How many of you are die hard collectors who still has everything that came with your game including the cardboard box and the little things that come with the collectors editions?

Here's a few of mine.

Being a collector of a lot of things like games, I wouldn't buy and download a game. I like to have something physical plus it could be worth money in years to come.

And I care about the game and not the packaging. It mostly comes down to convenience.

Nothing against collecting, though.

Guess I'm not very materialistic, that's why a download version of a game is absolutely fine by me.

I own two collectors edition and that's because one was the same price as the standard and the other was clearence price. Not big on CE, as for dl, it depends on value, but I do prefer to have a physical copy of a game I really want.

I don't save much. Only classics that I really love. And I toss the boxes regardless since they take up too much space. But if I can find some batteries for my camera I'll post a couple.

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.

So, you've got the game, but have you got the shirt?

Id rather have a physical copy of a book then something on scribd. Its a similar subject. Am I materialistic?

Probably, we all are.

The difference is that the book is usable as it is. With a disc you have to put it into a computer to use. With newer DRM you also have to check with the cloud(server) before using it. The disc contains the same digital info that you download from Steam for example, but it's useless without a computer.

I do miss the old days when manuals were as thick as tree trunks and required the entire tree to make it. It was great reading all the backstory while waiting for installation progress bar to finish up hours later. Good times. :)

Not to mention the old game boxes. I once saw a box that was so damn big that you could move in it :woot:

I think it was some Ultima box.

Yes having the actual game manual is handy! I dislike ha ing to my my game and exit it then search in the directory for the pdf manual. Also i like relaxing on the john while reading the manuals lol Got to read something! The STEAM version of GTA4 is lacking in that the nice maps and manuals are all just pdf's. Its lame. But if i got a cheaper price for it then it was worth it. It really comes down to money and convienence for me. Steam is convenient.

The only collector's edition I have is from Myst III: Exile, but maybe I'll get the one from Dragon Age provided the game is epic enough.

The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

The only two I can remember having is NWN2 (with map, metal rings etc.) and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SoC which also came with maps, extras discs and packed in a metal lunch box.

I used to have quite a few, including Ultima IV (with a cloth map of Britannia and a little Ankh) for my C64 and Amiga though. I wonder where they went... :)

Edit: I got the Icewind Dale ultimate compilation, but the "extras" are not on print, rather it's the sound track on a music cd and strategy guides in pdf format

To the OP: god I hate you :brows:

I could never get my hands on any of the boxed editions of Baldurs Gate, so Im stuck with the Forgotten realms deluxe pack :)

Tried eBay?

They show up on occasion but most of the time are horribly overpriced. Eg: Planescape Torment cant be found under 70-80$

I have System Shock 1 CD version, System Shock 2, and Alpha Centauri boxed with all the goodies still inside. Also, I have the CE of the Witcher, and two copies of Storm of Zehir, signed and unsigned.

These are the highlights. No camera, though.

By the way, even if you only buy digital versions of your games, you are still materialistic.

I've got a couple items, but I need to find a working camera before I can share them. >_<
