A few gameplay bugs

Question

Most seem to post technical issues (savegame, crashing, mouse accelerator etc.) or graphical, don't really see many threads for gameplay issues.

So here are the issues I noticed during my first game. They are a surprising few, considering the complexity of the game and the promised flood of bugs by reviewers.

Although, yeah, a little higher framerate would be nice (but my PC is old, so I really should update anyway).

 

On to the issues:

Saudi-Arabia:

* When talking to Mina for her mission (the airport) at the end there are only 2 options left. Dossier, and leave the convo. Dossier = End of convo when I select it though...

 

Moskau:

* SIE wonders why I left so many G22 alive during the Surkov mission... despite killing all of them...

 

Taipei:

* Retrieve NSB mission; The intel result for reduced guards and a weapon shipment are swapped around (atleast in

the description before starting the mission... no idea wheter that's actually also during the mission).

* I loose Mina rep when Hack starts shooting NSB agents (apparently killing them by using gadgets, or so the mission

finale log says, I didn't use gadgets myself during the mission).

* Okay, I suck at stealth, but to give me a -75XP penalty for that. Only time ever in a mission I got a XP-penalty, which makes me believe it's a bug...

* Occassionally a third option appears below organisations and individuals in the intel screen. On pretty much all missions that leads to organisations, however in Tapei it gave me above screen. Curious, seeing how that pic isn't even used in the game (probably early development placeholder).

 

Rome:

* Identify Jibril Intel: Purchasing additional intel on the man has the wrong icon in the shop.

* Do dropped goods vanish? During the "escape the villa" mission at the end I sniped the guards and they dropped stuff, but once I got there they were all gone...

Game 2. Here's some more!

Nitpickery ahoy too...

 

Saudi Arabia:

* Shock pads armor upgrade at the airfield (with the elite guards) lack overhead icon. Actually, this seems to happen in more places (load savegame issue?)

 

Rome:

* Post-Gelato shop mission overview mentions getting suspicious after the code wasn't working, but I never tried saying it at all, I just shot the guy first chance I had.

* I finally get a map after all, for the Marburg mission, and what do I get. Just a single blue dot on the map. That's... not very helpful.

* Snap shot. Ammo info shows 19% discount instead of 20% (but 20 is given since a round number is asked for ammo)

 

Taipai:

* Intercept Data mission: After disabling the station's camera's, the icon still floats above the panel, but you cannot interact with it anymore.

* Same mission; I killed all cops I could find, but the news report mention 'no civilian victims'.

* You can shoot Omen Deng and make him run before his first speech, cheating you out of 500XP though.

* It seems only if you fast forward the first section of the Omen final battle the speech of Sang gets subtitled.

* Enemies/friendlies are completely oblivious to turrets.

 

Moskau:

* Albatross hates me for killing Sis, but why did I leave the VCI at the embassy alive? As with earlier mention of the embassy, I didn't though.

* Newsreport for the embassy assault subtitles are way off...

* Sis killed news report: "Police are attempting to locater the". R too many.

* I crack a safe early on in Brayko's house and... nothing? What? (the one behind the locked door, not the guarded one, that one had $5K)

* The casinotrap isn't much of a trap; I killed everyone before entering it (previous game too, now I just know it for certain to report).

* Post-report: "zipline and get inside the perimeter." should probably read got.

* In the Halbech memo about their financial success Mina send me some spaces where missing between the text, signature and the "internal mail" section. I dont think "Special ProjectsHalbech International" isn't supposed to be attached to each other like that...

Nice, didnt think much of bugs like that except for a few.

 

Enemies/friendlies are completely oblivious to turrets... this one is really annoying even though it makes it easier to get my enemies killed. Would be more fun if they actually shot back.

 

Oh and the fact that despite not killing any marines, the report says that I did and so does the news report and the conversation with leland later in the game.

I don't think this is an error, Mina wouldn't appreciate this. You can actually prevent Heck from killing anyone if you act very very quickly in the hotel. I used silent running and shadow operative to take down the guards within ~5 seconds of getting off the elevator, before Heck could deliver any killing blows.

 

But yes, given all the permutations the game can take it's not surprising there are a few reactivity bugs. None of them seem to be major so far, though. ;)

No, Hack just plainly killing foes doesn't seem to affect Mina (so I noticed my second playthrough).

 

I think it's an issue with "gadget" damage (grenades) being always applied to the player, instead of who really threw such projectiles. Hence how some people can get 'kills' in the embassy amongst the marines/guards while others don't...

Yeah, thnx. It's still a bug though, should have been a green flag "Point of interest", not a blue dot "Stealth path"...

 

Anyways... Game 3. Running out of stuff to report though.

 

General:

* Apparently Marburg can clip away ALL your endurance (190 points, on easy. A minigun takes 5 shots!) with a single melee attack and then some health too. I get the impression Brayko can too, and this is the reason their melee attacks are far more potent than they should be. Fix it (if I am correct and it's not just some weird Marburg ability), and less people should complain about Brayko, since he wont hammer on your health quite so fast anymore!

