Shryke Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 So are Flight of the Conchords hehe i bumped into Jermaine in town a while ago and grabbed a coffee he seems a pretty cool dude when your mind works against you - fight back with substance abuse!
Tigranes Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I'm not a fan of Fawlty Towers actually, Cleese is pretty good but the show has entirely too much screechy yelling and isn't really tyte. I love Blackadder, Monty Python and Black Books though. Let's Play: Icewind Dale Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Icewind Dale II Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Divinity II (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG1 (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG2 (In Progress)
Nick_i_am Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Faulty Towers is a comedy of embarisment, which can make it painful to watch. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Gfted1 Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I remember watching Benny Hill as a child. To my sheltered American mind it was awesome what with the hot girls and occasional naked boob slipping past the censors. Good times, good times. "I'm your biggest fan, Ill follow you until you love me, Papa"
Landiskan Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Anyone else ever seen Allo Allo? Amazing comedy of Occupied France. :D
Nick_i_am Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 It's another British classic. Completely predictable, but that's part of the charm. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
samm Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 So are Flight of the Conchords hehe i bumped into Jermaine in town a while ago and grabbed a coffee he seems a pretty cool dude You know, it certainly makes living in Wellington seem cooler to me. Citizen of a country with a racist, hypocritical majority

Humodour Posted March 15, 2008 Author Posted March 15, 2008 wellington is cool beans you guys should all come! (except you TA) Tempting offer. I think I'd find it uncomfortable being around so many violated sheep, though.

Nick_i_am Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 That's my new favorate one-liner. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
LadyCrimson Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 I've never seen the British version of "The Office." Maybe I'd like it better. I don't find the American one funny at all, even tho I do like Steve Carell. I often like cynical/sarcastic satire/attitude & humor (the dad in that 70's show, George Carlin, Dr. House, Monty Python etc.) but something about The Office ... I've tried to watch it repeatedly but it never makes me even crack a smile. :/ “Things are as they are. Looking out into the universe at night, we make no comparisons between right and wrong stars, nor between well and badly arranged constellations.” – Alan Watts
Nick_i_am Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 The first series of the american version uses exactly the same script, so it really depends on your liking the actors. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
LadyCrimson Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Cable on-demand has some of the British version, and I tried to watch it. I still didn't like it. It's just not funny ... I guess the humor is far too subtle for me and is too much like watching people in a real office occasionally mutter to each other - it puts me to sleep. Hubby doesn't like it either. I guess we're not with it. “Things are as they are. Looking out into the universe at night, we make no comparisons between right and wrong stars, nor between well and badly arranged constellations.” – Alan Watts
walkerguy Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 HAHAHA Oh geez, "people in a real office occasionally muttering to each other." Twitter | @Insevin
LadyCrimson Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Hehe The point being - it's boring to listen to to unless you're somehow "in" on the joke. “Things are as they are. Looking out into the universe at night, we make no comparisons between right and wrong stars, nor between well and badly arranged constellations.” – Alan Watts
