I have faith in Obsidian. I hope Ryan is correct and it has not been cancelled.

 

One possibility - The layoffs have been anticipated for some time. With workforce cut down by some measure on both announced projects, Aliens has been put on hold and the workers from that project are now on AP. Sega also pushes back the release date to ensure that AP comes out right even with the staff shakeup.

Yeh, mods said that it was unnecessary to delet. I was excited about it being deleted because that means it was important and realiable

Don't know about you guys, but I don't want just an Aliens RPG, I want an Aliens RPG by Obsidian. This idea of changing developers is pretty ****ed. It's just as bad as it being canceled imho. Hope it's not true.

 

My thoughts exactly. I can't see any good coming out of this if it isn't being developed by Obsidian.

I think that the worst thing that could happen to the Aliens RPG is if it's being developed in house by Sega. Especially the ones who develop all the recent sonic games.

Finally, I should just say that from what I keep hearing that Sega guys really like the Obsidian guys they love Alpha Protocol, I very much doubt Aliens would be taken away from Obsidian just considering all the nice things Sega have to say about them frankly. I dont think that should even be kept a secret.

 

I also hope that what I have said makes Obsidian staff happy, If I thought it was going to offend them I wouldn't have posted, I am totally pumped for their up coming games.

 

 

 

Also, I really don't know a whole lot about the situation with Gearbox and Aliens:CM, I know Sega want CM to be made though.

No offense dude but thats why im not really sure we can go off your word. If you dont work for sega, then how are you getting this info? the thing that is wierd is no one from Obsidian or Gearbox is telling us that Ryans info is just a rumor or not to listen to him... dont get me wrong if you are telling us the truth then bless your soul but do you know where im comming from? this stuff is like religion to some of us.

No idea bout that, you pretty much have everything I know right now.

 

I said you'll hear about A:CM soon just because I don't think Sega will be quiet for too long, I'm shocked they have been quiet this long, it's pissing everyone off, forums are blazing with 'Sega this Sega that' hate and Sega haven't don't anything to salvage their reputation.

 

I don't know much about the fate of A:CM or Gearbox, I just know Sega don't /want/ to can any of the Aliens games.

Obsidian + Aliens RPG from what I have heard is SAFE I think it may have been delayed but this is due to the team focusing on Alpha Protocol, not a problem Aliens RPG.

Actually I agree with this, the reason developers never talk to you is because crap changes and they don't want to give you faulse info... So even though I promise you what I have been told is not a lie (take it or leave it) things can change so take what I've said as 'the closest thing to truth but not set in stone'... Because if something changes I don't want to be attacked, lol.

 

To recap what I've heard:

 

1) Aliens RPG, suspended not canned.

2) Alpha Protocol getting full attention right now, is looking good.

3) I don't know much about Gearbox/Alien: CM, Sega don't want to can it though.

Alpha Protocol is Obsidian's other game for Sega, a first person action-RPG in the super-spy genre that is expected to be released sometime in 2009.

I really hope the rumors are incorrect, because this is one of the most interesting games under development at the moment. Since Obsidian are different from other developers, looking after their games I think they will do a god job on that - I won't be disappointing, I'm sure of it.

 

But the question is... will it survive?

 

I hope we will see an official confirmation on this soon!

Note that the subject of the Aliens RPG is not broached - and in fact avoided entirely. : /
