Doom972 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 After buying KOTOR 2 and NWN 2 I realized it's probably a good idea to wait for them to work out the kinks. Just how buggy is this game right now? Will it run well on my system? Specs: AMD Athlon 64 3800+ (2.4 Ghz) 4 GB RAM GeForce 8800 GT Running WinXP
Nightingale Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 You shouldn't have any issues running it on that system (if you can run Mass Effect 2, or other Unreal 3 games, you should be able to run AP).
Doom972 Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 It's good to know I can run it. I think I'll wait some more before buying. After reading some posts here I think I'll wait for the patch.
Scorch Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 (edited) It's far less buggy than KOTOR2 and NWN2. Edited September 14, 2010 by Scorch
Doom972 Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 Less buggy than they are right now? (They fixed the game breaking issues in NWN2, KOTOR 2 has a community patch) Still, I don't think I'm willing to pay full price for it before a patch.
kirottu Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I played it through twice and it didn This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time.
Purkake Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 That doesn't mean there aren't any bugs. Did you miss the no enemies on level reload or the horrendous 3 second texture pop-in lag?
kirottu Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Did you miss the no enemies on level reload or the horrendous 3 second texture pop-in lag? Yes. Texture pop-in was no worse than it was in Mass Effect. Only bug I had was the mouse one. This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time.
Deadly_Nightshade Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 ...the horrendous 3 second texture pop-in lag? That's a U3 bug and not an AP bug. "Geez. It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum." -Hurlshot
Purkake Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 (edited) It was way worse in AP than any other UE3 game that I've played. Especially on the PC. Edited September 14, 2010 by Purkake
Scorch Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Texture pop was non-existant on my PC except for the inventory. Only major bug I came across in 3 playthroughs was the reload one, but that's easily solvable by not clicking 'load last save'.
GhostofAnakin Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Buy it now so you add to Alpha Protocol's sales, then play it later when there's a patch out. "Console exclusive is such a harsh word." - Darque"Console exclusive is two words Darque." - Nartwak (in response to Darque's observation)
Doom972 Posted September 15, 2010 Author Posted September 15, 2010 Seeing as they just released a patch which ****s it even more, I think obsidian should learn a lesson. I really like the people behind this company (the Ex-Black Isle guys to be precise), but I won't be a fanboy and get another buggy game. Hope they do better with FNV.
Rostere Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 I've played it on the PC and I've not encountered any bugs. "Well, overkill is my middle name. And my last name. And all of my other names as well!"
C2B Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 (edited) Damaging bugs I've encountered on my playthrough were UE3 bugs (which weren't really worse than other UE3 games) and the enemy respawning. In comparison to KOTOR and NWN where I encountered gamebreaking bugs multiple times... AP is tons better on the buggy side. Edited September 15, 2010 by C2B
Toofy Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Buy it, and tell other people to buy it. Fresh concepts from good developers need to be rewarded, not destroyed by critics that are biased towards the high budget-mediocre game.
Purkake Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 The time of concepts is over, these days you need execution as well.
