  1. Recently, I was asked about Wasteland, and the answer became complicated enough that I decided to respond to here. In short, I

  2. I have serious doubts about this venture. Double Fine's success is due to the fact that there haven't been many adventure games since the 90s and the people behind it (Tim and Ron) were responsible for the best adventure games out there. They are respected and admired by the adventure games community. As for Wasteland, I believe the target audience is quite smaller. Furthermore, I don't exactly see Fargo as having a fanbase/community or having an history of having designed good games, apart from Wasteland. I'll be surprised if he gets 50K$. I guess it will depend a lot on what he can commit that he'll do. Even better, if he can show already some work done. But maybe I'm wrong on this. We'll see. As for Obsidian, having the people behind FO 1 & 2, ID, PS:T, having developed KotoR II and New Vegas, and also having a community... it's a whole different story. I'm confident Obsidian would raise 1 M$ at minimum. And this raises the question: when will Obsidian start their kickstarter project?

  4. I think we all need some more Planescape in our lives.

  5. Yeah the "social event" part can't be ignored, a project would need ring-leading with regular updates and info, that's why the Double Fine kickstart is so attractive, you get a game and you get to be part of something.

  6. DEFINITELY a spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment. Something darker, grittier, with equal or more dialogue.

  7. I believe most of what I would wish from potential Kickstart funded game made by you has already been said among all these posts, but since this is a vote of sorts I'll add my opinion among the others to weigh it just slightly bit more towards what I'd like. While getting a sequel, or a prequel for that matter, to any RPG made by Black Isle Studios or Troika Games would be fantastic, I'm still not going to ask for your hands to be tied by the earlier history of some people on your team. Yet getting something in the spirit of those games is what I would wish to see, since good role-playing games are a rare breed nowadays. Having you to use your budget for licensing something is not something I'd want you to have to do, unless you can get a real bargain with no strings attached and you think it's worth it, so I'm completely fine with original IP of your own. Having all the dialogue in the game voice acted? Well, while I have nothing against good voice acting it's again a money sink and I'd rather have three times as much equally good dialogue in written form. Of course having key characters in the game voice acted adds to their depth and feeling of importance and if it is doable at reasonable cost then why not. Apart from the aforementioned points I have no further wishes for the potential project. I know from experience that you can make really captivating games with interesting story, memorable characters and great dialogue and all this despite someone breathing down your neck, so no matter what direction you decide to take this project I will be backing it in anycase just to give you a chance to work freely for a change. Thank you, and best of luck with all the demands us fans make!

  9. A Planescape sequel, in the Planescape setting, in isometric, real-time pausable, using a non-broken ruleset. Please!

  10. I'd fund you my kidney for a Planescape Torment 2 or a remake!
