Slowtrain Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Ugh.. honestly, a dude with little wings on the side of his ears who throws around a giant shield with a flag symbol on it. As superhero concepts go it's pretty horrible. You're right. A guy who can stretch himself like a rubber band and some girl who shoots force fields out of her head is so much better. Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.

Gromnir Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Captain America was a joke. There isen't going to be a Ben Afleck move, and thank the gods for it. whatever faults captain america possessed, at least he were kewler than captain britain. HA! Good Fun! Gorgon Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 (edited) There is one ? Personally i'm holding out for Captain Lower Moldavia and Sargent Lichtenstein. Corporal Copenhagen ? Calax Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 another reason manga dominates is because It's got stories for more than one agegroup and gender. Civil war was disliked because most of the readers felt that Millar took what he thought the characters should be (their ultimate templates) and used those instead or using the "normal" personalities. Oerwinde Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 My only problem with Manga is the art. You have 3 or 4 people who have a unique style, then all the rest are pretty much the same. Its gets old. At least with american comics you have a good variety. Joe Mad, Bryan Hitch, Alex Ross, the Kuberts, Romita Jr, etc. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.

Oerwinde Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 From what I've seen, I think Punisher might actually don the mask for a while. http://www.marvel.com/news/comicstories.88...omicstories.889 Hrmm... looks like I might have been right. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
Sand Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Oh, hell no. I rather have Deadpool as the new Captain America than Punisher. I rather see Howard the Duck as Captain America than Punisher. Murphy's Law of Computer Gaming: The listed minimum specifications written on the box by the publisher are not the minimum specifications of the game set by the developer. @\NightandtheShape/@ - "Because you're a bizzare strange deranged human?" Atreides Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 If you read, Punisher has great respect for Capt. When Capt surrendered as Steve Rogers (not Capt) to the Registration Act, Punisher was there to pick up the mask. Plus Punisher's taken out B-grade criminals with snipers, regular fragging (in the stunned/shock period) and poisoned and blew up a whole bar where a bunch of criminals gathered at a funeral. Class. Civil War's given me respect for Iron Man, and maybe showed me that Capt, Namor and Black Panther ain't that lame. Spreading beauty with my katana.
Oerwinde Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 (edited) Yeah, Punisher has mad respect for Cap, and I don't think he'll actually call himself captain america, just wear the costume to honor a man he respected. A lot of people have been saying that it makes sense for Frank to don the mask though, since in Frontline they point out that Steve has lost touch with america and represents the ideal of America, while Punisher represents the US of today. Not necessarily what the US wants to be, but what it is. Edited March 17, 2007 by Oerwinde The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
Calax Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 so Steve Rogers: 1940's version of what we wanted people to be, essentially a nazi paragon, with good manners and a wierd sense of honor and values (he's got a 1940's value system be he hops into bed with people at a moments notice?) Frank Castle: what people want today, blood gutz gore and more killings than a small war. Also has an odd sense of honor but his values are not exactly what the american people want (get in my way or sell drugs or work for the mob for five seconds, and I'ma gonna kill ya!) Kor Qel Droma Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 hey, thanks for sharing! At first I was a little shocked that they'd pull this off. Then I remembered that nobody in comics really stays dead. Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.

Tale Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 (edited) Apparently there's two versions of that quote. "Nobody in comics stays dead except Bucky, Jason Todd, and Uncle Ben" is the other version. And Jason Todd has also come back. Uncle Ben never came back, he did, however, have appearances in Ultimate Spider Man which is an alternate reality version. And according to Wikipedia, another alternate reality Ben entered Earth 616 for a time. Edited March 17, 2007 by Tale "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
Oerwinde Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 At least when they brought back Jason Todd and Bucky it wasn't lame. Winter Soldier is awesome, and Jason Todd beat the crap out of Joker with a crowbar. Nothing uncool about that. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
