Monte Carlo Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Hey, Jayce, my George Forman grill is full of burgers. How can I keep my old ones while I'm grilling new ones. Do you know George Foreman? Can I get his telephone number from you?

Hurlshort Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 This might be a good spot to post my issue with an Ipad. My wife broke hers the other day, dropped it and it hit a corner, shattering the screen pretty well. It is only a few months old, but it was issued to her by her school. So we have to replace it, but I'm scratching my head over the options. First, her district apparently didn't bother to get decent insurance on these. So where most districts charge $50-100 to replace stuff like this, they want to charge my wife $400. The Apple store has offered to replace it at $250. It is their standard half price for anything that needs to be replaced. There are some places that offer to repair them, I believe it costs about $100 or so to do that. I haven't taken it in to see if it qualifies, the case itself is slightly dinged. Now my biggest concern is we don't actually own this device. I hate to drop a huge amount on this when it still belongs to the school district. Apparently my wife signed some contract back in the day that makes her responsible for it though. So what do you guys think? Do I have any other options? She won't let me just duct tape the stupid thing.
Gorgon Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 A loaner Ipad, sounds like more trouble than it's worth. You pay double if it's an apple, apparenlty that goes for the repairs as well. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
Malcador Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 (edited) Heh, serves you right for buying Apple Still, pretty insane repair costs. Hurlshort Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Heh, serves you right for buying Apple Did you read what I wrote? There was no purchase of an Apple product.
Malcador Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Ahh right. Well, just go with the cheapest place then, and tell your wife to not be klutzy with it Why has elegance found so little following? Gorth Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Did she drop it at home? Wouldn't a normal home/property insurance cover that kind of damage? “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. Gorgon Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Premiums go up with every claim. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
Hurlshort Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Did she drop it at home? Wouldn't a normal home/property insurance cover that kind of damage? Interesting idea, but as Gorgon mentioned the deductible and the premium increase are probably worse than anything. Plus I doubt it covers these types of electronics. The rough part is if I had decided to buy this, I would have purchased the insurance that covers these types of accidents, because between my wife and my two little ones things break regularly.
Nepenthe Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 One good thing about living in the "socialist utopia" is that you're not personally liable for your employer's stuff unless you're actually negligent in its handlings. Ergo, they can't offload their lack of proper coverage to you. 1 You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions

Sue the school for damages and stress and loss of income from fretting over the schools obviously unsuitable gadgets that it offloads to employees without proper care instructions. 1 “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. Gfted1 Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Wouldnt dropping it count as neglience? I have an iPad2 that the dog knocked off the end table but luckily it fell perfectly flat on its back and was completely undamaged. @Hurlshot: Provided they arent using aftermarket parts I would just take it to the cheapest place. "I'm your biggest fan, Ill follow you until you love me, Papa"
Hurlshort Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Well, I've thought on this a bit. If my wife just holds on to the broken thing for a few years, the district cost to replace it drops considerably. The chances of them asking for it back are small given the fact she has no plans to change schools. I'm just having a hard time convincing her this is a good plan. Given that she did use it quite often, I've offered to buy her a new one. That way it belongs to her alone, and I will feel better about shelling out cash if it breaks. Plus I can get whatever type of insurance I choose. She's resisting this plan for now, but I will see if I can wear her down.
Yocihope Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 First of all pls make sure that ur iTunes is set to manually manage music. Then do it as the following dteps: 1.Connect iPod to computer, go to my computer n double click iPod drive, choose "tools" -->
Nepenthe Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Wouldnt dropping it count as neglience? I dunno, I think even the bonus pater familias would drop his ipad every now and then. More seriously though, I probably should've gone with "reckless" for the proper flavour. You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions
