Tenhi - Kuulut kesiin(July's Wreath)

Wreath of lament on your hair

Thin flower threads

July's tress

Hidden lips

Kept in secret

Yeah, they are great. I do like the solo project, Harmaa, of the lead artist quite a bit more.

They remind me of Ulver and are very folklorish without being mundanely viking.

I suddenly feel like writing a song called "blood is the new pink" about how emo's take all this awesome imagery... and shove it down the toilet.

Now, for a short poem I wrote:

Chinese Democracy pushed back to next year.

The new Guns N' Roses might never appear

On Jupiter you can hear echoes of cries,

Of everyone's noting how no one's surprised.

Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee - Jesus Gonna Make it Alright.

I'm gonna get some Steve Earle tomorrow, uh, after school, unless I blow my pocket change on Philip Roth novels and post-pubescent hoochies (hint: all things assessed, not exactly a soothsayer's bet).

(+44)-"When Your Heart Stops Beating"

For anyone familiar with Blink182, Mark Hoppus (bassist for Blink) and Travis Barker (drummer for Blink) teamed up Shane Gallagher (of The Nervous Return) and Craig Fairbaugh to make some great music.

Hmm.... what Steve Earle?

For latter-day, post-heroin, politically-charged roots-rock (enough hyphens for ya?), I'd say Jerusalem is a good buy.

I'm partial to I Feel Alright, although some champion Train a Comin as his best album. You can't go wrong with either.

Of course if you can find it, Shut Up and Die Like an Aviator not only has the greatest title for a live album I have ever heard, but it's a great collection of his best pre-jail work.

There are a few nice comps out there that have the best tunes from the first few albums, but you probably want to hear it in the original context, as the artist intended, etc. etc.

John Fogerty - The Old Man Down The Road

Listening to this song makes me think I should hidey hide. Then I give it some more thought and consider hidey hidey hide as a better option. Damn! The old man is down the road.

*Insert twangy guitar riff*

Wouldn't hold out much hope for the tape deck, though.

Yeah, or the Creedence.

Copperhead Road is off uh, Copperhead Road. And any "essential" Steve Earle compilation you could happen to find (There's about 15 of them). It's also got "The Devil's Right Hand" and "Johnny Come Lately" on it, two classic Earle tunes.
