BFME is better for your money though, since BF is basically just multiplayer and the single player bots aren't exactly the sharpest of knives in the drawer. Hurlshort Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Ok, they are two totally different genres. If you want Battlefront, go get Battlefield. It's better in every way, except it's not Star Wars, but I'm sure a mod will come out eventually. If you want Battle for Middle Earth...well I hate RTS games so I won't touch this one.
Calax Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 battlefront one is not a very good shooter... 2 is one of the all time greatest but one has to small of maps, and is quite boring because it's just take and hold battles. BFME is unique... it can feel horribly slow because your base is confined to X number of build spots for EVERYTHING you need. Only one resourse but it can feel incredibly slow coming in. The game play is very unbalanced in terms of what each side should do. Gondor/rohan=play turtle until your attack force is hitting the unit cap, Mordor/Isenguard=keep attacking to keep the other guy away from your base. the reason it's like this is because Gondor and Rohan have walls that are easy to defend. while modor doesn't but gets a heck of alot more units to the group. for twenty bucks I'd pick up Warhammer Dawn of War instead. It's got all the elements for a great game, but something is just not there to pull it all together. 1-10? I'd go 6. 7 if anyone was ever on live for me to play against anymore. They did do much better on the sequel, (which is a bit of a rarity I know) kind of like they lost focus in the middle of making the first, and realized it, and concetrated better on the second to make sure they got it right. The sequel I give a 8. BFMC (Also known to some as Battlefield 2) is one of the most annoying things I have ever played in my life. Again, lots of great elements, but the maps are WAY too big. If you don't have a vehicle nearby, you are in for a frustrating time on foot, and you'll get sniped LONG before you get anywhere. If they'd shrink all the maps 25% I'd have probably enjoyed it better, 35% and I'd have loved it. And I am that guy who manages to respawn three seconds after the whole team left the area with all the vehicles, that my luck. Run run run, get sniped, repeat. Very frustrating. Hurlshort Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Battlefield Modern Combat and Battlefield 2 are NOT the same thing. BFMC is a bad console game. BF2 is an excellent PC only game. They share nothing but the word Battlefield.

astr0creep Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Battlefront 2 is a very good Star Wars game and MUCH better than #1. It can also be very long and could hold your interest until NWN2 is released. it's also more expensive since it came out a few months ago. I LOVED it on PC, not so much on PS2. Battle for Middle Earth, I found it too easy and short but you have skirmish mode and, well, it's LotR and it has some cool new RTS concepts(as far as I know). It could also be less pricey because it's been out for about a full year now. BfME is like Kohan with Gandalf and a demon of the ancient world... SWBF2 is like Battlefield with Jedis and DARTH frakkin VADER... I would get BfME because I recently finished SWBF2. Actually, in your situation I would get Dragon Quest 8, or maybe Digital Devil Saga 2. http://entertainmentandbeyond.blogspot.com/

It's got much more going for it on the single player side, and there's still a few others playing it online. I enjoy it pretty well.
