De_jesus Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 Hi all, First time poster on a new account, but have been a lurker for builds and what not. Just started playing Pillars of Eternity again after a long hiatus, and I'm having trouble with domination on targets. It appears to land on targets, but doesn't stick at all. Below is a video of what I'm referring to, but I do not know what, if anything, I'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Here is a video of what I'm referring to: https://streamable.com/ooaei 2
MaxQuest Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 (edited) That's a bug. Looks like it was introduced in 3.03 or earlier. For some reason ogre thinks he has no target and this ends the domination effect. Check for more info here. P.S. Now that you have mentioned it, I've reminded I had a similar problem with Alpine Dragon's Greater Ice Blights (v3.05). Charm effect was applied but didn't last for full duration. Ended up using scrolls of confusion instead. And funnily there is a hardcoded check for that (!aIController.IsConfused)... draego Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 (edited) This is not exactly the same but i've seen dominated or charmed enemies walk back to their starting position at the moment they get charmed or dominated. They ignore targets that are near them to do this. And when they return to their starting position they turn hostile again. It seems to happen if i charm or dominate a back line enemy but its really annoying. I have never loved charmed effects their awesome but... they were always aggravating because when a charmed enemy is left standing alone they quickly loose the charmed affect which is dumb because other effects linger on yourself even after the fight is over. I'm landing hit and crit domination with Grieving Mother and the effect lasts a fraction of a second. It is beyond frustrating right now.
scythesong Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 (edited) I tested this a bit and it seems your party's visual range is a factor (if your dominated target can't see hostiles within YOUR visual range/outside fog of war, the effect ends). Edited April 28, 2017 by scythesong
De_jesus Posted April 29, 2017 Author Posted April 29, 2017 I tested this a bit and it seems your party's visual range is a factor (if your dominated target can't see hostiles within YOUR visual range/outside fog of war, the effect ends). I actually thought that was the case, but then I thought "That's crazy... why would it work that way." I typically uber-buff my barbarian and send him off to increase my range, so I guess I'll do that before casting Domination on certain targets.
scythesong Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 I have no idea. I'm just posting the results of own testing.
MaxQuest Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 @De_jesus, if this happens really consistently, could you attach your save?