* I was lockpicking a door, when a camera spotted me, and that activated binary invisibilty (basic) and that automatically unlocked the door even if I didn't had a single loper fixed?

* Hmmm... Spy luck activates when bashing open a lock. Might be not the intention? Easy way to skip some minigames, even if it does cost you 25XP.

 

Rome:

* Warehouse: Icon doesn't get removed from the body after ID, and the cops "never spotted you" even if you beat the crap out of all of them, like I did...

 

Endgame:

* I get Shaheed's meeting email... only after meeting him...

* Hmmm, Westridge complains to you if you join Halbech. But he also comments on you leaving Mina even if you are against Halbech (just before joining up with your contact)? Bug or intended behavior?

* "I am downloading the files now, I need you to draw their fire", "Keep them off me, I need to concentrate". Aren't those supposed to be lines used only when Parker is turned (he's helping you)? I don't think they make much sense when fighting him now do they?

From Marburg dossier:

 

Marburg is getting along in years, but he still trains in martial arts almost every morning after his ten mile run - opponents who think that getting in close is enough to take him down will be in for a shock. Marburg is exceptionally skilled in hand-to-hand combat, so unless an attacker is confident in their hand to hand skills, a firefight with Marburg has a chance of turning out better than a brawl will. The only time he is unlikely to outmaneuver or block an opponent is when he is reloading his pistol - any other time will have him ready and on his guard to take down opponents.

Still, that doesn't explain his (and others?) ability to bash away all your armor in a single slash, leaving you more vulnerable to other attacks (henchman fire) too...

Game 4. Here's the report of the additional findings...

 

Graybox/Saudi Arabia:

* Mina claims I made a crit during the Darcy takedown when I didn't (just random shooting).

* After returning from Alan's mission the doors to Mina and Darcy have enter icons again, even if I cannot enter them.

* The re-load causes sidegoals to dissapear bug is usually not that bad, since you can still finish your objectives. But not with the Nasri weapon shipment apparently.

* You can still sell stuff to Nasri, even when he's incarcerated, and you cannot buy from him no longer.

 

Moscow:

* "I don't hit little girls" perk... -5% from all G22 transactions? Only it doesn't work when the seller is G22, just Albatross (which are a lot less items in the clearinghouse).

* This time when I open the safe in Brayko's that way empty before, I got Sergei Surkov's dossier. Hmmm...

* Like Marburg, Brayko takes 100% of your endurance AND the regular damage per melee strike. Which is why his knifes are that more deadly than his rifles. I still don't think this is quite the way boss melee attack *should* work (oddly enough Omen Deng doesn't do that. Of course, he's a lot easier to defeat...).

* If you shoot Brayko as he jumps off the stage, he gets stuck when landing. Allows you to freely pummel him to 25% health (or go ammo hunting or whatever).

* Championik gets stuck on the stairs down. Maybe he should be able to go lower, really easy to kill him like that, with him not even getting in a hit...

* I get a secret Surkov dossier when talking to him post-Brayko. However, I get another when talking to him again at the heli. However, there is only 1 secret fact in the intel screen. Intended?

 

Taipei:

* If during the NSB mission you let the alarm run very fast (like, still in the elevator) Scarlet's line gets skipped. Or maybe it's after a load game. Not sure. ("Damn... funny you should mention that...")

* Head not clear; got killed many times at the first room of the NSB mission. However this time when I went down Heck never spawned, and all the cops remained friendly throughout the entire mission! :shifty: Cakewalk... :D.

* If you do the Triad mission after the NSB mission, you wont get dossier data on Omen Deng as Hong Shi warns you. Meaning you cannot get 100%. I doubt this is intended.

 

Rome:

* During the Marburg talk the 2 guards are CIA, but once the convo is done they are Deus Vult. I think the convo-CIA ones use the wrong skin...

 

Endgame/General:

* If you load the auto-save from just starting the endgame you start with the endurance of your armor (which you don't have on). Once you pick it up, your max. endurance stays that, until you open the inventory/service record etc. Then it becomes the actual value it should be (perk additions and such).

* Albatross tell me he will hack the turrets during the Parker battle, but no such thing happens. Also he repeats his first line about the bomb...

* Small typo: Basic Iron will will add "and a temporary Health". Advanced and Master level don't have this typo in their description.

* Getting a perk instantly recovers all your endurance (easily noticable when fighting Deng, I had 0, then all my 165 the moment the speech was done)

 

???:

* Post Taipei the debrief VO with Leland got serious issues. I might count once to a fluke error, but now it did it again, making me think there's more to it. Anyone else have issues there with slight freezes for a few seconds, lines getting 'stuck' etc.?

Might have something to do with BIK videos playing in the background? My PC never liked those, and with AP too I constantly have issues with them in the intro, credits and news reports...
