It looks so awesome. The ideas they have for the SP campaign sound good as well. I wonder what the have planned for multiplayer.

Using a gamepad to control an FPS is like trying to fight evil through maple syrup.

I hope they follow the same narration style as they did for CoH. What better way to convey the audiences the world of WH40K afterall?

We certainly know the marines and orcs will be playable races and no doubt the Chaos. I hope for the Tyranides makes it in this time seeing that they claimed CQC has been successfully been implemented in CoH's engine.

The problem I had was that they turned it from a space RTS into an RTS in space and while it was a good game in its own right (I did get a lot of play out of it) it was a very different beast from HW1 (one of my alltime favorate games). This isn't me complaining about 'the good old days wah wah fallout in name only' but more that when it comes to ships, be they space, sea or air a slower and more methodical approch to strategy is perfered. Having half my frigates melt in a quarter of a second and having to constantly recall squads was not tyte compared to the extended capital-ship slugfests and custom 'on the fly' fighter formation tactics that I had enjoyed in HW1, even if HW1 wasn't balanced or streamlined that well.

Good game, but I wouldn't fanboy over HW3.

....like I am over DoW2, this game can't come soon enough

I played a couple single player games of that Star Wars mod for Homeworld 2. Can I join in on this conversation?

I mostly want to see Homeworld 3 because theres no other game in town. Honestly, early disruption is a key part of any RTS.

Frigs are useless unless they are massed and hit before the most heavy stuff arrives, and a frig rush is hard, except maybe a vagyr one. Recalling wings only works if you are winning, otherwise it just speeds your demise. I don't mind either of these things. It's still very satisfying to blow the other guy's shipyard before he can get anything out of his massive investment. If anything the super heavy ship classes come too soon in HW2.

Is it as good as Homeworld, no way, but like I said theres no other game in town.

I have Sins, I tried playing a tutorial and lost interest almost immediately. On top of that its been 3 weeks of my account web page saying i'm good to go, and the game saying that my account doesn't exist.

I never heard of Jupiter, I don't suppose theres a demo.

I was thinking the same thing, but neither of those are space RTSs, the former being a 4X, the latter being a sim.

The only thing that comes close really is Genesis Rising (ignoring the older Heagemonia and ORB), but that didn\\\'t get great reviews.

EDIT: Try Nexus, there's a demo out there, but it really shoves you in at the deep end. It IS controling spaceships, but it\\\'s NOT a space RTS, as each ship is an army in itself and irreplacible within the mission. While ships will fight on their own, each subsysytem can be tinkered with so you can, for example, drop power to engines, renforce sheilds, have one weapon array fire at a cirtain hostile while another fires at another and launch fighters to intercept hostile torpedos.

Pretty too. Like DoW2! See, this post is on topic!

Nexus is freaking brilliant, but get out of our DoW thread, heretic!

Oh yeah? How about you try doing that with my fist in your FACE!

In any case, I wonder how Relic is going to go about skirmish and multiplayer. The experience gain mechanic, loot and such do not seem like they would work in a regular deathmatch at first sight. I'm wondering if there even is a single match capability or if multiplayer has some sort of campaign map as well.

It will be interesting to see how players will react to the fact that they can't just spam 1,5 tier with heavy bolters, but only have 6 squads. I mean, that sounds a lot, but with CoH style cover and garrisonable buildings, it's a whole new battlefield.

Personally, i'm hoping for a consistent conponent to multiplayer.

Combined with a more 'WiC' style of multiplayer, which plays less like an RTS and more like an isometric Day of Defeat and you'd have me very interested.

Here's hoping they get the consistent component in. I can't imagine what a massive amount of testing getting everything balanced will need.
