Woo-hoo! Good work.

"Our most ambitious project ever is finally done," said Todd Howard, executive producer of Oblivion. "We're excited to get the game into everyone's hands and let them experience it for themselves. We hope they enjoy it. I think it's our best game yet."

...Oblivion is an epic, open-ended single-player RPG for the next generation providing gamers with one of the most life-like gaming experiences to date. The powerful combination of unprecedented graphics and freeform gameplay allows gamers to unravel the main quest or explore the vast world at their own pace....

That mightbe good. But it might mean more polygon soup eating ...

Not to mention a shift to Chaos.

Stolidly inane, I wonder how Bethesda will once more ingeniously violate my frivolous understanding, a couple of assuredly shallow words come to mind, "fun", "intelligent", "role-playing".

Oblivion is like totally going to reinvent the genre, no more of that messy reading!

Now, I remember why I *hate* games. : (

Well, if it's less of an idiot than most idiots, that's a good thing right?

Looks like the Gameplay date was right.

I have to agree with Volourn.  Bioware is pretty much dead now.  Deals like this kills development studios.

As we all know recommended = minimum. They're pretty reasonable requirements considering it's a top of the range game.

Recommended only = minimum if you are not very flexible with your performance settings IMO.

If they go the way of Morrowind, Oblivion will run like death on the recommended system.

Morrowind's engine was certainly NOT optimalised for the PC. I think they learned their lesson though and act like Rockstar.

(Note the difference in performance/issues between the PC versions of GTA)

I did raise an eyebrow at the 500 MHz minimum requirement for Morrowind.

The minimum requirements seem just so much higher now (relatively speaking). I think they were a bit more conservative. Morrowind officially supported slow-ass cards from years before.

I tried to play Morrowind with an Athlon 800 Mhz + 128 mb ram + 32 mb tnt machine when it was out.

It was just unplayable with full detail.

Hahaha, 32 MB TNT for the win!

I don't remember what video card I had at the time. I either had the Rage Fury or the original Radeon...I'm 99% sure the latter. I also had an Athlon 1 GHz T-Bird, which really helped.

I'm pretty sure I had the Radeon, because I could play the game really nice, but I didn't have the pixel shader support....later I got a card that had it and the water was truly unbelievable.

I played it with an nVidia Go (something) ...
