Oerwinde Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 I am, however, slightly perturbed at the apparent lack of new modules and custom content. The NWN toolset is simple to use. Seriously, that's it. A smoother learning curve means more people finishing their first module. This means less people trying to make their first module but getting frustrated and giving up. Once you have that first module out there, you get the positive feedback and you 'feel' like part of the community, and you're more likely to make a second one that's a bit more polished, and uses a bit more features. My problem is I love playing with the level design, but I keep getting scared when it comes to adding conversations and scripting and such. CoM_Solaufein Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 And, anyone who thinks BG2's graphics are better than NWN's is just wrong as well. BG2's is far better looking graphics and the story was far more interesting compared to NWN. Oerwinde Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 BG had way better backgrounds. But despite its faults, I did like the NWN character graphics better. Mostly because the animations were so much better. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.

Dark_Raven Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 "Oh and BTW, KOTOR > NWN." This alone nullifies your post. P.S. I agree that the Detsher thing could have been handled better though. PoR 2 was better than NWN. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.

Pidesco Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Better than V:tM Bloodlines? Nah. I just realized Deus Ex came out before BG 2. Just by a month or so, I think. That was a pretty cool gaming year. Not really, SOU is still after all these years the only BIO NWN game I finished. NWN OC underrated? Surely you must be joking. J1 Visa Southern California Cleaning
Sand Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Better than V:tM Bloodlines? Nah. I just realized Deus Ex came out before BG 2. Yes, better than Bloodlines. Even if Deus Ex came after I consider Deus Ex a FPS. A damn good FPS, but a FPS nonetheless. J.E. Sawyer Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 My problem is I love playing with the level design, but I keep getting scared when it comes to adding conversations and scripting and such. Just start doing it. It's really pretty easy. The creative part is what's time consuming as far as dialogues go. The NWN2 toolset's coversation editor makes the technical aspects of conversation really simple. Scripting is kind of tough at times, but if I can do it, most people should be able to do it. twitter tyme

Humodour Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 This is what threads devolve to when Volourn starts losing his side of the argument. And Visceris, after all these years, I still have the urge to punch you when you say Deus Ex isn't an RPG. But I personally loved Vampire: TM. Weak ending but it was very enjoyable. I think it pulled off the FPS-RPG thing quite well. Close to Deus Ex in that regard.
Volourn Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 "This is what threads devolve to when Volourn starts losing his side of the argument." There was an argument? Where? I saw an exchange of opinions. Sand Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 (edited) And Visceris, after all these years, I still have the urge to punch you when you say Deus Ex isn't an RPG. Why? It is a good story driven FPS with good actiony bits. The only game that comes close to its style is Stalker. I saw an exchange of opinions. And, I never lose espciially since it's all opinion, Sir Doofus. Cheer up, buddy. But really an exchange of opinions is usually like "I think so and so" not "Such and such is the truth and you are wrong"... which would be an argument.

The player can adapt JC (e.g. change PC statistics, like improve sniper-rifle skills at the cost of blunt weapons) to PLAY A ROLE, from a totally stealthy character to a tank. That says to me that it is a ROLE-PLAYING GAME. Your mileage may differ. OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
Sand Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Eh? If it plays like a shooter then it is a shooter. Deus Ex played like a shooter. A very involved shooter, but a shooter nonetheless. Sand Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Depends if the game is turn base or not, Meta. In Deus Ex, I jumped, shoot things, stalked prey, and so forth and so on in all in real time with button smashing. Just like any other FPS I have played.
