Rosbjerg Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I was playing Left 4 Dead and having a blast, when my girlfriend comes over - now she not a big fan of computer games, especialy violent scary ones.. I swear, the shriek she let out, when she saw the game in action, rivaled anything I've ever heard in any horror game/movie.. If the neighbours heard it, I'm sure they thought she discovered a semi decomposed body down here or something.. Now she won't come over if I'm playing it.. God I love this game.. hahaha Anyone of you had a similar episode or some gaming experience you have to share? Fortune favors the bald.
Tigranes Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 When I was 11, mom saw me playing FF8 with a friend, and saw the Shiva summon. Commented that I was a bit too young to start watching porn with my buddies (as opposed to, uh, alone I guess). Clearly ready for akshun I played KOEI's Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV so much back then, I recently fired it up again and my mom instantly recognised it. After ten years! Also, an internet cafe opened in Wellington, and they have little booths with NES, SNES and... the Mega Drive 2. My first gaming experience. It still looks pretty good after all those years actually. Better than Superman 64. Let's Play: Icewind Dale Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Icewind Dale II Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Divinity II (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG1 (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG2 (In Progress)
samm Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 (edited) I was with a friend (that introduced me to BG which forced me to buy a PC) playing Halflife right after he first bought it. So he's playing it and already quite anxious what will happen, looks down a drain - a facehugger jumps in his face, he tosses the mouse into the air (throwing his arms up and forgetting to let go of the mouse) and jumps/falls off his chair. That was awesome and I could hide my own shock from the facehugger behind -ing Edited February 5, 2009 by samm Citizen of a country with a racist, hypocritical majority
Pidesco Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 My mom watched me playing AVP once as an alien, going around, eating people's heads. She screamed "don't do that!" at me. Calax Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 My brother had rented Ninja Scroll dvd and my mom walked in on him at EXACTLY the wrong time... What's that? Oh... this is supposed to be video games... ... The first time an armored replica came through the door in FEAR with that Penetrator 10mm I jumped like a cat. I also leaped out of my skin at one point during sixth sense (the ghost who vomited on the kid and had died because her mother poisoned her) And I forgot, resident Evil 3 Nemesis when Nemesis first blows through a wall (as he randomly does) and all you've got is a pistol. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.
alanschu Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 (edited) Rofl that's awesome re: L4D And yeah, Ninja Scroll rofl. Edited February 6, 2009 by alanschu
Tigranes Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 The only game that really made me jump was half-life 2, but then I haven't played Resident Evil and the like. Deadly_Nightshade Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Humm... I cannot remember a game that made me "jump" - even though I've played plenty of games who attempted to make me do that. "Geez. It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum." -Hurlshot
WILL THE ALMIGHTY Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 I've jumped a lot in Dead Space, and only a little in FEAR. Nothing to scare the crap out of people in the room though. "Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"
Maria Caliban Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 My brother had rented Ninja Scroll dvd and my mom walked in on him at EXACTLY the wrong time... It's Ninja Scroll. Every moment is EXACTLY the wrong time for one's mother to find one watching it. "When is this out. I can't wait to play it so I can talk at length about how bad it is." - Gorgon.

She was ok with the violence of it (we'd had to persuade her that we weren't violent... we couldn't watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when we were little so this was a breakthrough) but the one part where there was nudity... THAT'S when she walked in. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.
ramza Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I tried to convince my girlfriend to play Silent Hill 1, she made it past the intro movie and started walking in the fog at the beginning of the game. She then told me "What kind of game are you making me play? Do you want me to have nightmares all night?". That's when I switched off my playstation... I also wanted to make her play Resident Evil and Left4dead, but I except a similar reaction... I guess she can only play crash bandicoot, mario kart and the like... sigh... Oh, I also tried to introduce her to d&d by making her play BG2. She started with the tutorial but instead on concentrating on the game, she told me how beautiful the background and the music (harp) were. I gave up after that... She is definitely not into video games... "Ooo, squirrels, Boo! I know I saw them! Quick, throw nuts!" -Minsc "I am a well-known racist in the Realms! Elves? Dwarves? Ha! Kill'em all! ramza Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 By the way, I don't know about you guys but I find L4D to be a horribly boring game. There's not much to see when you have completed all the levels. It was interesting playing it at first but it gets quickly repetitive. What kept me going was that I was curious to see how each area looked like. Moreover, what's this about having more than 1000 lines recorded for each character? They were barely talking to each other in my playthrough... "Ooo, squirrels, Boo! I know I saw them! Quick, throw nuts!" -Minsc "I am a well-known racist in the Realms! Elves? Dwarves? Ha! Llyranor Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 L4D is a horrible game if you have no friends to play with. The AI is terrible. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Bos_hybrid Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 (edited) L4D is a horrible game if you have no friends to play with. The AI is terrible. L4D is a horrible game, if your team mates are crap. Bad team mates are worse than the AI. Especially those damn speed runners. Edited February 8, 2009 by Bos_hybrid
ramza Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Well, the only thing I cannot complain about is the AI. I have to admit that the other characters were pretty effective when it came to saving me from monsters and other difficult situations. Yes, the AI is indeed lacking (no use of bombs, bad use of medic packs and pills) but it was above average nonetheless. I am sure it is even better than some real players... "Ooo, squirrels, Boo!
