Also being published in 2008 by Codemasters is Rise of the Argonauts, an action role-playing game developed by Liquid Entertainment. Rise of the Argonauts will be set in ancient Greece, with players leading a team of famous warriors including Jason, Hercules, and Atalanta on an epic quest through the ancient land. The game will also be released on PC and "leading console formats."

Very little information, but I've been on the bad end (ie playing) a fair number of Greek Mythology inspired RPG/TRPG/ARPG/other initials and to be honest the little blurb doesn't overly excite me.

Maybe that'll change with more info, screen shots and what have you...

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

Anyone remember Invictus?

I still have it.

And it was, oddly enough, one of the games in the forefront of my mind while reading about the game!

How was it? I was always pretty interested, thanks to being on the same engine as Myth 3, but I never actually bought it.

Invictus was one of the worst games I ever played. Had a great idea and some interesting artwork but the actual battles were IMO poorly designed and planned. In particular I hate the one in which you had a time limit to run across the map without stopping to fight all the opponents you'd trigger to try and find someone who'd been kidnapped when you had no idea which part of the map they'd actually were supposed to have run off on. Took me several increasingly frustrating tried to figure out where they were in time and then defeat the opponents and rescue the kidnapee.

But maybe people who are better at strategy games would like it more (although I seem to remember reading poor reviews of it after I'd bought it).

Nice visuals, altough I liked TitanQues look more(it was clearner and sharper, UE3.0 has that fuzziness about it), but the framerate was absolutely horrible.

Anyway it will propably be a nice game, but it's yet another RPG from strategy developer. I have yet to see such game(with notable and noble exception of Darklands) turn out to be truly great, some can be good(like Dungeon Siege, TQ, Diablo or Sacred), others are just simply bad, but

But it's strange that this rule doesn't work the other way, there's plenty of cases when a RPG-centric dev made great strategy games(SirTech and New World Computing for example)

It definitly wasn't running on Myth 3 engine(which was modified Myth2 engine). I mean it used voxels  If anything it looked strangely like Hexplore :)

Anyway it was preety average game, one of earliest RTS-RPG mix that actualy worked, but it had serious problems and nowadays after games like Celtic Kings and Spellforce 1-2 showed how such mix should look like it's not worth playing.
