Jumjalum Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 (edited) Also Gaider pointed out on rpgcodex that Gothic III and Oblivion or even the Witcher can make their graphics better because they are not online games. NWN2 needs to keep it clean so the game can run multi-player. NWN2 can Edited January 10, 2006 by Jumjalum We now bring you live footage from the World Championship Staring Final.
Nartwak Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I used to have some coarse rugs like that. That's pretty much what they look like.
Child of Flame Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Also, both pictures lack "details" (for a lack of a better word). The potted plant by the fireplace not enough for ya? (Actually, is that a good place for a plant? Extreme heat is not good for most varieties, I think.) I like detail, too, if it can make each house feel different, as though it's been personalised at least a little. NWN suffered from huge, empty houses with long, empty corridors all the same. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> From what I can tell that plant looks to be a bromeliad, which is the same family of plants Aloe Vera is from, as well as many desert dwelling cacti like plants. Many of them would thrive in hot, dry environs, so long as water is poured down the top of them periodically.
Nartwak Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Aloe Vera is a useful plant to have around, say if you burn yourself sitting next to an open fireplace.
Atreides Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 This thread is made of win and genius. Spreading beauty with my katana.
Child of Flame Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I miss my bedroom cactus garden. I had to get rid of them because when I came home from boarding school the cats kept eating them and getting their mouths horribly stickery. I even had one that made fruit I could eat.
angshuman Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I don't understand his logic, everything to do with graphics is client-side which means it makes little difference what your connection is like so long as your processor and video card are up to the task. You could make Doom with the best graphics in the world and all that would have to go over the net is what direction you are pointing. He's probably referring to the fact that some online games tend to lay off the graphics a bit so people with older computers can play, like World of Warcraft which has a really great art design with relatively low poly models (WoW really did a great job in this respect, to Blizzard). Arkan Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Well, they are just screenshots. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think he means (and this is something I'd like to see), we need a screenshot of something other than a woodsy outdoors area or a cozey indoor setting. I want a cave sprawling with stalagmites/tites, etc. Or a dungeon with lava flows or whatever... something besides the standard fare. "Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." - Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials "I have also been slowly coming to the realisation that knowledge and happiness are not necessarily coincident, and quite often mutually exclusive" - meta
