Say "hi" to Bill for me.

I am OK with that, but I wonder if you've considered the fact that I could as easily punch him up the conk?

Although, this requires that you were stupid enough to let windows update install WGA on your system in the first place.

In Internet Explorer: Tools/Internet Options/Programs Tab/Manage Add-Ons.

In the list that appears in the window, look for Windows Genuine Advantage. Select it and click deactivate.

I hate Internet Explorer.

Me too. I use Firefox. But IE is the only place where you can deactivate WGA. Only place I found anyway.

There are also some registry editing and other more complicated stuff.

And M$ is always trying to find new ways to keep the WGA working so one way may work for a few days but they usually find a "$olution" pretty quickly, and hackers then counter strike with another bypass.

Until the end of time.

Or you can just go to add/remove programs and uninstall it. Of course that takes away your ability to do a manual windows update as well as trying beta software like ie7 and such.

Exactly.

Incidentally, I'm really liking IE7. I haven't used Firefox on my Windows box ever since it was released. Apart from a few rare rendering bugs on some websites, everything works exactly as it's supposed to. Sure, it's a Firefox ripoff, but a damn good one.
