Humodour Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Michael Crichton died at age 66 today after battling cancer. Jurassic Park was an awesome novel, as were many of his books. R.I.P. http://entertainment.slashdot.org/entertai...6/0019253.shtml
Trenitay Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Thanks for totally saddening my day. He was a very good author. Hey now, my mother is huge and don't you forget it. The drunk can't even get off the couch to make herself a vodka drenched sandwich. Octopus suck.
Deadly_Nightshade Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 ****. "Geez. It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum." -Hurlshot
GreasyDogMeat Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Was a huge fan of his in my teens. Read almost every novel he wrote from Congo, Jurassic Park, Sphere to the Terminal Man. Freaking shame.
Humodour Posted November 6, 2008 Author Posted November 6, 2008 Man... Asimov, Pratchett, now Crichton.
Deadly_Nightshade Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 (edited) @DogMeat Timeline is my favorite, but, yeah, bad news for all of us... Edited November 6, 2008 by Deadly_Nightshade "Geez. Trenitay Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Sad day...... Prey was the best btw Hey now, my mother is huge and don't you forget it. The drunk can't even get off the couch to make herself a vodka drenched sandwich. Octopus suck.
Killian Kalthorne Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Wha?!?!? I didn't even know he was sick. Man, he did some really great stuff. "Your Job is not to die for your country, but set a man on fire, and take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."
Gorgon Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 I can't get myself to care when a celebrity dies, unless it's Gandhi or Nelson Mandela or something. Well, I was kinda nonplussed when Mother Theresa bought it as well. This is normal guys, people die all the time. 66 is only 5 years short of the male median living age. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.

He's not a celebrity, he's a great author. We are sad because a human life is lost, but it is noteworthy because he can no longer give his intellectual gifts to the world.
Azure79 Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Oh no~ The last novel of his I read was Prey, which I enjoyed. I have fond memories of reading his novels before bedtime when I was younger. Rest in Peace.
Blarghagh Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 This made me quite sad when I heard because Jurassic Park is pretty much responsible for 50% of my childhood.
Hurlshort Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 I would have to say The Great Train Robbery was my favorite Crichton novel. He was an amazing guy. Supposedly he wasn't even that set on being an author, he just published his early works to pay for medial school and the career took off on him.
Jediphile Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 ****. Aptly put. I share your sentiment Visit my KotOR blog at Deadly Forums.
