*chuckles* They're good at what they do, but what they do is no good.

I was trying to not let my idea of what a RPG 'ought to be' influence that last post. Morrowind *was* excellent for what it was, even if what it was isn't what

No, it would be Fallout 3. Fallout came out in 1997.

Not at all. You want Fallout, but that game has already been released.

It's the same over at the Dragon Age forums. Tons of people who don't seem to realize that Baldur's Gate II came out in 2000.

Yes, you are. I want Fallout 3 to be recognizably Fallout beyond just the title. That should be obvious even to one such as you.

It's a post-apocalyptic role-playing game, and will likely have radiation, the Brotherhood of Steel, and two-headed cows.

I believe they have only the licence for 3 sequels. We just have to wait for 15 years.

Fallout: Tactics 2 for PC and Fallout: Dusk of Steel for the Nintendo DS.

Yeah I went there.

I'm actually not against a Fallout: Tactics 2. I enjoyed the first one quite a bit. IMO it was what Icewind Dale was to Baldurs Gate. Not quite on the same quality level as IWD, but an enjoyable post apocalyptic romp nonetheless.

A turn based Fallout on the DS (much in the same vein as Advance Wars) would actually rock. If they'd manage the lovely setting and humour of the Fallout franchise, of course.

I have no problems with Fallout going console just as long the PC side of things don't suffer for it.

Fallout: Europe

From an American developer? HELL NOOO! ;)

Besides, I'm currently playing STALKER, that's the closest you can get.

But I think a real Fallout sequel might be done. Ferg just has to ask the Bethesda people nicely. I mean they're all geeks, so it might turn out pretty well. Besides, allegedly Bethesda don't have the intention to name their Fallout "Fallout 3", but "Fallout: Oblivion with guns" or something like that....

If they actually called their fallout game "Oblivion with Guns" I'd applaud them. Then they could outsource F3 to Obsidian and publish it.

They'd be dumb not doing otherwise (I mean not the "Oblivion with gunz", but Fallout: Subtitle). After all, they have to introduce the Fallout setting to the console crowd as well, so a number just wouldn't fit there.

But yeah, I hope Ferg bugs them about a Van Buren style game. It's indeed a possibility.

Yes. I really wish these companies would produce fewer new games and game engines (with all the bugs and technical problems that entails) and spend more time producing quality expansion packs for each others' games. I would have loved to see a Troika or Obsidian expansion pack for Oblivion, or a Bethesda premium mod for NWN.

That would be wierd. Possibly fun... But wierd.

Bethesda is a publisher as well as a developer, so its not out of the question that Obsidian could do a fallout game in the future. Not just an expansion, but a full game.

Hopefully Feargus will get Obsidian to create their own Post Apocalypse world and let Avellone run with it. Much better than letting the Necromancers have another go at Fallout's corpse.

Or maybe Wasteland can be picked up for a song? =]

Avellone and Sawyer have more than enough ability to create a new Post apoc world without it being silly surely. Time to see what Obsidian can do from the drawing board to the end product. With their own license. :teehee:

Yeah and I can think of a few other old games that I would love to see a remake/reprise in the DS. We should lobby for it, since Bethesda has the rights for hand held games, maybe they can outsource the thing.

Jagged Alliance II, Disciples II and Warlords are being made for the DS.

Bethesda has also published a (crappy, apparently) Star Trek DS title as well, so the precedent is there.

is a little know fact that fergie and Gromnir is tight... kinda likes third cousins who mildly dislike each other based 'pon the 2 or 3 times they has met at reunions or funerals over past couple decades. real tight.

anyways, the 40k stuff is smoke screen. fergie has always had a favorite post-apoc license that he has wished to devotes millions o' dollars and thousands o' man hours to realizing... combines magic and tech.

am not always on same page as obsidians, but we thinks this one gots real potential.
