The "Humanitarian mission" in Lybia

That was my point. And the war's objective is to get rid of him, not leave it a happy place for Libyans, etc. so it'd be a success that way

"Lol, that's what you call reputable? "

nope. we said that you, and anybody else, can find reputable sources using those keywords. am gonna leave up to you to maintain your ignorance... or not. is actual kinda telling as your reaction is kinda the norm 'ccording to historians such as bruce pauley and gerhad botz-- austrian willful ignorance o' antisemitism is typical. is not historians writing 'bout austria circa 1940, but rather austria from pre ww 1 to 2000+.

"So you had some bad experiences in Europe, I see. Ohh, what country(s)?"

we had good experiences in europe. however, as a minority we found the bigotry in europe no better than the US.

HA! Good Fun!

ps am gonna concede that prof. pauley were given some kinda award by austria in spite o' his harsh portrayal o' antisemitism in austria.... and we has only read excerpts from the books by botz, pelinka and safrian.

Yes, yes - both Austria and America are great! We aren't discussing the A countries we are discussing the L ones, like Libya.

morgoth's origin posts in this thread do not support your observation.

btw, webster tarpley, the guy being interviewed in the first post, is a very bright man... who has spent the last decade trying to convince folks that 9/11 were actual perpetrated by a rogue intelligence group supported by the military industrial complex... and he thinks global warming is a hoax too. sooooooooooooo.

Yes, soon Webster will be brandmarked a traitor and terrorist and deported by Homeland Security into some dark place for telling the truth where he will comply to the God Emperor Obama while being suffocated my downing water on his face.

Just because somebody sounds bonkers doesn't mean he is bonkers.

actually, morgoth sounds more "bonkers" than tarpley. you ain't helping your case with the little mini-rants.

*shrug*

even so, am thinking it is relevant to be mentioning tarpley's fringe views, no? you believe tarpley simply 'cause he says what you want to hear, but we suspect others here is a bit more discerning. oh, and US free speech protections is far more meaningful than in pretty much any country in europe, so perhaps you is confused 'bout what "God Emperor Obama" can do 'bout Americans who has opinions that seem "bonkers."

Oww... you missed out on the greatest of the 'A's, Australia!

Just kidding, those who knows me knows my contempt for nationalism/patriotism as an archaic, mind limiting concept that should have been wiped out post 1918.

Zoraptor sort of got the right of it in a previous post, the fight is not for a 'free Libya', but for a different leadership representing other factions. Catch phrases and standard accusations presented on a need basis to sell the idea to the outside world, where a couple of politicians finally get to play warlords too for the benefit of their own political careers.

So is it the tall-poppy syndrome and rampant self-deprecation that attracted you to Australia or what? :)

The sun and beaches looked good in the brochures

They forgot to mention the UV index and box jellyfish of course, but that's marketing for you.

Just out of interest, do you even believe in the concept of nation-states? If not, then what do you suggest instead as a social contract between the individual, groups and the state?

Speaking of nationalism, and just for the record, I'm a huge advocator of the EU.

It's the only way to move on as a civilization and the only way to avoid the same mistakes especially Europeans tend to repeat, like the gruesome wars in the 19th and 20th century.

Once we're all united, we can all sit together and talk about Star Trek.

No, I don't believe in the concept of nation states. What began in 1648 should have died in 1918. Unfortunately, it didn't.

As for alternatives, well, plenty to chose from. I'm sure Lord of Flies could give a treatise in one of them :shifty:

For myself, I know what I wish for only would come about as a result of a cataclysmic event, so I don't get my hopes up. A meritocratic society based on a significantly smaller human population, delegating menial/hazardous tasks to automatons and robots.

Not bloody likely to ever happen. Unlike some idealists, my head is still attached to my shoulders :)

So a requirement for your ideal society is a reduced human population, (yer a bloody monster mate :o ) Aside from the fact that culling the herd its no guarantee that what remains is the smartest and strongest, you have to deal with a homogeneous population.

So your version of the future its like The Jetsons meet The Beverly Hillbillies. Disturbing stuff :shifty:

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

A 1 child policy for a few generations would do the trick - our kids would be much better off. But of course that's against basic human rights, so that ain't gonna happen.

Fortune favors the bald.
