Jaesun
I'm curious what the setting will be. So far they have: Fantasy (WoW) Gothic..... Fantasy? (Diablo) Sci-Fi (Starcraft) so... Gothic Sci-Fi? hehe Actually if it IS Sci-Fi I might be a teeny tiny bit interested. Magister Lajciak
I doubt the MMO will use WoW engine - the article seems to indirectly indicate that the only reason WoW engine is currently being used for testing purposes is because the dedicated engine is not ready yet. The engine not being ready yet even for preliminary testing also hints that the MMO is very, very far away from being released. It is true that there have also been rumors of a fifth project at Blizzard. Perhaps it is Warcraft 4 - that would at least show that a successful MMO within a franchise does not necessarily mean the end of that franchise for all other games. Morgoth
Warcraft 3 looked goofy to me. No, Warcraft 3 looked silly and toony. Warcraft 2 really has a sexy graphics style that I wish it could be reproduced in WC4, with modern tech. Rain makes everything better.

On the other hand, W2 has bare orge butt. Something we all need more of. "When is this out. I can't wait to play it so I can talk at length about how bad it is." - Gorgon. Purkake
Someone should really make an MMO set in the 1920/30 with all the mafia and detective noir stuff. Get some great music and slap a sepia filter on it and it'll be awesome. My second choice would be a Shadowrun-style cyberpunk corporate-run dystopia. Too bad there's one flaw with MMOs that you can't remove - other people...
Aristes
I would like a Call of Cthulu sort of MMORPG. Something like Mythos where folks go insane and whatnot. The 1920-1930s would be fine by me also. Either that or the modern paranormal that someone suggested up above.

You can't really maintain a horror atmosphere with 6 idiots telling you stupid jokes on teamspeak. A good 1920/30 Mythosian rpg would be awesome, though. I'm sure the license is pretty cheap and Obsidian is already kind of working with Bethesda I'm not a big fan of modern paranormal horror stuff, the guns and tech really ruin the atmosphere. Aristes
I loled at the teamspeak statement. Funny. Yeah, I get your point, though. Still, it would be great for a large scale world as presented by an MMO. Too bad about the MMO, though. The story really takes a dive once you're dealing with tons of players. Don't mind me, I'm just camping the Shub-Niggurath spawn. On a more serious note, the sanity system offers a lot of great choices for an rpg(way more than increasingly blurry screen[tm]). Having to choose between your sanity and learning spells to survive would make for some great roleplaying. Suddenly you might not want to read every book and steal every shiny artifact. Purkake
I've never actually had to use voice chat with someone who I wasn't already familiar with. And non of the people you are familiar with make jokes while in voice chat? It's really hard to maintain the horror atmosphere and tension when there are multiple people around. It's really hard to maintain the horror atmosphere and tension when there are multiple people around. Though I don't know if a horror MMO is a good idea. The most fun I've ever had playing a game was Silent Hill 2 with a bunch of friends in college. The shrieking of the damned had nothing on those girls.
