It is a really interesting, artsy, physics-based puzzle game. At first it looks like all you are building is bridges and towers, but almost all of the levels are unique. The controls can be a bit troublesome, but apart from that, it's a very charming game with an entertainingly surreal storyline and some fun puzzles. Well, it's a short game, but I wouldn't necessarily call it shallow. It is continually introducing new concepts and building on them, so it rarely feels like you're solving the same puzzle over and over again. And the art and music is top-notch. There's a free demo. crakkie Posted November 6, 2008 Share Posted November 6, 2008 I tried the demo, then got for the Wii. It's a bit easier to construct goo (?) with the wiimote. Very fun and innovative. It's a puzzle game that makes failure fun. It's gorgeous, has the best music of any game this year, and it's actually fun to watch someone else play it. There are practically no levels where you have to do the exact same thing, the conditions are always different. And if you take the time to read all the plaques you'll get a quirky little story and some pretty good humor. It is just a really fun and innovative game. It is also available on steam. Yeah, seriously my Eee PC 1000H can run it smoothly on power saving mode with integrated graphics and a 1.6GHz(running at 1.2 max with the power saving) single core processor. What the hell man? Tigranes Posted November 8, 2008 Share Posted November 8, 2008 I think it's been overhyped by RPS and certain sites - it's not anything "revolutionary" and "super amazing". But it's a damn good game and worth it for everyone. Beat it yesterday. Sound/music and graphics are very nice and characterised; the challenges very rarely get repetitive or silly. Basically the game is very well paced in moving onto something new and different before it gets stale, and each challenge is never so long or gruelling. You need to learn a new trick, experiment, then show you can do it a couple of times, then you move on - not learn it and do it ad nauseum. Only control annoyance is when there are 5000 goos flying around, and you want to select a specific type. This makes it very difficult to play quickly and dynamically. Instead it encourages you to build slowly and methodically, fearing a topple and tumble each step of the way. Which is good too, but some levels would have benefited from adding goos on the fly as your structure hurtles down. Yeah, it's not the game of the year, but it is an interesting and cheap indie game. It might have gotten a bit overhyped by some, but that was probably people fearing that otherwise it would get easily overlooked. In the end it is a solid puzzle game with unique charm, nothing more and nothing less. Is this better than that other overhyped puzzlegame? Which was?
