this shouldn't be restricted to SW universe but to games in general. Ok then. But for us people that bought KOTOR because it is the first SW RPG you can see how we'd like the universe to work the way we have always seen it work? Anyways how is forcing an LS or DS character on the rooftop to remain true to their alignment suffering? Your character was Revan. I find it hard to believe being offered everything he had lost and vengeance against his would be killer as something not at all tempting to even the nicest Jedi. Perhaps it is enough to pull the old Revan back and wipe out all that Jedi Mind control business. Fair enough, with my ignorance to the rules of the SW universe, i think we'd better leave it here

  7. Then there's the problem. You're not accepting one of the most basic tenets of star wars. DS IS ALWAYS A DANGER TO ANY LS JEDI NO MATTER WHAT. Does YOda go around force choking people and using dark side force powers? I mean he is super LS Jedi so he must be immune to the dark side yes? NO. It is a quest just like every other quest in the game and you are given both options just like every other quest. Ok, we're getting way to serious with the Star Wars mythology here, from a game-mechanical reasons i disagree with having "the choice". Simple cause and consequense.
  8. Your analogy is comepletely fallacious. People are not objective like a test. I already said this before but Ill say it again. LS JEDI ARE ALWAYS IN DANGER OF THE DS. No matter how great and good your character is through the whole game he can still fall to the DS and this is reflected in KOTOR 1. You idea gives me roleplaying options through the game but then suddenly at the end I get no control of my character? No thank you. I see it more like the consequenses for your actions, if your characters is totally LS then he should act like what his character allows. Yes, the darkside is always present, but after acchiving LS Mastery, i found that it pretty far fetched.
  9. Maybe they could simply do us a favor and scrap the whole characterization of the sith in the first place ?!? Star Wars doesn't always have to suck you know... Seconded. Enough with the 'Sith being so evil it borders on stupidity' idea; the Sith can be bad guys without backstabbing each other so often they become a joke. You gave me a nice mental image there *A big hall and round table in middle of it there are 7 Sith *lords* sitting and discussing on how to deal with the republic* Sith #1: - "I suggest that we eradicate the republic once and for all, especially now since the republic is severly weakened after the war against Malak." Everone else: - AYE! Sith #2: - "But how do we deal with ourselves? We know that only one of us can inherit title 'Dark Lord of the Sith', wouldn't this stress our allegiance?" Everyone: *Some muttering* Sith #3: - "I know, let's fight BOTH the republic and ourselves the same time, proving that the sole survivor is the true Dark Lord mmmm'kay?" Everyone else: - "Brilliant idea, i second that!" Sith #4: - "Well then, i here by declare this meeting adjured" *Everyone leaves, thinking about their own little masterplan*
  10. I'm having a slight problem with the Sith lords story, and that's how *supposibly* those Sith lords collaborate with each other? How's that even possible? considering their self-destructing nature.
  11. Ok, first I should warn you: when people like me praise Torment, we aren't praising it's combat system or whatever, 'cause Gromnir is right about that; it isn't very good. In fact, it sucks; since you're immortal (long story, but suffice it to say when you get killed you come right back to life just a short distance away), you can essentially kill a Demigod with a rusty fork if you're patient enough. We're mostly praising it's storyline, it's characters, it's setting, etc. Meaning, if you want great graphics, flashy combat, etc., you'll be disappointed. If you want a great story with excellent writing and many great characters, you'll probably like it. But if you've played Baldur's Gate or Baldur's Gate II, it uses the same engine. That's how it looks. Torment is not for everyone, but if you don't mind a lot of reading in-game, give it a shot. I am by no means a gfx-whore so that shouldn't be a problem, but after i tried Diablo 1 back in the day, it felt very unconvincing. More or less like LOTR, minus the story. That's why i didn't try one single rpg before KotOR, since the immersion was next to none. Maybe if i find it for a low price somewhere i might it out. It was the story and the characters that got into KotOR afterall
  12. I never tried Planescape: Torment, but from what i've read here, it's seems to be the holy grail in terms of rpg. But how's the gameplay? Is it isometric like Diablo? What made it so great?
  13. Isn't it an already known fact that HK-47 will return?
  14. You know, "Trying is the first step to failure" and such
  15. I, for one, much prefer BG2 over BG1. So shoot me. As i said, i don't know about the BF and Fallout series, since i never tried them.
  16. I'm keeping an open mind about KotOR II, if it's going to suck, then it will. There's always good 'ole KotOR that you can play if it fails. Without going way deep into speculation like Gromnir, history shows that good sequels = rare. A few examples: - Unreal 1 > Unreal 2 - Deus Ex 1 > Deus Ex 2 - Unreal Tournament > Unreal Tournament 2003/2004 ...and so on... I dunno about the differences between the Baldurs gate and Fallout series, but the only sequel that i played that outshined its predecessor is System Shock II. No doubt that Obsidian are having a difficult task to accomplish.
  17. Also, as a small sidenote, the tune "Bastila Shan" is a collage made from the original tune called "The hologram & the Binary Sunset" from the movie Star Wars: A New Hope.
  18. The song that's played in the apartments and at the Temple Summit is called "Bastila Shan" and can be downloaded from http://soundtracks.mixnmojo.com Also, it was Jeremy Soule who did the soundtrack to KotOR 1, the devs say that KotOR II will have a new soundtrack, but they haven't decided yet on who's making it. //EDIT: Yes, i do like the soundtrack to KotOR I, i listen to tunes like "Dantooine outback", "Bastila Shan", "The Sith", "Ahto City" and "The Unknown world" now and then.
