  3. I require the option of High-school Rom-drama! Just think of the possibilities of the different classes: Jock, nerd, goth, rich kid, etc...
  4. The founder of The Escapist, Alexander Marcis, weighs in on Cultural Marxism back in september 2014: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sc1pi4 I do wonder if this has to do with who got canned later.
  5. Someone has been analyzing quite a lot on the bigger things surrounding GG: TL;DR: Constantly keep digging and exposing, otherwise we are all guilty of generating a generation of childish nihilists. Archived version: https://archive.today/TV9fT

  7. Are you under the impression I have any sympathy for the Chinese state? They too are an imperial power, who follow same market logic and too continue to slash their workers pitiful wages in the pursuit of cheaper labour and greater profit. Well much like NASA, Mr. Piketty and the latest Oxfam report state churning through our natural resources with a continued system of unsustainable resource exploitation and increasingly unequal wealth distribution is simply not sustainable and is only going to continue to create greater poverty and greater wealth divide. Nothing short of a complete societal restructuring that abolishes the pursuit of profit, the funneling of wealth and the recklessly self-destructive exploitation and unequal distribution of our natural resources will fix this continued wealth gap and eventual societal decay. Of course the cynic in me doesn’t expect such a thing to happen any time soon. Instead wealth inequality will exacerbate; wages will be cut via “austerity measures”, the far-right will gain greater societal influence; some scapegoat will be found to pin societal woes on (e.g. Muslims, Jews, what have you); the West will continue to recklessly gobble up eastern markets meanwhile the east (Russia) will fight tooth and nail to maintain economic hegemony over the former eastern bloc; Africa and the ME will continue to be a playground for the imperial powers; and I will continue mutter bitterly about the whole damn thing. Or at least that's my crystal gazing prediction. I happened to misread your point then, sorry. I have been struck by the same cynisism, however maybe not as much. I do believe in liberty and the self-realization of the ego that comes with, but i sadly i cannot see it implemented without a bloody revolution. Hopefully i am just too dumb to understand how that would be done peacefully.
  8. While technically true, as in cops should arrest people for crimes committed. However, has this woman no shame at all? Seriously, is she mentally retarded or intellectually stunted? Emotionally shocked? What kind of parent would publicy admit that their son is a robber, a criminal, and someone that should be treated better? What kind or relatives or community approves of this? In the normal world, people like her would be too embaressed to even exit the house. They would be shunned by the community and ostrasized until her son has shown repentance. Must often, they just have to move and start anew. But if she suffers from any of the symptoms mentioned above, it is at least understandable.
  9. Okay, which one of you guys decided to troll anti-GG with the hashtag #PizzaGate?
  10. The beneficiaries of centuries of slavery, genocide, colonialism and imperialism are able to placate their civilians with enough material incentive so they won't rebel. Who'd have thunk it. Why not? All these Western value nations both participated in, and still benefit from colonialism and on-going imperialism; as well as repeatedly invading foreign countries, toppling foreign regimes and installing puppet dictatorships. Going off history this all seems very "Western". Where you choose between rich representative who serves the interests of the rich A and rich representative who serves the interests of the rich B. The system that was built on slavery, genocide and mass exploitation; the system that continually funnels wealth into the hands of the few directly at the expense of the many; the system whose exploitation has been becoming more and more concentrated for decades; the system that has the richest country in the world have half its population living in poverty or near poverty; the system that in times of economic turmoil continues to attack the poor and serve the rich Bloomberg, "Top 1% Got 93% of Income Growth as Rich-Poor Gap Widened" Wall Street Journal, "The 1% Captures Most Growth From Recovery" Think Progress, "The Richest 1 Percent Captured 93 Percent Of Income Gains In 2010" Washington Post, "In 2010, 93 percent of income gains went to the top 1 percent" Business Insider, "New Study Shows How The 1% Got 93% Of The Income Gains During The Great Recovery" The system who’s top economic work of the year had today’s court charlatan astrologer desperately trying to reconcile the contradictions of capitalism and fearing even worse wealth inequality without severe (and completely unrealistic) worldwide intervention; the system whose own scientists (NASA) fear societal collapse due to the ever expanding wealth gap and the never ending pursuit of profit at the expense of our natural resources; the system that ****ing exists in Africa and has only served widen the wealth gap in the continent. That is owned by the rich, controlled by the rich and serves the interests of the rich. Haha. Even if I were to ignore literally every point I've already made this is simply not possible. The conditions that allowed "the West" to achieve its post-war prosperity were a result of very specific circumstances that we are unlikely to repeat and which have been waning for decades anyway. Please continue. What should be done? The Chinese are already having a fun time buying up the continent and they do not have the moral baggage of being children of slaverers, true or not. Humans will always compete for resources through different degrees of conflict in order to achieve power. Democratic institutions and the rule of law at least minimizes the chance of total regression to tribal and feudal states. What should Africa do? What should the citizens of the western world do?
