I was just being ironical... in other words, I was saying that I didn't care about what could happen to this world as long as I had the time to complete my favorite games before earth's total destruction (because I have been owning a few games, like KOTOR 1&2 for quite some time, waiting desperately to get a new pc in order to play them... if such a thing is ever gonna happen...well I hope it will... I wouldn't like to die before having the chance to try them at least).

Maybe  theyve been exposed to so much corporate propaganda that theyve begun to believe the opposite?  :)"

or maybe folks like you have been exposed to too much liberal (read: socialist) nonsense?

i just love it when people try to blame corporations for everything bad.

Was that first line sarcasm? Please, tell me it was.

sarcasm? uh, kaftan is rather open about his left of center viewpoint (at least compared to me) if that was what you were referring to?

otherwise, liberal (uh, extreme) ideas regarding the environment are, in my opinion, extremely disingenuous. science is merely a distraction when socialist policies are concerned. furthermore, the media love to hop on a bandwagon and continually over-emphasize, and even lie about, nearly every environmental position that has ever been debated.

so, no, no sarcasm.

The line "or maybe folks like you have been exposed to too much liberal (read: socialist) nonsense?", I thought was done sarcastically for effect.

If it wasn't, then you don't see a problem there? That's what the "other side" constantly says in this sort of argument.

Ya sort of just did the exact same thing he did then.

? so... i never criticized what he did, i criticized the view itself.

his position is that "corporations bad, government good". this is the same liberal/socialist nonsense we get pounded with every day in the media. there's apparently boatloads of corporate propaganda out there, but i have yet to figure out who is propagating it because it sure isn't the media. commercials? maybe a few, but for chrissakes, they're commercials, not news.

Where did the "government good" part come into the equation? From what I've seen, both tend to get lumped together into one overall "ungodly evil force bent on our slow, painful annihilation".

the socialist mantra. govmint good, corporate bad. typical response from kaftan, he tends to see conspiracy in corporate methods (capitalism).

oh, and no, i don't see conspiracy in socialism necessarily (though many that advocate it could be considered conspirators i suppose). my beef is that it just don't work.

PS: i'm not intentionally picking on kaftan, it's just that he made the comment which we seem to have diverged into discussing. it could have been anybody with similar views.

Hey guys, remember in Highlander 2 when Christopher Lambert made the sky red to to shield the Earth from UV rays? Yeah that film was stupid. Wtf is Planet Zeist?

That wins my vote for the WORST film ever made. (Considering all the possible permuations, including such diverse effects as the follow-up to a good film, and the total distortion of the original plot, acting, characters, all the themes and even the leitmotifs!)

i wasn't a fan of the 2nd, either. the 3rd was better than that one.

of course, they scorch the sky in the matrix, too. exactly how does one do irreparable damage to "the sky" and yet clouds remain?

Aren't those clouds the "damage" in Matrix? They blocked the sun permanently.

yes, they are. but the behavior of clouds in the atmoshpere dictates that at some point they will rain out. it is cyclical.

just a nit, but definitely bad science.

Oh is that how rain works? It comes from clouds? Clouds are rain pillows? WOW!

It's called Science-Fiction for a reason.

no, not really. the confluence of factors that led to this situation are not possible here in spite of crazed environmentalist ranting. well, maybe when the sun starts expanding in a few billion years, right before it engulfs the earth...
