alanschu Posted February 19, 2006 Author Posted February 19, 2006 For hordes of easy bad guys, I still used melee weapons with my gun build. It's not much of an issue though, as blood buff gives you the ability to use almost any weapon effectively.
Atreides Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 How useful's Pressence, btw? Should I be stingy with the experience points (keeping about 10 in reserve) or should I spend all of them as they come? Anything particularly useful to upgrade? Spreading beauty with my katana.
alanschu Posted February 19, 2006 Author Posted February 19, 2006 Is presence the one that weakens all around you?
Atreides Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Yeah. I'm a little disappointed it's not available in dialogue choices like Dementia or Dominate. I'd find it more splashable (sorry, mtg lingo) if it affected dialogue too. I'm just not seeing enough sexy hypno charm in my Toreador dialogue. Spreading beauty with my katana.
alanschu Posted February 19, 2006 Author Posted February 19, 2006 I found Presence useless. I don't think I ever used it actually. If I did it was in 2004. I'd suggest skipping it personally.
Gabrielle Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 You need to boost up your Persuade and/or Seduction stats to get those in the dialogues. Presence will weaken the enemy around you even bosses.
Atreides Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Yeah, but those are stat based. I wish there was blood discipline dialogue options for Toreador like Dementia and Dominate. Spreading beauty with my katana.

Atreides Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Need help urgently! How do I solve the 3 candles riddle in Grout's mansion? I've jumped down the hatch from the upper level and I read something about Perception, Mind and Time but how do I reach harmony? What harmony - all candles on?? Spreading beauty with my katana.

Ginthaeriel Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 How can I get my Tremere a new apartment? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There's that Tremere bald guy who asks you to complete that plagued vampire quest... that bald guy... Maximillian Strauss I believe his name was. I believe if you complete his quest, he'll let you go into the upstairs room in the tremere building downtown...
Gabrielle Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 How can I get my Tremere a new apartment? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You get it from th Tremere regent Max Strauss. I forgot how you get it, one of his quests I would guess, and it will be at teh Chantry.

I read that it's supposed to open up a bookcase path. Spreading beauty with my katana.
Atreides Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 I'm still stuck. I've got all 3 candles with their tops on (harmony?) and still no secret pathway. Help? Here's a screenshot of the situation. Spreading beauty with my katana.
Gabrielle Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 That image is on the first floor? This opens a door back in the room adjacent to the starting area. It should have showed a cutscene where the door opens, if the right combo was used. * There are times when the "right way" of clicking he candles doesn't work so I randomly go through them and eventually hit the right combination.
Atreides Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 Oh, I'm on the 2nd run through. I've done that part where the door opens, went through eventually coming to the floor above the library, then taking the trapdoor back down to the 3 candles. I just can't figure how to get them to open the bookcase passage. I read there's supposed to be a book in the bookcases that can open the passage but I can't find that either. This is dumb. Spreading beauty with my katana.
Gabrielle Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 The only book that I am aware of is the Research Book you find on the first level on the floor. No books in the book cases either. Go figure.
SteveThaiBinh Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 I read there's supposed to be a book in the bookcases that can open the passage but I can't find that either. I think that to see it you need to have decent skill at observation or inspection or whatever it was that allows you to notice things. I never found out how to solve the candles properly, but if you just pull them randomly the correct answer will appear fairly quickly. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." Atreides Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 OK, finally figured it out. The bookcase candles are on the UPPER floor of the library. The wooden walkway. The sequence is Right Mid Mid Mid Mid. Spreading beauty with my katana.
CoM_Solaufein Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 I think those candles vary every time you play it. I played it a few times and the candle combination was not the same it seemed.
