Flagship Studios is a business. The only way to support them is by:

A. Buying their product

B. Getting other people to buy their product

C. Contributing to the creation of their product

So is it a rational decision to buy a game you probably won't play or enjoy simply because you like something about the company, or because you feel they might make a game you would like some time in the future? You could buy a game and give it away as a gift, perhaps. And I know there were people who bought Galactic Civilizations II with no interest in the game itself, simply because they wanted to express support for Stardock's attitude towards DRM.

Generally speaking, I only buy a game that I think I will enjoy. WHich is why I bought Hellgate: London in the first place. Sometimes I am wrong, as I was with HG:L, but the intention was to buy the game. However, if I really do like a game, I wil sometimes buy multiple copies of the same game, both to keep an extra copy or two around and to support the developers.

As a rule though I'm not inclined to charity for game developers. Better to give it away to a homeless shelter or something.

However, I ALWAYS buy my games. ALWAYS. WHich is more than a lot of people can say.

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.

Looks like I better go out and buy the game before it disappears.

It does seem a little unfair to support a company whose games you won't buy yourself.

I agree with Steve. This means less diversity, and that sucks.

It makes no sense to buy a product who don't want for the sake of a supporting company, but when it comes to business, moral support offers no meaningful contribution.

I think we are just arguing over the word support here. Why don't we come up with a new word that means spiritually supporting a company?

Support your favorite gaming company whether that game is awesome or sewage. I supported BIS/Interplay when I bought PST and Lioheart even though they fall in the sewage category.
