Bryy
U5.0's main improvements are in animation rigging, ligting, and textures. It is also next gen ready, meaning all the new consoles.
Weirdstudies
So less of a drop-in upgrade and more of an improved toolset?
mrmonocle
we should probably expect a convertion in PoE 2 or the expantion. I see the dreams so marvelously sad The creeks of land so solid and encrusted Where wave and tide against the shore is busted While chanting by the moonlit twilight's bed trees (of Twin Elms) could use more of Magran's touch © Durance
Luckmann
Yeah, I think BAdler (not sure who it was, I just think it was) said something about wanting to do it but it really depends on how smooth it would be, they just don't know for sure. It could be fast with no bugs, and it could mean re-doing a ton of stuff. They'll probably look at it, and if possible, I would personally expect it for an expansion or really major patch. I would be surprised if it (or an even higher version of Unity, really) wouldn't be used for any potential sequel.
POLE7645
Considering inXile are doing a big upgrade to Unity 5 with their upcoming Game of the Year edition, I guess we can expect that. But it'll take a few months at least. And by the way, those who already got Wasteland 2 will get that upgrade via a patch (kinda like The Witcher Enhanced Edition). But considering how engine switched have been a problem in some development (*cough* Daikatana *cough*), I won't blame them letting inXile "test the waters" for such an upgrade. As far as I've heard, there's a lot of pros for migrating to Unity 5 (better modding since the tools for the pro version are available to all, better shading and overall better performance), but the call is at Obsidian. I really do hope that they will migrate eventually.
Abtacha
Considering inXile are doing a big upgrade to Unity 5 with their upcoming Game of the Year edition, I guess we can expect that. But it'll take a few months at least. But inXile are also porting Wasteland 2 to consoles. I'm not sure they would bother with upgrading to Unity 5 otherwise. Might be something Obsidian could consider for the expansion. Edited March 27, 2015 by Abtacha
