What about the music / sound?

But... but... think about the Immersion! ®

Get somebody like Mike Severn to make ambient tracks for level intros, during actual gameplay reserve the only soundscape to be enviromenta sounds like pipes, machines, jungle birds and perhaps have some sort of droning noise wall when you have a boss fight. No actual songs, thanks.

Though you could get by with a menu theme.

They can hire this man to compose the music.

From The Lady in Red over Braveheart and Titanic to Apocalypto...

I am not sure I can imagine that together with Alien games...

Maybe Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou (aka Vangelis)? http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0006331/

Maybe not as prolific as James Horner, but I still love his Bladerunner soundtrack :(

Those guys cost a ton. As much as I'd like James Horner to do all the soundtracks ever(I don't, even though Enemy at the Gates OST was godly), it's just not viable.

I'd like to hear different musics, to suit the different moods of the game in time. I already said I want to see a freeform ramble turn later into a struggle for survival. This shouldn't be too hard to achieve musically.

Needs to have one or two of those otherworldy pieces reminiscent of the first movie. AvP had those for Alien and I loved them. Of course they won't fit just any part of the game. They'd probably be for those "awe" moments.

SODOFF Steam group.

After experiencing the audio in MotB, I have to say I'm pretty ecstatic about the audio director. It really is one of the better soundtracks I've heard in a RPG, wonderfully varied. The voiceacting is also good, and never once did I think "this actor stinks" which I tend to do in most games at one point or another.

The fact that they hired this new audio director, and also a new art director really made MotB a better experience than NWN2 all in all. I don't particularly care about shiny graphics, but having a good visual/sound design is very important in games I think.

A little preponderant in the Siamese section? Maybe add some pandas to round out the bass?

I'd like to see a return to more dark ambient music (such as Fallout's). I felt that always added a more "feel" to an area, than scored music.

I agree. Fallout's ambient music set the mood of the game.

Did anyone else like the Bioshock music?

I thought Warren and Brosius did a great job, not as great as some of Brosius' previous work, but a very fitting soundtrack nonetheless.

I strongly agree with this. A few times during MotB I thought of the Aliens RPG and felt happy that the same guy would be doing it.

I'm beginning to doze off, but I had this strange image of a big ornate ballroom, and piped string quartet. Tango... Zzzzzz... Grenades...

It was pretty good, yeah. The Steinman theme with the screechy violins was pure terror. The audio direction in that game was near perfect.

I agree, that was a good move for Obsidian. <3

This bodes well for the Alien RPG.

Certainly the backup songs were.

On a similar note* what about the notion of each character path or alignment having its own unique songs. So there's an instrumental track that is action specific. But there's also an additional set of songs that come in for other things.

*Pun intended.

Dissonance creates tension. Imagine investigating the abandoned Hadley's Hope to this music.

The score for There Will Be Blood is brilliant.

Thanks for the awesome avatar Jorian!

I think it would be cool to have liteweight pop songs going on in the background sometimes.
