I cant believe we havent come up with a truth serum yet. :(

You liar.

If we did, there would be no reason to slap mooks around.

Yeah but then someone would spike the water supply with it and society would crumble

Why has elegance found so little following? Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra

I wish people wouldn't use the word " torture " ..it conjures up images of dark rooms lit  by smoky lamps, hot coals and iron maidens

Advanced interrogation techniques is much more palatable   8)

But it is about as unpleasant and unnecessary though.

But will happen, people get lazy and well..sometimes it is tempting to cause someone pain.

I agree but we have to understand it is designed to gain information, I doubt any interrogation is pleasant

Yeah but crap like waterboarding goes beyond what should be acceptable. Besides the information gained from that line of activity isn't that reliable.

Thats also true, how much useful information is actually gained ?

Elerond I want to ask you something

I was reading this link about winter weather in Finland and how there are days of darkness?

What do you do when its dark? Is it 24/7 and does this apply to Helsinki ?

Helsinki is so south that there is about one day in year when sun don't rise at all

EDIT: And with rise at all I mean that sun don't rise above the horizon so you can't see it, but it isn't absolute darkness all day long, but that day time is actually twilight

Winter day isn't the darkest day, but it gives some inclination about darkness of our winter days and lightness of summer days in southern Finland.

And what do we do when it is dark: Go work, sit home, watch tv, play games, go bar, shop and etc. thing that don't necessary need sun light.

As a kid, the summers a whole felt like a long wonderful day since you were asleep while it was darker.

Topical: send terrorist to do hard manual labour in the Lapland mines during the winters. That would be a punishment worse than waterboarding.

For me who lives in a very sunny country it sounds a little harsh but I suppose you get use to it ?

 There isn't a nation powerful enough, or motivated enough, to take the US down and little pissant terrorist organizations already have the hurt in the butt. So who's going to teach us this lesson?

Great empires aren't overcome by external enemies, they crumble under the weight of their own internal problems.

An enormous national debt, secret FISA courts, the erosion of civil liberties, mass surveillance, the patriot act, increasing use of drones in the US, intensive militarization of the police, Citizens United legalizing political corruption, Wall Street bigwigs going to work for the government, financial deregulation, wiping out the middle class, benching the congress and the people while stealing 700B, waging war without congressional approval, extensive use of torture, a privately owned federal reserve bank with secret owners printing money out of thin air, an illegal federal income tax, 11,000 firearm homicides each year because anyone can buy a gun, freedom of expression and independent media under growing pressure, big media dumbing down the population, TV-show cartoon billionaires running for president..
.. the list goes on and on..

And the best thing! - WE NEED YOU!

oh the irony..

Cheers,

There isn't anything in the list that is particularly concerning or can't be fixed?
