213374U Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Heh. Guess I'll have to find out if I'm "hardcore" enough. Even more so considering I got both Speaker and Xenocide for 10 - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.
Hurlshort Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 I finished Speaker, but it was so tedious I never read Xenocide. Ender's Shadow is the real sequel in my eyes.
Kaftan Barlast Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 (edited) AUTOMATIC KAFKA Its among the coolest mainstream comics Ive read. The art is just amazing (very artsy). It does not have anything to do with Franz Kafka though. Gabrielle Posted January 18, 2006 Author Posted January 18, 2006 Lord of the Rings. Again. Every year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The actor Christopher Lee said he reads LotR every year. I remember him saying that in one of the interviews in the LotR movie disks.

kirottu Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 LotR is boring. This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time.
thepixiesrock Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Don't worry, I'm here, and he is, in fact, not Christopher Lee, but more to the point, who cares, because Lord of the Rings is lame. Blank Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Speaker for the Dead. I'm hoping it'll be as good as the first book. And for the guy who reads an average of 15 books a month... WTF? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> save yourself an afternoon, and throw speaker away now. honest. only the most hardcore osc fans like(d) speaker. HA! Good Fun! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> nah, It wasn't that bad Gromnir. not as good, and also different, but it had some suspense and stuff that i enjoyed. a while ago i started reading xenocide, then stopped, since it got boring quick and stayed that way. I agree with Hurlshot though, Ender's Shadow is the real sequel

Dark_Raven Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Seeing that we are on the subject of a great author known as J.R.R. Tolkien, I found The Silmarillion a wonderful book to read. It may seem complex at first, but after another reading or two, it is quite enlightening. My favorite part is the story of Beren and L Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Musopticon? Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 I didn't like Silmarillion. It read like fantasy bible, and I didn't see the point in publishing the thing. Definetly read some "real" mythology instead. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.
WITHTEETH Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 The Hobbit. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I read that book a couple years ago. decent, best part were the riddles in the dark i thought. Another easy read is The Giver. Great book, especially for adolescents. Always outnumbered, never out gunned! Unreal Tournament 2004 Handle:Enlight_2.0 Myspace Website! My rig
SteveThaiBinh Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 My favourite Middle Earth book wasn't the Silmarillion - in fact, it's so long since I read it, I had to go to Wikipedia to look up the title. It's Unfinished Tales, and looking through the list of tales, I remember really liking "Aldarion and Erendis" amongst others. I liked the story of Beren and Luthien from the Silmarillion, but tried once to get through the poem and didn't make it. "An electric puddle is not what I need right now." (Nina Kalenkov)