  11. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! All things considered, i went to watch the Alternative Edition Redux (178min): http://www.fanedit.org/ifdb/412-dune-the-alternative-edition-redux Like a game developed by Troika on stereoids, this one was truly a flawed jem. It had the Sardaukar, the best and most feared elite soldiers in the known universe as radioactive garbagemen, it had Sting running in metal underwear, it had a villain called VLADIMIR HARKONNEN as a floating gasbag, flying around and chasing boys. It had Toto playing 80's guitar-solos as people were running around playing cowboys with sandworms and it had the end credits of a South American soap opera. BUT! It had incredible set pieces, it had a vision like no other. It was almost a dream-like experience of a heroic tale of righteous vendetta with the right kind of mystique that transcends it from a run-to-the-mill science fiction to a mythological tale. I can recommend this movie, or atleast this edition of it, to anyone. If anything, it will leave an impression one way or the other. I will now order the book, all while listening to this: THE SLEEPER HAS AWAKENED
  12. Since there is no apropriate answer for this kind of idiocy, i will just laugh. Hahahahahaha
  13. Food for thought, considering the arguments people throw around concerning GG:
  14. ...and according to /baphomet/, she has done nude modelling, and not the artistic kind if you know what i mean.
  15. Ouch, now GG is on Law and Order :SVU This will be about harassment and some kind of abuse because that series focuses on those types of crimes. You boys will become even more vilified after that I am not worried since Baroth said that he will rescue us by the time the pogroms starts.
  16. "Law and Order" will have an episode featuring GamerGate: https://archive.today/h0KOA Let me guess: this independent developer is faced by a horde of angry anonymous men that hate because....reasons. The episode ends with a hint that the campaign is led by a cabal of the worst kind: old, white men that do not want any uppity women in their ranks.
  17. Washington Post article: http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-intersect/wp/2015/01/29/gamergate-wikipedia-and-the-limits-of-human-knowledge/ This ride will never end. //edit: I found this image beautiful though:
  18. I was thinking of watching Dune, but i realized that there about 47 different versions of it. Theatrical cut, Extender Cut, Alternate Fan Edit Cut and so on. Recommendations? (no, not the book. This is a movie-thread)
  19. https://twitter.com/megaspacepanda/status/560595840528433152 /crosses fingers that it is about the funneling of entry money in IndieCade. This might be huge. //edit:
  20. Was it about an argument about ethics in journalism? Was the perpetrator rightously triggered by feeling harrassed?
  21. It's we who are not understanding them. Disclosing personal relationships and possible collusions is a breach of privacy and discussing them publicly is harrasment. 'Ethical standards' is just a smokescreen for racist, conservative and reactionary inclusion by right-wing old men that has forgotten that the progressive world left them long ago. ...or something like that.
  22. She only played video-games as a little kid to seek attention and justification from her elder brothers, which she never got, not because she actually liked it. Now she is projecting all those feelings of neglect and failure on all men and making money off it. My 2 cents.
  23. Actually, i think that they will make more money by simply re-releasing the original movie on the big screen again in HD.
  24. I don't see anything in the plot of Ghostbusters that said the four people had to be guys. What inherently about being thrown out of academia and creating a blue collar business in the private sector implies you're a man? I don't get it. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Because they were four guys and the dynamics between them played to the male archetype of whimsical university professors and blue collar workers? But if you do not have a problem with that being changed, then we will just leave it there. Btw, about Eraserhead. I think that the nightmarish imagery were supposed to to hit the viewer on subjective level, as in it plays on the same fears that most guys have to marriage and companionship. Maybe i simply do not share the same fears or have them manifested on that level *shrugs*
  25. I'd argue that SEX AND THE CITY only works conceptially with a specific gender because its so specific to the relationships of women. Ghostbusters doesn't strike me as an inherently gendered concept, I don't see how you couldn't make those relationships the same with different gendered characters. YMMV. Regarding Aliens, since the Sigourny Weaver part was written as male originally, I wouldn't have a problem with casting a guy as Ripley (or another woman). Similarly I wouldn't have problem if you changed Dallas to a woman or Lambert as a man. I don't think that any of the parts are gender specific (although I do think casting Kane as a woman would bring a lot of additional/different baggage to the storyline). One of the main themes of Ghostbusters was about four guys in academia that tried to work as blue collar workers in the private sector. It simply does not make sense with four women. I do have problem with Ripley being a man, because Ripley was a woman.
